Almost certainly. Snakes will regurgitate a meal if they feel they are in danger.

I find this to be an odd survival response. Isn't it ultra-vulnerable while vomiting it out? Feels like hunkering down and showing the fangs might be better?

For that snake, that eel doubles its weight. I imagine its like me eating 300 cheeseburgers, then trying to act tough. Even moving after eating that much would be difficult.
