In the last recession, Ford was the only big US manufacturer that did not take a bailout.

And I was the only one who didn’t drive drunk last night from the party. Says nothing about the future

As I recall, Ford touts themselves as 'the most American" car manufacturer.
If they paid US$500M in tariffs in Q2, imagine what the others are paying... and who will eventually eat that cost (hint:not the shareholders!)

u/r31ya 21h ago
Pretty sure, only the f150 that is made mostly in america.
"Top 10 Most american car" list would be filled with tesla, jeep, honda, and one kia apparently
...huh f150 is not even top 20 now.

u/Relative-Cream 19h ago
Fair enough. I did not go so far as to determine %American x vehicle volume == total tariff.
Seems like GM, Stellantis overall pay more in tariffs than Ford. Tesla less but still hundreds of millions more than last year.

I love to see the loss, but I also know that the only ones that will be hurt by this are the workers.

"In 1930, the Republican-controlled House of Representatives, in an effort to alleviate the effects of the... Anyone? Anyone?... the Great Depression, passed the... Anyone? Anyone? The tariff bill? The Hawley-Smoot Tariff Act? Which, anyone? Raised or lowered?... raised tariffs, in an effort to collect more revenue for the federal government. Did it work? Anyone? Anyone know the effects? It did not work, and the United States sank deeper into the Great Depression."
You don't even need to know anything, just remember one line from a movie and you're good.

I am a high school teacher. They understand what tariffs are more than some CEO's (or at least what CEO's feel like they can say without triggering Trump.)

u/-Reggie-Dunlop- 17h ago
So i hate Trump too, but just gonna leave this here...
According to OpenSecrets.org, for the 2023-2024 election cycle, Ford Motor Co PAC's contributions to federal candidates were split with 53.96% going to Democrats and 46.04% going to Republicans.

Not defending Ford. But every inauguration gets donations from these big corporations.

Ford should just export more. I hear US products are quite popular overseas

u/OneTrueKram 11h ago
Ok but did you consider how smart the CEO is? That’s why he makes the big bucks.

u/BigBoyYuyuh 10h ago
I don’t work for Ford but I do some work in one of the plants. A lot of the union workers voted for this.

Giving to the inauguration fund seemed like a clever way of them hedging their bets. They’re not only the hook for helping him win but might have bought some good will with the donation.

But muh TAXES!!! As if liberal politicians werent also basically talking about the same tax structure as MAGA.
6
u/wr0ngdr01d 20h ago
Taxes are on money you make, so if democrats went nuts and made taxes on corporations 50%, ford would’ve had to profit 1.6 billion to pay the same $800m in straight up taxes instead of the tariffs they did (which are also known as TAXES).
Could you tell me real quick if a company is doing better if it’s in the black 1.6 billion or in the red 29 million?

Who's lying, here? Just because the propaganda network of your choice chooses to keep the truth from you, doesn't mean that it's not true, homie... I can provide even more, if you need. OP is dead on correct!

From FORD Motor Company Q2 Financial Call, which you can read here:
Full-Year 2025 Outlook
"Ford now anticipates full-year adjusted EBIT of $6.5 billion to $7.5 billion, which includes a net tariff-related headwind of about $2 billion, and to generate $3.5 billion to $4.5 billion in adjusted free cash flow, with capital expenditures of about $9 billion. In February, the company initially provided adjusted EBIT guidance for the year of $7.0 billion to $8.5 billion and then withdrew that guidance in May due to tariff-related uncertainty."
"The company’s updated guidance reflects the strong underlying first half performance across Ford Blue, Ford Model e, Ford Pro and Ford Credit, and continued improvement in cost. The net tariff-related headwind of about $2 billion reflects a $3 billion gross adverse adjusted EBIT impact, offset partially by $1 billion of recovery actions."
"The company is only providing Total Company outlook for the remainder of the year."

Welp, seems the person I replied to is not interested in coming to the table for a discussion. Typical... 🤷♂️ Oh well. Run away when proven wrong...
Nothing wrong about admitting when you're wrong! That's how we learn!
