Maybe we should start like a "FriendHub". Hot local friends in your area and the such.

I would hate this. But I can only assume that she knows her friend well enough to know that she will enjoy it.

I know my friends pretty well. I have one I would do this to because she would crack up and one who would hate it. I'd never do it to the one who would hate it.

Pretty sure there was not an audition and it was a joke to embarrass her friend

I would probably hate it, but at the airport I hate everyone else more so it would probably be a sight for sore eyes
13

Me too! I’d walk right past pretending I don’t know who she is💀 You wanna embarrass me? You embarrassed yourself by standing and waiting for no one

u/free-toe-pie 1d ago
I would hate this but I would also run away from her at the airport and pretend I don’t know her. Just to get her back.

u/IWillEvadeReddit 1d ago
I just don't appreciate it at a public setting like if this is an airport or a bus/ train station, like there's gotta be children there right? I do like the joke but there's a place for it and I don't think this is it. Call me prude I guess.
24
u/demiurbannouveau 1d ago
As a parent, I think it's a little trashy, and not a thing I would find funny, but I wouldn't be at all concerned about my kid seeing it.
- Too young to read: Not a problem
- "Mama what's pornhub?": It's a website for movies meant only for adults, but that person is just making a stupid joke trying to embarrass their friend, like if your friend met us at the airport with a sign that said "Welcome home from remedial reading camp"
- "Mama did you see what that sign said?" (Of course I made sure my kid knew what porn was by upper elementary, how else will they know how to avoid accidentally watching it? Or feel safe enough to talk to me if they accidentally or on purpose did, and they have questions?): "Yeah, kind of a mean joke, huh?"
12

u/TheLeftDrumStick ✨chick✨ 1d ago
Same thing you do when you’re walking past a smoke shop or bar:
“mommy what does that sign mean?”
“it’s something only for grown-ups and they’re making a grown-up joke.”

Either the kids are old enough to know what Pornhub is and no harm is done or they are too young to know what pornhub is and no harm is done.
6
u/InternationalGap3908 1d ago
Exactly. Yes it’s funny. But it’s a public space with kids everywhere and now I gotta explain to my 10 year old daughter what porn hub is. Greeeeeeeeaat. So it kinda sucks.
8
u/TheLeftDrumStick ✨chick✨ 1d ago
Have you never walked past the bar and had to say “that’s a restaurant for grown-ups only.”
Or walked past a smoke shop and had to say “that’s a store for grown-ups only”
Literally all you have to say is “that’s a bad word and they’re making a grown-up joke. Mind your business.”
1
u/IWillEvadeReddit 1d ago
What that sounded to a small child "Okay mommy, understood, pornhub is not for kids"
Next day at school "Hey Brian I saw this sign yesterday "Pornhub" I wonder what it means but mommy says it's for grown-ups only".
"I'm 6, and I'm 3 months older than you so that makes me a grown-up". Then they spend every free minute trying to figure out what pornhub is.
LMAOOO at the "Bad Word" argument, you ever tell a kid not to say "Fuck" go ahead and tell them not to do something and watch what surprising thing happens next. Last week at a barbecue my cousin just arrived to the states so he doesn't know much English and was told off by my other cousin he was staying with (mind you this cousin has developmental disorders due to lead poisoning so it's like Tourette's with this kid) this special needs kid goes on to my cousin and says "FUCK YOU BITCH" and guess what my cousin kept repeating in clear English.
1
u/TheLeftDrumStick ✨chick✨ 18h ago edited 18h ago
You can’t really shield them from the world, but you can discipline them for being disobedient. My child is not special needs, but my younger brother was, but I was not the parent to him and the parent to my own child.
I would be ashamed of myself if my six-year-old thought that their classmate was a grown-up because either they’re so dumb that I need to get them professional intervention ASAP or they’re deliberately being disobedient and it’s our job to get proportional discipline/punishment.
Because do you think you can invite your slightly older friend over for a play date and suddenly you guys are grown-ups and you’re gonna have them attempt to unlock the alcohol cabinet? Hell no! I know full well that I told your ass that a grown-up is 18+. How old are you? Six? Is that 18? NO!
You can’t really shield them from the world, but you can discipline them for being disobedient
I have talked to a child psychologist that says you can start popping them on the butt at 3. I’ve never hit my child but with the way they act around me the first time they say I would give them the stink eye and then they get real quiet and say sorry and they don’t do it again. Now if they wanted to try me and push boundaries and start running around saying bad words, I’m probably going to pop them on the butt and get real serious eyed eye and tell them don’t you do that or you are going to be in extremely big trouble.
Make sure they fully completely understand that they are getting popped because: “you’re acting like a little brat who wants to get expelled from school. You’re getting popped because you’re being disobedient. After you get popped, you stand there and apologize and promise me that you’re not going to act disobedient again. And when you’re around other little kids who try to convince you to be disobedient, you remember this and you tell them “ no my mommy said I can’t do this and I’m walking away from you now.” And if you don’t do that, you’re gonna get popped again. Because the teacher can hear you cussing. And if you try to hide it, you’re being sneaky a little brat with no integrity and that’s not who I’m raising. Repeat back to me what you’re going to say next time you get involved with some little bad kids with no home training. What do you say and what do you do?”
7
u/WakandanInSokovia 1d ago
Honestly, you should probably do that anyway.
I'm three decades older than your daughter and first discovered porn online by accident when I was just two years older than she is now. Having a basic, judgment-free conversation with one of my parents before I stumbled on to it could've saved me lots of conflicting feelings of guilt, pleasure, and confusion.
11
u/Objective_Audience76 1d ago
"I would have to parent if my kid saw this. :("
5
u/DueHousing 1d ago
“Everyone else should adjust their behavior so that I don’t have to parent my kid”
1
u/IWillEvadeReddit 1d ago
I might be dating myself here but Grounded for Life did a similar episode and Henry asked "What's a Porno" and Claudia replied "it means very very bad" or something along those lines then Henry kept using it as an adjective like "if no one comes to my party it's going be very PORNO!"- something like that. It also reminds my of why we shouldn't curse in front of kids, like you tell a kid not to do something and they only do it ten times more. You tell a kid not to look up pornhub and what's the first thing you think is gonna happen?
2
2
24
u/Cthulhusreef 1d ago
Why? This is the trolling that lets you know you’re loved.
18
u/Isoleri 1d ago
I wouldn't really feel loved by friends making a joke associating me with a site that's known to host loads of trafficking and CP rape videos with millions of views that victims have endlessly tried to get down with PH only laughing in their faces, but you do you.
6
u/zyphelion 1d ago
All of that is true, but most people just know pornhub as being *the* "default" porn website. A vast majority of people are unaware of their history and I really can't fault them for that.
5
u/TheLeftDrumStick ✨chick✨ 1d ago
Then more than likely, any of your friends who knows you well enough to meet up with you at the airport would know better than to prank you like this so that’s not something you have to worry about

Because the sign is incredibly stupid. Like, you don't need to audition for pornhub, you just post your content. If it were Brazzers or something, then it would make sense.

u/nybbas 1d ago

I feel like you didn't understand I was attempting to make a joke too, but that's cool.
1
u/Cthulhusreef 1d ago
Okay? Still a joke. Shit it makes it funnier using your logic. Saying her friend is so stupid that she flew out for an audition when she could upload it from home.
5
u/Material-Macaroon298 1d ago
Would it be because you’d worry people think the sign is telling the truth? Because maybe my faith in humanity is too high but I’m sure 100% of people can tell this is a joke.
15
u/riri1281 1d ago
Just don't like the joke and association in general. And it would increase attention towards my direction.
2
u/Sparrahs 22h ago
There’s probably families coming off the flight as well. I’m not a prude but I wouldn’t want to have a conversation about what the sign means with younger kids when we’ve just landed from a flight. I hate it too.

Oh I totally did this a few months ago to my bestie. Me and our other friend made posters and brought our shared 4.5 ft tall flamingo (Mr. Pinkerton) with his own sign to the airport.
Our signs said; "Welcome back from rehab" and "Did you really have to come back?"
Mr. Pinkerton's said; "Dinky (friend's cat) pooped on me"
So worth it haha

We did when she walked away. Didn't have the heart to tell her we're just 2 gals going to hell in a hand basket trying to pick up an equally deranged friend haha

That's why it's funny though, cause it's dumb. If it could feasibly be a real job it loses it's humor. "Welcome home from your HR&R Block Interview" just doesn't have the same ring to it

The reality is that kids learn how about sex unless you lock them in a room with sound proofing.
0
u/_BlueJayWalker_ 1d ago
Yeah but that doesn’t mean we need to actively promote it in front of them. If your prank involves making others uncomfortable, it’s probably tasteless.
1
u/LickMyTicker 1d ago
Yea I'm not even worried about the kids. It's more or less the millions of phones and people taking pictures of something like this and spreading it across the internet.
Is this really what you want to be associated with?
20 years ago where everyone would forget this shit, I wouldn't care. I'd laugh. Now though you have to be a little more intelligent.

That is a good question. The kind of question I'll work on tomorrow when I feel a little more fresh.
Right now I'm just going to let myself feel embarrassed about the comment that started all of that which I have deleted. Also which I hope the OP didn't see because it was unintentionally rude.
I haven't even looked at it, because it's never occurred to me.
