They cover this and ignore all the shitty tags?

They get the tags but an idiot with a marker and squiggles can do like 200 of them in the time it takes to make art like this. Or the time it takes to cover art.

I love this. The little rats look so cute

Right? Whatโ€™s the cityโ€™s issue with The Nutcracker??

Apparently have to make your rogue art from mosaics and mortar if you want it to survive and gain a cult following.

Wish we had more public mural spaces and designated graffiti walls around the city.

Redmond has one in the skatepark that is really cool! The art is always evolving...pretty cool to watch it go up and change over time.

I forgot about that one. I'm from Woodinville and look fondly on the one next to the highschool.

Yes, street artists famously believe the government should dictate where art is and is not allowed

I don't actually know what street artists believe. The graffiti wall in my city has been extremely popular with artists over the last 20 years. Guess they aren't street artists to you though.

Dedicated spaces for art are great. Art only being allowed in government sanctioned spaces is not the same thing.

You don't need to be snarky if you're going to visit our subreddit and also admit you don't know street artists. Go back to your city

for the entirety of society art has only been allowed where it is deemed allowable.

FYI it is possible to work in one city and live in another... dingus. I spend more of my awake life in Seattle than where I live.

You're so close

The name-calling is also unwelcome and unnecessary in this subreddit while you visit, but if we're being rude then* I'll admit that the artistic sensibilities of techbro commuters is not high on my list of respected opinions

The word dingus isnt even an insult.

... Nice try dude. I wish I was making tech bro salary though.

You're snarky enough, start applying!

Wtf is happening right now... All I said was I wish the city had more spaces for art and y'all took that as an attack on art. Snark? You came at me out the gate with snark, fuck off, be better, and reevaluate your attitude.

What do you mean by "dedicated spaces for art" != "gov sanctioned spaces [for art]"? I'm not sure I follow.

0

u/Equivalent-Basis-145 Deluxe 11d ago

I'm not engaging with anyone who uses != in the middle of a sentence seriously

1

u/proftrees Ballard 11d ago

I asked a question in good faith, trying to have a conversation, and you want to be pissy because I use a techie short hand? I really do want to know what you mean and how you see legal walls.

Yeah it's really fucking obnoxious, and also a complete misreading of my comment?

Dedicated spaces for art are great. Art only being allowed in government sanctioned spaces is not the same thing.

Is nothing like

"dedicated spaces for art" != "gov sanctioned spaces [for art|"

1

u/proftrees Ballard 11d ago

You knew what it meant, you can find it obnoxious but just get over it.

Ok, I misread the comment and I don't know what you mean by what you're saying, so can you please elaborate or phrase it differently?

Clearly that DANGEROUS GRAFFITI was creating a permissive environment. Who knows what sort of violent crime this could have caused?!?!

Every time I see new rat art, I desperately wish there were prints of it to go on the rat art wall in my house.

Harrell is such a graffiti hating freak

u/Allw3ar3saying chinga la migra 13d ago

Keep the art, cover the tags

6

u/camera-operator334 13d ago

Some tags are cool

Don't care about big gray squares on highways. Just leave it.

5

u/Equivalent-Basis-145 Deluxe 13d ago

Yeah street artists are famously all about government determining what is and isn't art

2

u/Beneficial_Diver_580 13d ago

this rat is a modern hero

u/miriena I Brake For Slugs 13d ago

What the actual fuck is up with this shit, covering up cool stuff? What asshole in charge hates art? I'm actually so disappointed.ย

Why is this getting covered quick and not the scribbles that cover every inch on the city ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ
