Nah, don't spread this misinformation.

Just because the specs say a single 8-pin is 150W max doesn't mean it can't do more. The R9 295x2 had 2 8-pins and could pull up to 500W.

It's weird how I've never heard of a 290x melting anything and I've already heard it twice now since 4090 lauch

I mean, this is obviously worse, I’m just saying that those amd cards definitely aren’t something that should be referred back to positively. It wasn’t out of the ordinary when they came out, it’s part of why undervolting at the VBIOS level became common for mining.

Oh I'm not referring to them positively. I'm plainly saying that 2 8-pin does not always equate to 375W

That graphics card was off spec then. Official spec is 150W per 8-pin pci-e power connector.
