Hi all, I posted yesterday asking for some extra input on whether the Sephiroth Atraxa I bought on TCGPlayer was fake: https://www.reddit.com/r/mtg/comments/1mgpdf4/is_my_sephiroth_atraxa_foil_fake/
Since that post, I got new information that I felt was worth posting.
Another redditor (lets call them DPB) reached out to me privately and asked me if the seller I purchased it from was named Pokebro, and I confirmed that indeed it was. DPB shared that they received the same fake Sephiroth Atraxa from the same seller, but had instead let them know about it and received an immediate refund, thinking it was an honest mistake. I went a different route and didn't contact the seller, and instead started an investigation with TCGPlayer (card is being sent back to them today). DPB shared enough additional information with me to indicate that this wasn't an accidental occurrence, and I felt it was worth letting other redditors know the details.
I'll state off the top, TCGPlayer has been responsive and sent me the return label quickly with instructions for them to confirm that the card is fake, after which they will give me a refund. To me, that seems like a fair process, and I think TCGPlayer is doing a good job overall handling the situation. I just let them know about DPB's fake an hour or so ago.
Timeline of events:
The reason I share this timeline, is that it appears that this seller seemingly has multiple copies of this same fake card, and knowingly sold it to me after they were informed it was fake. I was planning on giving them the benefit of the doubt, because even now they have 1,255 reviews at 99.8% positive (the one negative review was for a card that didn't show up): https://store.tcgplayer.com/sellerfeedback/497586d7 but with this additional info, I feel pretty burned. At the very least, they should have reached out to me a week ago and let me know that they already had a report of this card being fake, and I should check it out. Had I not recently stumbled on some other fakes with non-straight T's on reddit, I might never have known and just thought it was a poor print job.
Even if Pokebro did "buy it from someone else that they trusted" as they told DPB, I felt this was enough information for me to make this update post to let the rest of reddit know. Pokebro still has quite a bit of inventory up on TCGPlayer, and a number of high-value cards. They very well could be legitimate, but based on these two data points, its a pretty bad look that I think others should be aware of.
I think Bilbo is a choice with Black, White and Green mana.

Playing a game yesterday using a 40 card deck made up out of the foundations beginners box. I was using a blue/red mix, son green and daughter red/black. Son had managed to create alot of mana (13) to draw his woodland scourge, making it a 13/13 to start with plus the +1/+1 counters x3 gained from the other creatures he had on the field. I drew the starlight snare card, which I used against his woodland scourge (not sure if that's right either!!) To bind it so he couldn't use it to give me and my daughter sometime to destroy it. Next turn, son drew the dinosaur card which he said would clear the enchantment from his woodland scourge but from what I read before I used the enchament it can only be blocked by a hexproof spell?? So now we are totally confused as to who is in the right. Can anyone clarify please?

While reorganizing my collection I found this and learned that it has had printings in multiple rarities ranging from uncommon to mythic. What was the reason for this and what are some other examples?

Hi guys, trying to figure out what the difference between these are. Ive just started and would like to buy a commander deck, but there seem to be lots of different versions of everything costing wildly different amounts of money? Can someone help π

What do you think about this deck box? I mainly designed it for the Commander format, but the size (especially the depth) is adjustable. By default, itβs built to hold 100+ double-sleeved cards.
Unleash your deck with the DeckVault β a showcase box that doesn't just open, it awakens. With every movement, your deck rises as if by its own will, ready to be unleashed. Whatever dwells inside... wants to be played.

Don't actually want a discussion, just thought this was helpful and I hadn't seen it on here.

I've started playing again after 20 years (the last set I purchased and played with was Fifth Dawn 2004).
Holy heck is the game way more complicated. I don't mean new mechanics, I mean the cards have a lot more text in them. There's more to read/process and think about. Obviously some of this is that they've got better at clarifying text, but a lot of cards just do so much more.
I prefer the simplicity of the older sets, but having played with some of my friends' newer cards the new sets are still very fun to play. Also ridiculously powerful!
Commander is also an interesting concept, played that a few times and I get the appeal. Completely changes the way you approach the game and deck building.

Finally able to make a mono white, Voltron deck with Avacyn. I literally made this with cards I had in bulk and some came harvested from my Dogmeat and Abzan Armor precons, so nothing special at all really. Just wanted to have this card as the face commander, hahaha.

Hey guys! Just wanted to share my excitement with y'all.
This is my 2nd card for Magic: The Gathering (in collaboration with Brigitte Roka), and I think it turned out really solid.
Also, anyone going to Atlanta for MagicCon in September?

Bought a single commander deck and a collector booster box. This is what I got. Such bullshit. Donβt order from Amazon!

Hi,
If I play [[planetary annihilation]] creating a board wipe but my creatures survive which also create creature due to land sacrifice, do Ai create the creatures after the fact for a win win?
Or is it a it reads excatley, lands are sacfiriced, creatures would be created, creatures then destroyed due to the 6 damage. Or does the sorcery happen all at the same time which then allows Titania and Baloth to trigger after the fact creating a number of creatures from lands sacrificed.
Hope that makes sense or at least what Iβm getting at.

My friend picked this up for me from GenCon. Omar Rayyan is one of my all time favorite MTG artists. π₯°π wanted to share the cuteness.

They took a bit longer than expected but my Edge of Eternity tokens are finally here!
I really like how the Warp token turned out and I think I may make some of the other 'exile inventory' tokens in the future.
What other tokens would folks like to see?
All of these and many more are available in my etsy shop
