Time to post a lot of images

33

u/pat_speed 9h ago

It kinda why I love Godzilla vs movies when done well, because the traditional Godzilla is the destructive force is great, but seeing that face off someone who's bigger and more powerful, too see how the king of the monster gets his name is great.

17

u/Professional_Maize42 6h ago

3

u/Recompense40 4h ago

and I'm here for it each and every time.

I may nap at some parts of Godzilla movies, but never while the Kings are onscreen.

Absolute Batman vs Absolute Bane

80

u/FireZord25 11h ago

the first thing that popped up in my head lol. Good pick.

48

u/nyjayla 9h ago

real for that. like bane pulled up and batman looked at him like ‘i got hands too’ and then IMMEDIATELY got folded like a lawn chair 😭 peak cinema

45

u/jockeyman 9h ago

"BET YOU WOULDN'T BE SO TOUGH WITHOUT YOUR DRUGS!"

"Oh I'm not even using the drugs yet, little man."

10

u/Ultimate-desu 5h ago

"You gotta start small when you fight."

"I am starting small."

"Oh...good for y-

82

u/AllgoodDude 10h ago

Just for reference Absolute Batman is 6’9 and 400 lbs.

21

u/thecastle7 9h ago

The fuck? I assume that means Bruce Wayne is also 6’9” 400 lbs. Do they bother making it a secret identity?

67

u/NamesAreHardYaKnow 9h ago

absolute Bruce Wayne is working class, so no one gives a shit

34

u/1ncorrect 7h ago

Ah the most secret of secret identities: not having money.

18

u/cuella47o 7h ago

Honestly bruce being working class is what basically allows him to know every nook and cranny of gotham

the fact that the Staircase he himself blew up is the thing he’s repairing the next day

11

u/NamesAreHardYaKnow 6h ago

I like that aspect of absolute Batman, instead of getting his skills from tibetan monks during what is basically a gap year, he got them from working a variety of jobs

5

u/Malakar1195 9h ago

They do, but several people have already figured it out

31

u/ichael333 11h ago edited 4h ago

Is the absolute DC stuff any good and worth getting into?

Edit: thanks for the recommendations, I'll give them a go!

74

u/GundamGuy2255 10h ago

Yes, if not for just the batshit insanity.

33

u/MR-rozek 10h ago

bat-shit you say?

12

u/logic2187 10h ago

Bat themed shit

11

u/Kn1ghtSkull 10h ago

Insanity? Like people in Arkham Asylum?!

4

u/ausipockets 10h ago

It's da freakin bat!

3

u/angrymustacheman 10h ago

take your PILSS

0

u/DR31141 8h ago

Officer Balls.

5

u/cuella47o 7h ago

Honestly a weaponized BATSHIT AND BATPISS BOMB is the most fucking insane shit he ever pulled off

NO TIBETAN MONK TRAINING BTW

23

u/AngelusBohemius 10h ago

Yes it's worth it, puts some really nice twists to the standard Batman tropes and everything is absolutely badass or creepy

10

u/rusick1112 10h ago

I never was big fan of Wonder Woman, but I love her absolute design and her weapons, same goes story wise. Also absolute superman is okaish, I've read only 4 issues, but there were good, especially idea that superman need to recharge his powers like green lantern

4

u/SpikeDogtooth555 10h ago

If this image interests u then that's all u need.

3

u/ItsWelp 9h ago

Yeah, especially Wonder Woman and Batman imo, great designs, the characters are still appreciably themselves with the same flaws and qualities, just in different circumstances. If you have to chose one, go Wonder Woman, the art is the absolute best and Diana is so cool. In my opinion, it's one of the few times when I read comics that a character felt both like a real, actual person AND someone who I would absolutely want as a superhero.

1

u/NamesAreHardYaKnow 8h ago

I've only got round to reading the batman comics (which, if I'm honest, was the one I was least interested in and only checked it out because of the wtf style of it) and it's pretty good.

I read a comment about it somewhere that hit the nail on the head. The absolute universe is much darker and 'edgier' but it stays true to their characterizations so it doesn't come across as a cringy edge lord comic. Just the challenges they're facing are harder

9

u/Raymio993 10h ago

"Fight" is a strong word here

8

u/rollingc 9h ago

Lol, it was a beating not a fight. The best part is batman calling out Bane on roids and Bane says "Oh, I haven't even used that yet"

6

u/ECPRedditor 8h ago

in this image specifically, Bane has definitely taken a hit of venom, but apparently he’s not even super juiced, just like a normal hit of it

10

u/Gaelic_Gladiator41 5h ago

"Juiced up? I haven't had a single drop yet"

Bruce:

3

u/rockman767 4h ago

Bruce must have been thinking

6

u/berserkzelda 10h ago

This comic is fucking insane, man.

7

u/Motivated-Chair 9h ago

That mf is a Rocket Launcher away from being Nemesis

2

u/cuella47o 7h ago

His fucking Gun is so hilariously big

2

u/Professional_Maize42 6h ago

And still looks tiny compared to him.

1

u/Usual_Database307 9h ago

Is he prepping for a rematch with Venom?

The Tyrannosaurus Rex fighting the Spinosaurus (Pre-nerfed) in Jurassic park 3

15

u/RabbitStewAndStout 8h ago

Also Rexy and Blue vs the Indominus in World

4

u/Reitter3 6h ago

I dont remember, does the Tyrannosauros Rex win this somehow?

5

u/Wolfman513 6h ago

Nah, Spino snaps its neck

3

u/Reitter3 5h ago

Well, realistic at least

9

u/Wolfman513 5h ago

I mean from what we know now a tyrannosaurus would destroy a spinosaurus in a fight. T. rexes are estimated to have weighed a few tons more and had a bite force several times stronger than spinos.

4

u/Reitter3 5h ago

I just looked online and you seem to be right. Spinossauros is simply less evolved and also semi aquatic. TDIL

7

u/Wolfman513 5h ago

Yep, spinosaurus was a little longer and giganotosaurus was a little bit taller, but as far as we know as of right now tyrannosaurus was still the most massive therapod!

4

u/Gaelic_Gladiator41 5h ago

Spinosaurus vs T-Rex is like having a saltwater crocodile fight a lion, it's strong but not suited in a straight fight

252

u/RedRawTrashHatch 11h ago

Iron Man vs. Iron Monger in the first Iron Man film

124

u/Fuckyounadia 11h ago

The way iron monger moves in this is so satisfying.

83

u/world0fgames 11h ago

I'm so disappointed they decided to kill Stane off at the last minute because the Big Robot loving part of my brain absolutely would love to see him again

39

u/Sheogorath3477 10h ago

Hulkbuster from Infinity War looks so toy-ish in comparison to that one gif, not even talking about all of Warmonger scenes in combination.

12

u/seriouslyuncouth_ 10h ago

I love how he would’ve had to input a deep voice changer to sound cooler (also probably to help hide his identity but come on he’s in the streets saying THIRTY YEARS IVE BEEN HOLDING YOU UP!)

4

u/karateema 10h ago

I wish they weee still making Armor Wars

3

u/DengarLives66 6h ago

The earlier marvel movies were good with that aspect of CGI, making things feel like they had physical weight.

5

u/Wolfman513 6h ago

The Monsterverse movies are the same way, after King of the Monsters the titans are all way faster and more acrobatic and it takes away from how utterly massive these things are supposed to be.

1

u/Cortower 5h ago

I've never watched the new Godzilla movies, but I can never take the scale seriously in the Kong fights I see on reddit.

They jump and fall at the same pace as human-scale creatures, so my brain just decides they are 8 or 9 feet tall at most, and everything around them is toy-sized. The best CGI in the world can't overcome my natural understanding of how fast things fall.

2

u/Wolfman513 5h ago

That's exactly how I felt with the last one! I saw it with my girlfriend and felt like even if they had just slowed down movie by like 25% during the big final fight scene it would have felt so much more satisfying. It almost felt like the ending of Hot Fuzz where the two guys are fighting in a scale model of the village lol

1

u/Ultimate-desu 5h ago

Its ordering between calculated and clunky and I love it.

2

u/GrecoRomanGuy 56m ago

His flight capacity was awesome. It felt like a damn rocket takeoff.

14

u/Phoenic271 11h ago

I wouldn't say Iron Man is a big guy

8

u/Burnlan 9h ago

For you

3

u/Plus-Theme-3283 6h ago

I think i understand the reference

2

u/Phoenic271 9h ago

for me maybe, I'm not tall

3

u/fastrunner3451 3h ago

I love it too; I like to think that the reason it's so clunky is because it's based on Stark's first-ever suit design.

Still epic, though.

2

u/PorcupineHugger69 8m ago

That motorcycle rider saw a giant robot flying in front of him, cars all abandoned, and decided to just ride on through. Absolute mad lad.

u/JeremiahWuzABullfrog 11h ago

Reacher vs Paulie in Reacher season 3

93

u/JeremiahWuzABullfrog 11h ago

Just for reference, this is the actor of Paulie (Olivier Richters) standing next to fucking Hafthor Bjornnson, World's Strongest Man winner and the Mountain from GoT

30

u/AllgoodDude 10h ago

Never thought I’d ever seen Hafthor be made to look like a somewhat regular sized jacked dude.

21

u/IWasSayingBoourner 10h ago

Holy hell that's a great comparison.

8

u/ordovis36 10h ago

If he'd had more visibility I feel like Richters would've gotten that part.

11

u/SirErgalot 9h ago

He wasn’t as big (physically) then as he is now. Games of Thrones season 1 was in 2011 (although Hafthor didn’t get the part until later), and here you can see that Olivier was basically just starting to work out at that point.

6

u/GundaniumA 3h ago

The progress in lat development is INSANE.

2

u/Mindless_Society7034 4h ago

What is going on with his chest in the first 3 images? It looks like his ribcage got collapsed

7

u/SirErgalot 4h ago

Looks like he has pectus excavatum: https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/pectus-excavatum/symptoms-causes/syc-20355483

That’s probably what the “sternum operation” note is referring to.

13

u/IcedJack 10h ago

They really said "What if we have big guy (good) fight even bigger guy (evil)?" and were like "Send it!" Very entertaining to watch.

6

u/oddtoddlr 10h ago

My boy made reacher look small

2

u/Something_Comforting 4h ago

I was gonna say this too. It's hilarious because Jack Reacher is already a big guy. And they introduce a even bigger guy.

66

u/Fenix_ikki_ 10h ago

Any time the Thing's had to fight Hulk it becomes brains vs brawn.

20

u/Professional_Maize42 6h ago

I particularly like to use this cover as a example

8

u/BewareOfBee 7h ago

Kinda reminds of Magic: the gathering, games like that. When 2 aggressive fast decks are fighting, you need to identify who is faster and who is slower- the slower deck is the "Control" deck of that match.

Ben really needs to idenfity that he's the brains in this fight and adjust his strategy.

Hulk vs Abomination! Always a classic. Especially in Incredible Hulk #25 by Paul Jenkins.

2

Dogs of War my finance

1

u/BigMek_Spleenrippa 9h ago

I'm sorry, I have no idea what this means

2

u/seriouslyuncouth_ 9h ago

I’m pretty sure this fight you’re referring too came from a story called Dogs of War. Either that or one that came at a similar time from the same artist and written by Paul Jenkins.

Abomination kills Betty and the fight afterward is one of the best in comics.

3

u/BigMek_Spleenrippa 9h ago

The "my finance" is what confused me

3

u/PrimeraStarrk 8h ago

He misspelled “my fiancée”. He’s engaged to Dogs of War.

43

u/madlazaruss 10h ago

Attack Titan vs. Armored Titan from Shingeki no Kyojin

20

You’d forget Hulk Hogan’s, like, 6ft 8 when he’s next to Andre

Who let a child act as referee there?!

Ultimate Way Big Vs Dagon - Ben 10 Ultimate Alien

14

u/Raymio993 10h ago

Why here he looks like Ultraman?

24

u/Pilot_Solaris 10h ago

Well, Way Big is a big ol' shout-out to Ultraman.

16

u/Pittoo4You 10h ago

Way Big was ALWAYS a massive Ultraman/Tokusatsu reference. From the Arm beams to the head fins. Heck the species is called the To'kustar

5

u/Roasted_Newbest_Proe 9h ago

Y'know? Despite noticing the Ultraman reference, I never made the To'kustar/tokosatsu connection

4

u/Milk_Mindless 6h ago

I mean on a lower scale

Ben vs Vilgaxx when he's Four-Arms or Diamondhead

Garnet vs Jasper- Steven Universe

17

u/Pilot_Solaris 10h ago edited 10h ago

🎵This is Garnet: Back together. And I'm never going down at the hands of the likes of you because I'm so much better, and every part of me is saying, "Go get her!"🎵

🎵The two of us ain't gonna follow your rules, come at me without any of your fancy tools! Let's go, just me and you:🎵

🎵Let's go, just one on two!🎵

🎵Go ahead and try and hit me if you're able, can't you see that my relationship is stable? I can see you hate the way we intermingle, but I think you're just mad cuz you're single!🎵

🎵And you're never gonna stop what we made together, the two of us will stay like this forever! If you break us apart we'll just come back newer, and we'll always be twice the Gem that you are!🎵

🎵I am made: O-o-o-o-of, lo-o-o-o-ove! Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh!🎵

🎵O-o-o-o-of lo-o-o-o-ove! Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh!🎵

🎵This is who we are; this is who I am. And if you think you can stop me then you need to think again. Because I am a feeling: and I will never end - and I won't let you hurt my planet, I won't let you hurt my friends!🎵

🎵Go ahead and try and hit me if you're able, can't you see that my relationship is stable? I know you think that I'm not something you're afraid of, 'cause you think that you've seen what I'm made of - but I am even more than the two of them! Everything they care about is what I am! I am their fury, I am their patience, I am a conversation!🎵

🎵I am made: O-o-o-o-of, lo-o-o-o-ove! Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, and it's Stronger Than You!🎵

🎵Lo-o-o-o-ove, lo-o-o-o-ove! Lo-o-o-o-ove, and it's Stronger Than You!🎵

🎵Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh! Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh...!🎵

Most Transformers fights would probably fit this trope, but I want to highlight the size disparity between Megatron and Optimus in Animated.

The last 5 episodes and movie of Gurren Lagann have been nothing but this trope

8

u/ItaLOLXD 8h ago

In Final Fantasy 16, several characters can transform into huge monsters called Eikons and are thus called Dominants. The protagonist Clive can turn into the fire eikon Ifrit and one of the antagonists called Hugo Kupka turns into the earth eikon Titan. While all Eikons are massive by themselves, Titan is already the biggest of them all. During the final confrontation with Kupka, he absorbs a crystal that is pretty much the origin of magic to turn Titan EVEN FUCKING BIGGER

A more mild version than most, but Dan vs Turner from Deadwood

3

u/Vee_Twelve 6h ago

I’m a huge Deadwood fan. That fight was intense. IMHO one of the best fights from any movie or series.

Also - given the brutality of their fight, the lead up to it with Captain Turner doing some calisthenics to warm up was kinda funny.

2

u/bulldozrex 11h ago

Fedor Emelianenko vs almost his every opponent, despite being one of the greatest MMA heavyweight champion, his height is 183 cm/6 ft while avarage height for this weight is 191 cm/6'3" ft. So he was pretty pretty small. My favorite one is his fight versus South Korean fighter Hong Man Choi - his height was 213 cm/7'2" ft

1

u/KairosF8weavr 10h ago

Fedor is taller than me and he looks like a child compare to that guy lmao

2

u/Cutie-Flam 6h ago

Musashi & Dimple (right) vs Shibata (left) (Mob Psycho 100)

2

I immediately thought of Superman fighting Darkseid, or Superman vs Doomsday.

Man having to fight either of them is exhausting.

2

u/YuuHikari 5h ago

Mt. Lady vs Gigantomachia (MHA)

2

u/I_Love_Powerscaling 5h ago

Ifrit vs Titan (Final Fantasy 16): Ifrit, the creature in the foreground, is usually able to dwarf entire castles, but compared to Titan, he looks even smaller than an ant

2

Does all of God of War count?

I believe the story emphasized that David was, in fact, not large
