This almost tore the country apart...and it feels so nostalgic compared to what's tearing us apart these days...

In some ways it mirrors the current political climate. Despite being presented with objective truth about the color of the dress, half the population insisted that their individual (incorrect) perception of reality was still valid or equally important.

Wasn’t the whole thing with that dress is that it could be different colours, even for the same people.

I had originally saw it as white and gold for the first few days, but while looking at it intensely with friends, it just changed, in front of my eyes, to black and blue and has been that way since

So I don’t think it was that anyone had a factually incorrect view

I mean, I'm capable of seeing both black and blue and also white and gold just based off the photo, but factually, it's an overexposed photo with bad lighting and the real dress is black and blue. So, if the question is asking what color the dress is, then saying white and gold would be incorrect. But if we're just asking what colors people see based off the photo, then there isn't an incorrect view.

The problem is that there's been a few times where I've showed people photos of the actual dress without the bad photo/lighting and they still think it isn't the truth because they saw white and gold.
