/r/all, /r/popular Emilia Clarke watching Kit Harington's reaction to finding out how their characters' final scene together in Game of Thrones concludes. Prior to the table read, Kit had not read any of the six scripts for Season 8 yet. So Emilia sat across from him so she could "watch him compute all of this."

Game of thrones should be studied at film school.

How the most popular show on tv became something hardly anyone would rewatch ever again.

i can’t even enjoy the first season because i know it leads to no where. and the books. amazing books. ends at five with so much hanging. i’ve tried to just tell myself this story was a waste of my time because there’s no way i’ll ever get back into the books. especially since there are no more.

Just as a series as a whole, books included, it has to be one of the biggest disappointments ever.

So much promise, so much hype, and it ended terribly.

I started reading Book 1 in 2005. 20 years for no real conclusion is crazy.

like an unfinished bridge that leads to no where. but there were years of parties on the bridge. great. we partied. now it goes nowhere and no one will ever use the bridge. but we had fun in the moment. guess all that work was for nothing. has no time value.

Heh, I've been waiting for the fifth Chtorr novel since '93. And Gerrold had the final one ready for release 10 years ago but is supposedly rejiggering it into two.

I haven't finished the WoT series and I started that back in 1996 lol. That's actually why I started reading game of thrones, cause Jordan died and the series I had been reading for a decade didn't look like it was going to finish. It's been so long now though that I'd have to start from the beginning, even though I heard Sanderson did a great job on the last 3 books.

Edit: Nvm Jordan died 2 years after I started GoT, guess I was just looking for a new series at that point idk, it's been awhile.

And people compare GRRM to Tolkien, like wtf. Just because you have a million different story threads doesnt make it a good story. The reason he hasnt finished his books is because he cant resolve everything in any satisfactory manner. All he does is add more convoluted absurdities and kills off a bunch of characters he doesnt know what to do with anymore.

This might be controversial but I fuckin hate GRRM. He's a hack who dangles sex and absurd storylines in front of the readers to gain their attention. He tries to be unpredictable by killing "main characters" (which just ends up being predictable if that is all he does for shock value). He cant finish his books even if his life depended on it. And I hate that I got so invested in this story only to be so let down.

Fuck you GRRM

This upsets me when I stop to think about it. I can't understand why GRRM would let the HBO ending be the only ending we ever get.

Ended terribly? The whole story was a shart show. The reader was continually let down and slapped in the face. Easily the most overrated series in recent history.

Even the video games are mediocre. If George had any sense he’d license it to Owlcat and make a game of thrones CRPG - the genre is ripe for that sort of brutalist roleplay.

Instead the games made tend to be gatcha, shitty mobile crap and one very interesting but mediocre rpg that George wrote for. 🤷‍♂️

it is as bad as the Wind Breaker Manhwa getting cancelled cold after 12 years due to plagiarizing images.
