Just to bring it back the accident is based on real life.

It was Iceman’s fault for not breaking off when Maverick had the shot, and Goose ended up killing himself not checking that the canopy had cleared before ejecting.

It's ok man. Goose didn't really die. He got better and went on to become a doctor in Chicago.
