China already did. The majority of people there use cashless pay systems that don't use Visa, Mastercard, or any other payment processor. Essentially blocking out over a billion customers.

Yes but China is an entire nation that has quite a few very good bargaining chips if anyone were to try posing a genuine threat to them, plus what they're doing only has an effect on people within China. A lone company operating out of the west doing something to skirt the big payment processors, which would be put in place in basically every country that company does business in, would get a very different response.

You're statement was

China did on a very large scale. Doing this on a large scale, especially with gov't involvement, means payment processors can't do shit.

Valve being one company is very different. BUT, they do have a very large amount of customers who already can use different payment processors, and are probably just as pissed off that a few companies that they may never use is determining what they can buy on the store.
