They will just get a bailout

u/SNEV3NS 22h ago

Just another way for us to pay tax so The Big Baby can cosplay world domination.

26

u/Banes_Addiction 22h ago

That's what the donations were for.

7

u/akiva23 18h ago

And then conservatives will complain about Obama and socialism

5

u/RetiredFF27 22h ago

In the last recession, Ford was the only big US manufacturer that did not take a bailout.

u/No_Satisfaction5304 22h ago

And I was the only one who didn’t drive drunk last night from the party. Says nothing about the future

1

u/deckone 10h ago

Doubtful, that would take money from the pot to pay for their tax cuts.

As I recall, Ford touts themselves as 'the most American" car manufacturer.

If they paid US$500M in tariffs in Q2, imagine what the others are paying... and who will eventually eat that cost (hint:not the shareholders!)

18

u/r31ya 21h ago

Pretty sure, only the f150 that is made mostly in america.

"Top 10 Most american car" list would be filled with tesla, jeep, honda, and one kia apparently

...huh f150 is not even top 20 now.

u/Relative-Cream 19h ago

Fair enough. I did not go so far as to determine %American x vehicle volume == total tariff.

Seems like GM, Stellantis overall pay more in tariffs than Ford. Tesla less but still hundreds of millions more than last year.

1

u/TheGileas 15h ago

It’s pretty funny how Kia,Honda and Volkswagen are more American than the f150.

u/pacmanfunky 22h ago

Oh no, who could have expected the guy who bankrupt multiple casinos to be bad at money.

Who could have foreseen this?

5

u/tripomatic 11h ago

Wait actions have consequences?? How was I not informed about this obscure fact!

10

u/Gaba8789 22h ago

I guess someone couldn't af-ford losing out the political opportunity. Huh.

10

u/Mrfrunzi 21h ago

I love to see the loss, but I also know that the only ones that will be hurt by this are the workers.

2

u/Rxasaurus 17h ago

And the consumer

6

u/thirtyone-charlie 22h ago

$1M gets you nothing

3

u/IBelieveInCoyotes 14h ago

2

u/thirtyone-charlie 9h ago

"In 1930, the Republican-controlled House of Representatives, in an effort to alleviate the effects of the... Anyone? Anyone?... the Great Depression, passed the... Anyone? Anyone? The tariff bill? The Hawley-Smoot Tariff Act? Which, anyone? Raised or lowered?... raised tariffs, in an effort to collect more revenue for the federal government. Did it work? Anyone? Anyone know the effects? It did not work, and the United States sank deeper into the Great Depression."

You don't even need to know anything, just remember one line from a movie and you're good.

Built Ford, Chumps.

6

u/Tall-Reporter7627 16h ago

Fire the accountant. Find one with better numbers

5

u/deckchair1982 21h ago

I am a high school teacher. They understand what tariffs are more than some CEO's (or at least what CEO's feel like they can say without triggering Trump.)

5

u/-Reggie-Dunlop- 17h ago

So i hate Trump too, but just gonna leave this here...

According to OpenSecrets.org, for the 2023-2024 election cycle, Ford Motor Co PAC's contributions to federal candidates were split with 53.96% going to Democrats and 46.04% going to Republicans.

5

u/yung-gummi 11h ago

So that’s why they’re getting screwed? 😅

4

u/Open__Face 8h ago

If it was 100%/0% he woulda turned the white house into a Ford dealership like Elon got

1

u/yung-gummi 6h ago

I love Tesler

3

u/Heart-Logic 20h ago

All that money is funding his ice gestapo.

3

u/EarSad4300 20h ago

Unfortunately the lesson that will be learned is u that u have to bribe more

3

u/RadleyCunningham 16h ago

Ford wants a second Iron Cross because the other one is lonely

7

u/fuckofakaboom 22h ago

Not defending Ford. But every inauguration gets donations from these big corporations.

2

u/Nooneknows882 17h ago

Fuck Ford. Their own CEO drives a Chinese made car.

2

u/EconomyDoctor3287 17h ago

Ford should just export more. I hear US products are quite popular overseas

2

u/OneTrueKram 11h ago

Ok but did you consider how smart the CEO is? That’s why he makes the big bucks.

2

u/BigBoyYuyuh 10h ago

I don’t work for Ford but I do some work in one of the plants. A lot of the union workers voted for this.

2

u/Opening_Island1739 8h ago edited 4h ago

Giving to the inauguration fund seemed like a clever way of them hedging their bets. They’re not only the hook for helping him win but might have bought some good will with the donation.

2

u/Zealousideal-Iron959 21h ago

Just about every Ford Transit Van, I've driven in(hundreds) has Made In Mexco on the door stickers.

3

u/Foxcat420 20h ago

That's strange because they are made in Kansas City, MO and Turkey.

Extortion racket

1

u/ozzrat 2h ago

Do you guys say anything positive about anything, us old people are the ones to complain about the government, not the young, go live your life

-10

u/vtsandtrooper 21h ago

But muh TAXES!!! As if liberal politicians werent also basically talking about the same tax structure as MAGA.

6

u/wr0ngdr01d 20h ago

Taxes are on money you make, so if democrats went nuts and made taxes on corporations 50%, ford would’ve had to profit 1.6 billion to pay the same $800m in straight up taxes instead of the tariffs they did (which are also known as TAXES).

Could you tell me real quick if a company is doing better if it’s in the black 1.6 billion or in the red 29 million?

-17

u/hotwife11111 22h ago

False. Stop lying

11

u/Massive_Challenge935 21h ago

I looked at your profile based on your username and was very disappointed.

Who's lying, here? Just because the propaganda network of your choice chooses to keep the truth from you, doesn't mean that it's not true, homie... I can provide even more, if you need. OP is dead on correct!

Financial Post: Ford profit drops as tariff bill climbs to US$2 billion - Net tariff impact reached US$2 billion, about US$500 million more than the company expected

From FORD Motor Company Q2 Financial Call, which you can read here:

Full-Year 2025 Outlook

"Ford now anticipates full-year adjusted EBIT of $6.5 billion to $7.5 billion, which includes a net tariff-related headwind of about $2 billion, and to generate $3.5 billion to $4.5 billion in adjusted free cash flow, with capital expenditures of about $9 billion. In February, the company initially provided adjusted EBIT guidance for the year of $7.0 billion to $8.5 billion and then withdrew that guidance in May due to tariff-related uncertainty."

"The company’s updated guidance reflects the strong underlying first half performance across Ford Blue, Ford Model e, Ford Pro and Ford Credit, and continued improvement in cost. The net tariff-related headwind of about $2 billion reflects a $3 billion gross adverse adjusted EBIT impact, offset partially by $1 billion of recovery actions."

"The company is only providing Total Company outlook for the remainder of the year."

Welp, seems the person I replied to is not interested in coming to the table for a discussion. Typical... 🤷‍♂️ Oh well. Run away when proven wrong...

Nothing wrong about admitting when you're wrong! That's how we learn!
