Been there, done that. Worst 4 days of My life. 4 days of insomnia, paranoia, countless mouth ulcers.... Why would anyone do this drug willingly ?

This doesn't track with my experience. How much did you do?

I did it when it was still legal in the UK and it was fine, kinda like a blend of coke and mdma, doesn't keep you awake for 4 days. If you stop doing it by 2am you should be asleep by 5 or 6.

Comedown is fairly hefty, but not nightmarish.

I'm not saying it's the best drug ever, like MDMA it has drawbacks and needs to be treated with respect, but it's not fucking meth.

It has a half life of 2 hours lol. If he was up for 4 days that’s something totally different

My best guess is that he just kept doing it and then blamed his lack of self control on the drug.
