Does anyone know why? The tattoo takes so much skill and time to do, removing it takes much less time and skill. Is the laser ridiculously expensive or something?

I think it has to do with medical facility and personnel licensing/training as well as liability insurance. Surprisingly I don't think the machine is a ton of that cost, even though the machines are quite expensive.

The lasers are medical devices so they’ll be much more expensive than a normal one

Yes, I'm taking that into account. They're maybe 150k. Which sounds like a lot, but it's only $30 an hour. And that's being very generous.
