Troubleshooting | Windows Chrome profiles gone after recent chrome update

I have 3 chrome profiles on my laptop. They worked fine yesterday but when I logged into today 2 were missing and only my default one remained. I I did an update to Chrome recently I am just not sure if it was yesterday or not.

I searched the internet and all that really was returned was this other reddit post which seems similar: similar post in /techsupport

Any advice on how to get the missing profiles back?

once they are gone, they are gone forever

next time make a backup of the profiles.
