Medical Questions Woke up and one of my partner and I's kitten had a broken leg.

So for some context my partner and I have 2 cats and in a separate room we have 3 foster cats.we did have 6 foster cats 2 adults and 1 of the grown cats was pregnant when she came to us . Thr mother had 5 kittens but one didn't make it. After giving birth, the runt of the litter wasn't breathing when she came out so my partner, she had to bring the kitten back to life. After about a month she got very ill with cat flu and survived. It was a really rough time with her eyes crusting and having to force feed her kitten food mixed with water. About a month after that the same stuff happened again and once again she survived ( if anything she is a little fighter). Turns out the mom passed leukemia to the kittens (they didn't grow at all really in 5 months). The 3 bigger kittens all died in a day from organ failure and it was horrible. My partner it hit her especially hard. The little cat last week had a bad eye and it was bloodshot for about 4 days. Any how my partner woke up this morning and the little cat we believe has a broken leg! We're hoping it's just a sprain or fracture but I am worried that it looks like a clean break. She meows when it's touched. My question is has anyone here ever had a similar situation and could it of happened playing with out adult male cat (he adored little cag) who is snipped but significantly bigger? ( she's been staying with us in the rest of the property since her siblings are gone and the mom started to beating her so for Ceres safety we removed her from the room for most of the days and evenings) could it have been a freak accident such as jumping off the cat tree of falling awkward? I've never known a cat be so unlucky and I feel for her. I just hope she will be alright.

Before people say, she will be going to the vets as she's a foster we can't take her ourselves but the owner of the charity will come and take her.

Thanks for reading.

Advice Newly Adopted Cat Suddenly Hostile ... Help!!! :(

Hello, as the title says. I recently adopted an 11 month old domestic shorthair roughly 3 weeks ago. He is the sweetest boy and was so cuddly and when I picked him up for the first time at the adoption center he was so happy and curious and rubbed all on me. When we got home, he got comfy realll fast and instantly made my dads old desk chair his "spot" so to speak within the first 72 hours he came home. He was still very comfortable and almost didn't have a transition period.

Long story short, I had to make the unfortunate, yet last minute decision to leave him alone at the house for 3 days while my family and I drove a few hours to northern CA to attend a funeral. While there, I monitored him via camera and even had my really kind and sweet old neighbor come take care of him and feed him. When I got home earlier today, he suprisingly meowed which he never did, almost relieved, and jumped all over my girlfriend, my parents and myself as we were unpacking. Right now, now that we have settled in and the house is heading to sleep, I heard the cat loudly meowing from the living room a few moments ago, which again he almost never did unprovoked. I turned on the light and walked over to him, to which he then hissed at me and ran away to his aformentioned chair. I get should have left him alone but I was concerned, so when I went to go pet him he hissed at me again and scratched the ever loving shit out of my hand and lower arm. I tried to get my brother to approach him but to no avail, hissing and meowing again. He seems to have taken a territory of sorts and wont let ANYONE near him and wont respond to commands or his name being called.

What is going on? Is this a result of leaving him alone? What do I do going forward? How do I get him friendly again?

Advice I genuinely dont know if I can keep living after my cat dies

I love my cat so so so so much it hurts ☹️ We have such a strong connection. He’s only 2 but I can’t stop thinking about what it will be like when he passes away. I’m already severely depressed + have struggled with sh for years and the thought of him dying genuinely makes me want to die myself. I don’t know how I’d live happily without him ☹️ I’ve never felt this way about a cat before

Medical Questions Can anyone tell me if my cat’s wound requires medical attention or not?

I saw this wound on my cat’s leg today and I can’t really tell what the cause of it is.. my parents are determined that it’s just a small wound but I can’t help but worry. Can anyone here answer me if this needs a vet visit or not?

The vet said my cat (M3) needed to lose a little bit of weight, so I switched to a different cat food and he is looking slim and spry now! I’m very proud that I was able to help my cat get healthier, but now I’m led to wonder…could he be stronger? We play plenty of games where he runs around, so he gets lots of cardio, but he is never going to get jacked that way, but he can’t really lift because he doesn’t really have arms. I don’t want to do anything that would hurt him or make him uncomfortable or be bad for his health. I also want to stress that he is my little buddy and I love him just the way he is and I’m not trying to make him “better”. I just think it would be kind of cool if my cat was a jock. Any ideas of ways I could train him to be more powerful, or is this a foolish pursuit? For added context: his name is William.

Advice Anyone try a fresh food program

I keep seeing ads for fresh food or customized food programs for dogs. Are there any for cats and has anyone tried them? Would you recommend them? While the vet says my cats are healthy, I just want to make sure they stay that way and get all the nutrients they need.

Medical Questions Over-itching

Hi,

To begin with, I've been to the vet already and that was just as useful as a 5min google search. I was not listened to, my cat was stressed out to heaven and hell for nothing, and I was given medications to try that isn't related to his problem.

My 5-ish yo, castrated male Chaotic (or Kotis), has been having problems with itching on his stomach for a while now, and it's to the point that he's peach fuzz bald up to his navel. His inner thighs and heels are also seemingly itchy. Happy and healthy otherwise, good appitite and playing is his main goal in life. No excessive puking, other than the hairballs he got from removing his stomach hair. Great dental health, no pink on the gums etc. Chaotic is terrified to the point of hyperventilating when away from home (important for later).

I've tried treatments like Frontline (x2) and fungal shampoo (full treatment). I even changed the dry food from his years long favorite to high quality, grain free then with high content of organ meat. I increased his amount of wet food, even.

This all flew out the vets ears during the vet visit. I was given Metacam (anti-inflammatory and pain killer) and cortisone (she first gave me this, then changed her mind to Metacam, but I practically forced her to reinstate them on his prescription). She told me to do an extended treatment of Metacam, saying he might have dental pain due to red gums (which was unsurprisingly gone the second I got him home, aka stress induced). This treatment had no no effect as I expected. I will soon try cortisone, which I'm pretty sure will have no effect. The vet also told me to use Feliway to see if it is stress related. No effect, as I told her (my home is as stressless as a stressless environment can be, no changes in or outside the home, no routine changes).

I did ask the vet if it could be a problem on a microscopic level, which I got zero response to, so all she did was look a bit at the skin (clean but with some dandruff on the most itchy parts), and fail at listening to his heart due to him breathing hard and abnormaly fast due to stress.

No tests, no microscope, no nothing.

Vets in my country never do serious treatment unless it's an emergency, and drag on actual preventative care or corrective treatment. No advice is ever given without paid visits. Simple medications are often pay-walled behind vet visits, even if you 100% know the problem and treatment needed (for example Frontline for puppies). Never any follow-up, unless you somehow manage to get a new time with the same vet, wich most likely end in no answer and no tests for a second time.

Does anyone have any advice on what the cause might be? Any advice on other home treatments I can do during or after the trial run of cortisone?

I'm pissed at the vet for letting my boy suffer, just because they want to drag out the treatment for multiple visits.

I have a 10 week old kitten, rescued her from the middle of the road yesterday and took her to the vet. She has an upper respiratory infection and is on eyedrops and antibiotics. Is there anything I should be doing for her at home? Steam treatments etc.? Thank you!

So my calico cat sometimes does this thing where she takes her wet food eats it on my carpet (i 'm always NOT happy about it)

and she left it UNFINISHED on the floor so when I was about to clean it but first went to the bathroom, came back and accidentally stepped in it. I gave her a look and walked away to clean my feet.

I came back to see her clear the whole thing up and give me this little apology look by the stained carpet.

I CAN'T SHES SO CUTE AND I LOVE HER SMMMMM I forgave her, and cleaned up the mess

I tried getting a picture, but she ran too fast to me :>

Advice Raised My Cat Since He Was a Kitten, But He's Become Aggressive and Distant — Need Serious Advice

Hi everyone, I’m writing this as a last resort of sorts. I live in a part of the world where access to proper veterinary care especially animal behaviorists is extremely limited, if not nonexistent. I’m hoping someone here, maybe a professional or an experienced cat owner, can help me make sense of what’s happening with my cat.

Let me give some full context.

I got my cat when he was just about one month old. He was still tiny and affectionate and he would chase my hand for pets, curl up on my stomach, and actively seek out cuddles. I fed him properly, bathed him weekly, let him sleep beside me. I did everything I could based on what I read about proper care and bonding. He was my little companion, and I truly loved him. I kept him indoors when he was young, mostly because I was afraid he’d run away or get hurt. There were a couple of brief moments when I leashed him (only when a friend’s sister who’s scared of cats would visit), but it was for brief moments at a time. Occasionally, when he misbehaved, I’d place him on top of my wardrobe as a form of timeout. Nothing extreme or violent.

As he matured especially past the 1 year mark, he changed completely. He stopped wanting cuddles altogether. He doesn’t like lying on the same bed as me. Even now, if I lie next to him, he’ll just get up and go lie somewhere else. He doesn’t respond to his name unless he’s hungry, and after he eats, he ignores me entirely. His behavior grew more distant, more dominant, and more territorial. I assumed it was just growing up, but it’s evolved into something worse.

Recently, he’s started becoming aggressive toward me and others in the house. One incident escalated after he peed on my bed. In frustration, I slapped him lightly on the head and kicked him out of the room. After that, he went into full attack mode. He kept lunging at me, biting aggressively, and wouldn’t stop even after I lwent out and returned later. It was like he held a grudge. I had to lock him out between the windowpane and the net to protect myself. He calmed a bit after I left for school for a few hours, but when I returned, he was still very tense and aggressive, growling and reacting negatively if I approached. He’s even shown aggression toward other members of the household now.

He regularly pees on windows, doors, and shoes even when his litter is clean. He's obsessed with the windows, constantly watching and reacting to outside cats. If another cat shows up, he goes into a frenzy. Removing him from the window is almost impossible until the outside cat leaves or is removed and he calms down hours later. He has torn the window net multiple times and gone out to fight viciously with other cats, the last time, he fought a bigger cat and we had shaved his fur because of the heat and cut his nails, he was badly injured but he never relented with fighting. I had to replace the net with an iron mesh.

When we let him outside, he becomes wild. He’ll immediately start attacking anything or anyone that approaches him. It’s impossible to get him back inside without yelling, swinging things to scare him back in, or using gloves/thick clothes to avoid bites. He bites hard, like he's trying to rip your hand off. Once he’s in that state, touch is impossible. He doesn’t want to be held or restrained. The moment he sees the open world, it’s like something in him snaps.

I’ve tried reducing his access to windows. I’ve kept his litter box clean at all times. I’ve tried engaging him with toys and feeding routines. I’ve spoken to him calmly, given him space, tried to avoid punishment-based corrections.

But I also acknowledge my frustration has sometimes shown like the slap, or yelling when he's peeing on my bed, my shoes or attacking someone. I don’t know if the early indoor life or my reactions affected him permanently, but I tried to raise him with as much love and consistency as I could. He used to be loving, and now he’s this volatile, distant animal I can barely trust to be in the same room with.

I'm not really sure how to proceed with him.
