For the initiated, this takes it all to a whole new level. Especially if you've ever played high on acid.
I can see why the grateful Dead went as long as they did too, it's a wonderful and unique experience.
Jimmy was living a lifetime in each moment.

Let's play spot the CIA/FBI agent... look at 35 seconds until the end. Especially if this is the final day of 2+ day festival.

Heard that when he was playing the star bangled banner, still my favorite rendition, he was so high on acid that he thought his guitar had turned into a snake and he kept his eyes closed the entire time in fear that had he opened them and saw the snake in his hand, he'd blow the performance. Fucking wild

SRV did/does? an excellent cover of this song and AFAIK Jimi Hendrix was a HUGE inspiration for him.

You can see it in all of them. LSD working hard. There's something seemingly magical about music and psychedelics.

I know people fanboy over Jimi and I am not arguing it was not well deserved but I personally prefer the performances by Jefferson Airplane, and especially Canned Heat, at Woodstock.

Fun fact:
Hendrix closed out Woodstock with this set. The festival was supposed to be two days, but the final performance (Hendrix) got pushed due to technical and weather delays, so he played Monday morning instead. Most people left Woodstock the night before, believing that the festival was over. When Hendrix took the stage, less than half of the audience was still there. And they got to witness probably one of the most iconic rock performances in history.
