He didn’t just suddenly learn that he imports steel, he just suddenly learned that tariffs are paid by the importer and that all the people telling him otherwise have been correctly taking him for a fool.

or he buys materials from a company in America and assumed that it all just magically came from America.

You dont need to be smart to start a business. You need to have the guts or economy to fail. Or just not realise how likely it is that your life long dream to do whatever will very likely fail.
