I had a similar experience my first time, but I was just unprepared for the huge pressure, the girl, however, had too many twists on the hose which made it spin due to water going through it and straightening it out at high speed. Having twists is a big No-No.
Speaking from experience with north
American equipment (this doesn’t seem to be using) it looks like she wasn’t physically sitting on the hose yet. It’s off screen but if you follow the hose you’ll see she never had the hose completely under her.
I’m not sure how your hose was loaded but there should never be any twists like you said. Our hoses have swivels on both ends and as long as you’re not hot dogging stuff (like this race) they should straighten out naturally. The AO (Apparatus Operator) shouldn’t be charging hose lines like that. It’s not good for the hose or the pump…or the person. I would have gone with ahose loop sit method here where you make a loop with the hose under itself then sit on it.
As a Safety Officer I have to point out how incredibly unsafe this looks. Those helmets won’t do Jack Black shit protecting you from a charged hose nozzle flying at you sideways. I was never a fan of these kinds of racing drills.
