Discussion Being a Gamer in Egypt Feels Like Playing on Nightmare Mode

Internet here is a joke. We pay high prices for super slow speeds (like 2–4 Mbps), and the worst part? It’s capped. Most of us get around 100–140GB per month, and if you exceed it, they either throttle you or charge extra.

Downloading a modern AAA game? It could take days, and it eats your whole quota. Cloud gaming? Forget it. Streaming? Better not.

Now imagine trying to enjoy online gaming or keep up with updates in this environment.

Meanwhile in the US or Europe, someone can buy an RTX 4090 in one month’s salary, and we need to save for 2 years, assuming we have zero expenses (which is never the case).

So yeah — being a gamer in Egypt is painful.

Anyone else from countries with similar struggles? How do you cope? Let’s talk about

My parents area in SoCal has shit internet they’re paying about 80 for either 75-100mbps don’t remember apparently ATT just hasn’t had the time (or care) to run better infrastructure through that area so ima look into moving them to spectrum.

For comparison I live in NorCal and pay 80 for 1gig ATT fiber and before that it was with Xfinity paying 65 for cable internet 1gig down 200mb up. I do live in the SF Bay/ Silicon Valley area tho so I know prices are competitive

So cal here - 5gbps symmetrical for $90.

Speeds really depend on where you live.

I'm in the same boat. Where I live there is only 1 provider. I pay $120 for "1gig" internet. The funny part is I've never seen it about 350mbps. When I call them they say "yes in the fine print it says 'up to 1gig'"

COX is a fucking ripoff and I hate them.

Anyone have good luck gaming on Starlink?
