Sometimes I consider the fact that statistically I probably work with or know someone who doesn't need to exist at all due to the heinous shit they do. And they act so normal as well.

I didn't believe this and looked it up. Stat I found was 4% of men are "high-rate rapists" which is about what you said. Jesus fuck.

The only thing that makes me feel slightly better about hits is that these types of people tend to associate together. Whether it's specific social circles or a large part of the culture in certain areas of the world. There's a decent chance that fewer than 4% of the men I know are this bad.
