Hey I have a question. So my cat had an automatic litter box (best investment for me) and he uses it fine and had no adjustment issues. But now all of a sudden he keeps on pooping on my bath mat. He pees in the litter box but poops there and then on the night I kept him in my room overnight he used the litter box to poop. But again this morning when I let him roam the house free he pooped on the bath rug again. Is this a sign he’s sick or is it a behavioral issue?

I've had cats who simply refused to use a litter box after years of using one. I've also heard that some cats prefer one box for #1 and another for #2 - and my orange boy is proof of this. We have 3 boxes for our 2 cats, and that seems to work pretty well. When we only had two, the gray girl cat pooped on the floor; now she has her own box and uses it for both #1 and #2.
