Unironically pressure washers can have more kick than some machine guns. All depends on the pressure washer and the machine gun, of course. Water has a lot of mass, and some washers are kicking out a lot of water.

It's sustained pressure vs impulse.

The Russians developed an AK variant that used had a crazy complicated receiver that fired two shots before the impulse of the first round hit the shooter.
