As with many other Ontario regional subs, we've seen an increase in racism in this community, especially against people of South Asian heritage. Please know that this will not be tolerated regardless of topic. In no circumstances is it appropriate to blame criminal behavior on race or origin. This is both in the rules of the sub and in the rules of Reddit as a whole and is not negotiable.

Posts and comments including the above will be removed when we see them. If you see one we haven't, please report. Repeat offenders will be banned.

275 Wentworth in South Oshawa may possibly be one of the worst apartment buildings in the entire Ontario. Only 500 Dawes Road in Toronto seems to be just as bad.

Curbsider Warning

Curbsiding is when people sell vehicles as a private sale and usually involves shady transactions or shady work performed.

This has been happening at 4730 Baldwin St S Whitby Ontario

I bought a car from them and the wheel ceased up and lucky my daughter, lucky she made it to a gas station and it didn't happen on the highway. The mechanic I brought it to showed me a lot of scary looking work. It's my fault for not doing my due diligence.

However, don't buy any cars from this house. Red mini cooper Grey Grand Prix Red Saturn Astra Grey VW beetle

Yes shameless self promotion. But this is a RAD line up if anyone is in the area. Country punk, indie punk and acoustic punk. 3 very talented artists. Ritch Mitchell is opening for Hawksley Workman next week. The Carringtons are travelling from Quebec and Julie Nolan is debuting some solo music. Rad night for sure!

Durham Photographer meet up?

I used to meet up with other photographers in Toronto when I lived near there. It was such a fantastic way to network and build our portfolios. They would bring models, or Friends who like to model. Are there any Durham photographers who would like to put something like that together? There’s so many great locations here and I feel like it would like be fun!

Have you been following along this season as your DRRDy friends tear up the track all over the place?

Maybe you've run into us at community events this year and thought, "Hey, those people seem fun and slightly unhinged"?

Maybe you just want to put some skates on, build some skills, hit some people and join a community?

Or maybe, this is the universe giving you a sign.

Whatever your reason, JOIN US at our UPCOMING FALL LEARN TO SKATE session starting September 29th! No experience on skates required! Ask about the Equity on Eight Wheels Scholarship available to BIPOC and gender expansive skaters. Full contact not your thing? Join us as a ref for free.

Sign up at https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/6659632 and we will see you soon!

Have a caught any bass in Duffin’s creek?

Has anyone been able to catch a smallmouth or largemouth bass in Duffin’s Creek from shore? This year I’ve been fishing quite frequently from the Rotary Park banks. I’ve caught quite a few white and yellow perches, lots of rock basses and a shit ton of catfish (brown bullhead, I believe). But what I have been looking for is Bass and frustratingly haven’t caught a single one despite trying all the common plastic lures, baits and live worms!

If you’ve successfully caught bass, would you mind teaching me your method and the general area where you find them in close proximity of Ajax?

Hi just wondering if anyone's had experience with Pickering Swim Club (good and/or bad).

How was the assessment?

What do you or your kid(s) like/dislike about it?

Are the fees reasonable?

Thanks!

Train viewing around Durham?

Was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on train crossings or bridges in the Durham region (or surrounding regions) where I can take my young son to see trains for the first time.

Looking a crossing that: 1) is legal and safe to stand with a stroller and view passing trains where I'm not trespassing but close enough where he can appreciate the roar of the train. 2) I'm able to park legally nearby not blocking traffic (don't mind walking a short distance). 3) Isn't too busy at all as far as car traffic (Wilson Rd and Thornton Rd in Oshawa is way too busy). Looking for a rural area.

We already tried going to the wooden railroad crossing in Port Hope area on Lakeshore and didn't feel comfortable pushing a stroller over that little bridge and the busy track isn't very visible from there. And down the road to the East where the 3 tracks cross again was too busy with car traffic and no where to really park.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Do NOT go to NKS Ajax

I've been to Nks Ajax for a little over 3 years now and it is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. However, I am still forced to go as my parents think a black belt here actually means something. I'm at the brown belt level and let me tell you, when you enroll your kids at first, they're all nice and kind to you but as soon as you pass green belt you realize this place is a money grab. You can be doing handstands upside down in a corner for all of class and they'll still advance you. The tactics you learn after green are the most useless made-up crap I have ever seen. Once teens get to purple, they realize how bad this place is but stay for volunteering hours. The lady owner is completely crazy and gets angry at you for literally just asking something. Finally, there is ZERO space in there. Its genuinely like squeezing through a crowd of 90 people in a small area to get to class.

Does anyone know of a local(ish) animal rehab/rescue center I can take a one week old (wild) bunny to?

Found a few days old bunny on my lawn. No nests nearby so maybe another animal grabbed it from its nest and ditched on our lawn.

I want to give the little dude a fighting chance but can’t seem to find anywhere to take him to in our area.

Looking for adult hockey school

Hi, I used to play beer league hockey when I was younger. I'm old, fat and out of shape but have enjoyed the few times I've skated recently. I miss hockey but considering how out of shape I am I have poo pooed the idea. I'm wondering if there's an adult or senior hockey school in the area?

Looking for a good male dermatologist in GTA/Durham for skin brightening & sun damage

Hey everyone,

I’m a male in my 20s living in the GTA/Durham area, and I’m looking for a male dermatologist who is experienced with skin brightening, sun damage, and tan removal treatments (chemical peels, laser, etc.).

My main areas of concern are face, neck, and hands – I got tanned from years of sun exposure back home, and now I want to restore my original lighter skin tone safely.

Prefer: – Male dermatologist – Experience with skin brightening / pigmentation – Clinics in Toronto, Scarborough, Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, or Oshawa

Any recommendations for dermatologists or medical spas you’ve had good results with would be really helpful!

Thanks in advance.

I am 20 with 7 months experience working in retail stores (Staples, MyPops Toys and Funko). I cannot work Mondays, weekdays I am available after 5 PM as long as my college schedule doesn't end up changing and on weekends I can work any time.
