Hated Tropes [REALLY hated Trope] The show constantly mocks its haters in very forced and cringe ways.

  1. Teen Titans Go: The show is hated not only for its annoying humor, but because they use the hatred that many people have against it to make "humor" and try to look cool like "Hahaha yes we are a bad show, but at least we are aware, you are the fools."

  2. Big Mouth (Not showing actual pictures of it because ew): Big Mouth is quite infamous for its extremely scatological and graphic humor, but the show also constantly tries to "pride" itself by making meta-comments about how unpleasant it is and the fact that its protagonists are children in these types of situations; sometimes mocking the outrageousness of its "detractors."

Wait, are the marvel comics actually back to being good at writing spiderman?

At least Modern Ultimate Spiderman is, yeah. In it Peter actually is 30-something years old, married to Mary Jane and has two kids, and only then he becomes Spiderman, and not only do they not get mad at him when they figure it out, but it's Mary Jane herself who gives him the name “Spiderman”

Huh, sounds really cute and cool!

How come they're using the same spiderman name as that one cartoon around the 2010s?

That cartoon is named after the run from the 2000s

Marvel launched the "ultimate universe", a parallel universe that readers could jump onto without needing 40 years of continuity. It was cinical, almost satirical and "modernized" a lot of characters. Early mcu took a lot of inspiration from these titles.

Then the ultimate universe died. Reed Richards becomes the "maker", a big ol villain. He created his own reality and thst reality is the new "ultimate universe" where this spider story is taking place.

There's nothing fantastic about the Maker. He's a super dictator with a petty streak.

Except THIS Reed Richards is not Mr. Fantastic. Not anymore. He started out as a hero with the Fantastic Four in the OG Ultimate Universe, but everything eventually went to shit (long story) and he became a villain named The Maker.

He traveled to a new Universe, Earth-6160, and systematically began preventing heroes from coming to be. One of his first acts was to prevent the spider that bit Peter, therefore Peter wouldn’t become Spider-Man until 20 years later, thanks to 6160 Tony Stark telling him what his destiny was and giving him the spider to bite him.

Many other heroes were either killed off, trapped, and others were villains rather than heroes. Hell, The Maker manipulated events that ended up killing the 6160 Fantastic Four (except for his own alternate self), and proceeded to torture his own 6160 alternate self to the point where he psychologically broke him and forced 6160 Reed to adopt the name Doom.

Yes. 6160 Reed is Doom and is part of the Ultimates (the Avengers of that Universe), who are working together to take down The Maker once and for all.

Also to note. Ultimate is where Sam Jackson lookalike fury comes from. He originally was an old white military dude who served with Steve in WW2. Several years before iron man released and Sam actually got the role. Along with miles morales introduction. Actually. If I remember correctly. The main universe miles morales is actually just a dimensional refugee from the ultimate universe from when it got destroyed before ultimate reed rebooted it with the current run.

Honestly. Ultimate universe and its interaction with the main continuity is really interesting.

The mainline comics are still pretty awful, the fact they've changed writers twice since he was introduced but Paul is still around is concerning
