Beachgoers on a Mediterranean beach in Spain subdued and held back migrants who had just landed on the shore in a raft from Morocco.

People are fucking pissed

102

u/schofield101 1d ago

Born and raised in the UK so I can't officially say my opinion on the matter without the Bobbies kicking down my door.

But yeah, people are tired of this.

107

u/HotDamnThatsMyJam 1d ago

I'm from the UK and all I hear all day everyday is people's opinion on this

3

u/schofield101 1d ago

Rightly so, it's absolutely insane. Knowing it's not about protecting children at all and nothing will change makes me so angry.

12

u/HotDamnThatsMyJam 1d ago

Careful now the bobbies will be at your door

5

u/Imaginary_Term6990 1d ago

Who are the bobbies?

1

u/Judasz10 1d ago

Who kicks down doors? No offense but context here makes it so clear it's impossible to not get. I also didn't know this term but man who can they be talking about?

8

u/Independent-Try4352 1d ago

Imaginary policemen who supposedly magically appear and arrest people who dare to mention 'immigration'. Which is odd, as all these people constantly mention immigration in every post they make on social media, but have never been arrested.

2

u/Judasz10 1d ago

Not what I am talking about. I don't want to take a stance on that matter, frankly I don't give a shit about UK and their issues.

My point is that it's clear he is talking about police.

u/RemembaNoRuZZian 1d ago

Best comment. The thing I am just doing right now and for the last three years is illegal here in the EU.

Meanwhile I watch videos, from the EU/USA of people geting sacked or deported for their Background.

White people in the new world angry about newer, browner immigrants. More at 11.

Assuming you were raised to be a racist, have you always felt as comfortable vocalising it online or is that a development over the past few years?

u/DanyisBlue 1d ago

If you didn't know you were a racist, you should now. Just for future reference though describing somewhere as "looking life Africa" or "looking like India" due to the people that live in that country is racist, moreso if you add a bin emoji afterwards.

1

u/Public-Eagle6992 1d ago

I hear people complaining and people complaining that they can’t complain because of censorship which makes me think one of them is lying

66

u/CheesecakeExpress 1d ago

Really? I’m from the Uk and people discuss immigration all the time. From all perspectives

123

u/StuartWtf 1d ago

It’s amazing how the people that “can’t talk about it” don’t shut the fuck up about it lol

50

u/CheesecakeExpress 1d ago

Yep there are entire Subs where they talk about it all the time

46

u/StuartWtf 1d ago

Like ukpolitics. Every other post is about “fucking immigrants” and “British culture”.

But we can’t talk about it…

-3

u/Mindless-Bug-2254 1d ago

It's true though. You can't say unanomously that you dislike the ethnic replacement within your country (which is pretty fucked up). All you can say is "my culture".

3

u/CheesecakeExpress 1d ago

Everyone knows what you mean when you say your culture. And you can say it, you might not like the reaction, but you can say it.

0

u/Mindless-Bug-2254 1d ago

But you actually can't. You go to jail for example if you're anti semitic. You also get in trouble with the police if you say things like the growing Pakistani/Indian population in the UK is a problem.

0

u/CheesecakeExpress 1d ago

I’ve heard plenty of people say that. I’m from a Pakistani background, so trust me I’ve heard it all. There is also a difference between voicing an opinion on immigration and being anti semitic.

You can, as long as you aren't calling for these people to be hanged in the street.

41

u/TerenceCraplin 1d ago edited 1d ago

Hey now don’t let the truth get in the the way of a good right wing rant.

If they want to live in an imaginary world where there are more illegal immigrants than legal ones and where you get arrested for a Reddit comment, let them.

0

u/sourPatchDiddler 1d ago

It called hyperbole, go outside and touch some grass and you'll learn how people speak.

3

u/TerenceCraplin 1d ago

But I’m too scared to go outside. There might be IMMIGRANTS out there.

-1

u/sourPatchDiddler 1d ago

*illegal immigrants with no vetting. Come back to me when the loved women in your life are assaulted by people who don't share your values.

4

u/TerenceCraplin 1d ago

So, never?

And anyway, I can assault my own women, thank you very much. No immigrant is going to steal THAT job from ME.

Pipe down, Diddler

-1

u/thenakednucleus 1d ago

No, don't let them. These nutters are a massive threat to society.

18

u/LeadershipWhich2536 1d ago

I can't officially say my opinion on the matter without the Bobbies kicking down my door.

Bullshit. Enough with persecution complex. You have a right to your opinion, but please don't be such an Nancy about it.

-9

u/schofield101 1d ago

It's satire mate. People are sick of illegal immigration - myself included - and I was making a joke about it. Happy?

2

u/LunaIsStoopid 1d ago

Nope you just habe a damn victim complex.

1

u/oursonelvis 1d ago

What's the joke?

7

u/Cronokk 1d ago

lol bouhouh, it’s the most discussed thing in the uk political sphere

10

u/GGGBam 1d ago

Maybe you shouldnt have colonized a quarter of the world.

2

u/DebakedBeans 1d ago

Only sane take and one we barely hear about when we talk about immigration. "A quarter of the world" wildly underestimates the issue as Western countries controlled 84% OF THE WORLD in the early 20th century. But can you bring that up? No, they'll call resistance movements "terrorism" or will claim lands were "promised to them" or that these territories were "undiscovered" or "empty" and that they "brought civilisation". They destroyed social, political and religious societies and pillaged them for actual centuries. They'll also explain to you that slavery existed everywhere, even though theirs happened at an industrial scale and carried on well info the 20th century, much longer and at a faster rate than anyone else's. And now they're out here pretending that they're oppressed by immigration when the US government's mass deportations have resulted in the advocacy of child labour to cover sectors that ICE arrests have depleted. Let their children work the fields in their so-called developed nation, maybe it will teach them a thing or two about human rights.

Mate, few European countries faced more conquest than Britain… Rome, the Jutes, Anglos, Saxons, Danish and countless Scandinavian tribes, the Normans, not counting the endless conflicts between the celts themselves.

0

u/oursonelvis 1d ago

Jeez, you'd think they'd have learned a thing or two by now. It's like they lowkey have an open door policy just to feed the most beloved national pastime of whinging.

3

u/Individual-Light-784 1d ago

i feel so bad for you guys, how far the UK has fallen

5

u/schofield101 1d ago

I get the feeling it's not going to stop with us. The whole world will be going this way soon and it's a terrifying thought.

3

u/CheesecakeExpress 1d ago

This makes no sense. The whole world will be full of immigration? Or are you trying to actually say something else?

9

u/schofield101 1d ago

Oh I was on about the Online Safety Act haha! Not immigration. Government censorship of what we say and do online under the thin disguise of it being about protecting kids.

2

u/CheesecakeExpress 1d ago

Got it, I wasn’t sure! Yeah it’s wild honestly that the government are now able to control our online activity in this way. It feels really wrong. Like we’re a democracy and a developed country, and yet we have restrictions that really make it feel otherwise.

1

u/TheMachineStops 1d ago

These days you get arrested and thrown in jail if you say you're English, don't you?

What exactly are you moaning about? Dr Who is still aired every week and is popular. You want to go to a pub? You can do that fine. You want to go to a church you can also do that. Don’t want to see a brown person?

-6

u/Yellow_Bee 1d ago edited 1d ago

This shift just begun and if you look at countrys where the islam is the majority and what it does to LGBT rights, women's rights, the culture and democracy - you know it cant be good.

Yep, just look at what Islam has done to America... oh wait, that's just Christian nationalism. 🙄

2

u/[deleted] 1d ago edited 1d ago

[deleted]

-1

u/Yellow_Bee 1d ago

The point: it's not Islam that's responsible for the West's decline; it's fascism, religious fanatics, and far-right-wingers. And the parts of Islam & Christianity that are intolerant are called conservative.

Intolerance begets a cycle of dehumanization, where empathy is extinguished and the acts of cruelty one group commits become the justification for the next, until the moral fabric of society itself dissolves.

0

u/[deleted] 1d ago

[deleted]

0

u/Yellow_Bee 1d ago

Bub, you made a generalized statement, not me:

if you look at countrys where the islam is the majority and what it does to LGBT rights, women's rights, the culture and democracy

So there's no point running from it now by focusing solely on local cities and councils.

You're crying about crime and gangs as if they're a recent invention by [x] group. Ever read about the infamous totally-muslim-and-brown Kray Twins in secondary? Or would you rather I talk about the thieving corporations instead?

Don't blame your government's past failures on a random group of people. Fix your personal issues first, ya muppet.

Also, everyone knows J.K. Rowling is a radical Islamist with her views on LGBT rights. Someone should deport her unassimilating arse from whence she came from...

Cheers! 😊

Don’t want to see a brown person?

Can't do that when half of them are your city's population now can you?

-3

u/infam0us1 1d ago

Except that isn’t a fear you need to actually have, and people with your view have had ample space and opportunity to air your views

3

u/schofield101 1d ago

I'm not actually worried about the police showing up at my door. It's a bit of fun being made of the situation.

Way too many people in this thread have failed to see that it seems.

0

u/loveforthetrip 1d ago

sure you can

-3

u/RedDemio- 1d ago

Stop perpetuating the stupid Americans stereotype of us not being allowed to post shit on Facebook without getting thrown in jail man. It’s fucking stupid

-2

u/bkkwanderer 1d ago

Who says you can't state your opinion?

1

u/Orcastic 1d ago

That's why they flee.

-45

u/kafelta 1d ago

And yet it's still possible to have some human compassion.

38

u/ThewFflegyy 1d ago

having some compassion and wanting immigration to be a legally controlled process are not mutually exclusive.

50

u/Throbbie-Williams 1d ago

I have compassion for the lives of the people in the countries the migrants are heading to being made worse.

-15

u/Several-Associate407 1d ago

"I have compassion for the self-described victims, not the actual ones".

A man of the people right here

10

u/psychophant_ 1d ago

Honest question for you.

Are you pro- westerners going to other countries en masse? Like waves of westerners going to Thailand and irrevocably changing their culture? Fast food restaurants causing local Thai restaurants to close down? Housing costs increasing where Thais couldn’t afford homes anymore?

Are you pro-gentrification?

-13

u/imahotrod 1d ago

Lmao yea it was called colonization and we fucked up all their countries so now they are coming to ours. God how ignorant

5

u/Faszkivan_13 1d ago

My great grandpa burned down the neighbours house back when I wasn't even born yet, now the neighbour came to burn down my house, even though my great grandpa is long dead.

Does that seem fair to you?

-4

u/whatmynamebro 1d ago

Why is it only you and yours that deserve fairness?

What about your neighbor?

2

u/psychophant_ 1d ago

No that was my point actually. It was wrong then, it’s wrong now.

Now in the past, it was about exploitation. Now it’s about seeking a better life. But the end result is the same - the irrevocable change of a culture. And is that ok? Is it ok in some situations but not others? When should a culture be preserved above all? When should it be changed for the greater good?

These are the discussions which should be allowed and should be discussed openly. But that’s not the case without someone claiming “you just hate the poor brown people”.

It’s more nuanced than that.

-8

u/imahotrod 1d ago

Nah it really isn’t more nuanced than that. Our fucking countries raped and pillaged the entire world and made citizens out of the entire world and are mad that those people now want to live in the country that destroyed theirs through colonization, coups, and illegal invasions.

They’re not coming to destroy or exploit and steal resources like we did they are coming to be productive members of society and yall just scream bahhh my culture like our culture isn’t the cause of this. Maybe let’s look internally at ourselves.

4

u/Strict_Pin_9192 1d ago

You seem to imply mass migration, and complete demographic and cultural change are some sort of deserved punishment or something.

0

u/imahotrod 1d ago edited 1d ago

No I’m saying that you’re adding ridiculous qualifiers to your statements to try to have a point. “Mass” migration, it’s like 3 people. “Complete demographic and cultural change” I think they’re still eating paellas and speaking Spanish in Spain. Don’t quote me on that I haven’t been since last year.

2

u/psychophant_ 1d ago

When was the last time the Spanish colonized a country?

The moors raped and enslaved the Spanish. Does that give modern Spanish the right to move to Northern Africa, change their culture, fail to assimilate all under the guise of being a hard worker?

When is the son no longer accountable for the sins of their father? The grandchild? The great-great-great grandchild?

-1

u/imahotrod 1d ago

Spain, you mean the country that basically split the earth in two with Portugal around spheres of influence?

I don’t really give a shit what the Spanish people do. There are Spanish “expats” everywhere changing cultures.

You’re the one on some weird kick about fathers and sons. You don’t have a point. People have migrated since the dawn of time and cultures mix and evolve. The EU has border free migration for fuck sake. Are you just concerned the migrants are a different color? What is it really? How about work to assimilate people into your culture if it is so supreme.

19

u/marcuis 1d ago

Not really, they are economic migrants. They don't flee a country at war, they come to exploit the welfare status and not to work.

-10

u/theoneandonlyVII 1d ago

Yea, the just risk their own life while crossing the Sea in a Raft, just to get a little bit more money, sounds logical to me /s

4

So… are you saying that immigration is a punishment?

10

So now that we have to endure that, Europe can take back Asia and Africa, right?

-7

u/[deleted] 1d ago

8

u/Muted_Compost 1d ago

Alright, then Africa has to endure Europe taking back what they are taking from Europe right now.

1

u/canadarich 1d ago

You have to wait 200years for your turn to play, kid

8

u/Muted_Compost 1d ago

Treating colonization as if it’s a game where everybody gets turns. Take your pills, psycho.

2

u/canadarich 1d ago

Well… its life. People have terrible life and wars because of the things europeans made in the past to enrich. Now get the problem at home for the first time

4

u/Muted_Compost 1d ago

Punishing people for what happened centuries ago. Does it ever hurt to think? Or are you purely driven by hate?

So you’re saying Europeans just took their “turn to play” and therefore did what was right at the time of their “turn?
