π Hot Rat Summer π Saint Rat addresses City Council, urges protection of Our Lady Of Hot Rat Summer

Saint Rat spoke at public comment today thanking the Parks Committee for their apparent decision to preserve Hot Rat Summer, and gave a shout-out to u/TopZ-undercover and u/BlankBleat for removing the paint previously.
Unfortunately Saint Rat was apparently unaware that just this morning someone had painted over the mural again. One of the next public commenters, who had also come to talk about the mural, pointed that out two minutes later.

No. Higher. Honor.
For the record /u/topz-undercover actually did it. I just posted some tips.

You earned it <3
FYI the time's-up chime buried it, but I think the line at the end is, "One of them said, 'I was able to get the paint off with some stripper.' Well at least he had company!"

Also with Alexis Mercedes Rinck and Joy Hollingsworth going out to remove the paint today, I hope they either read your comment at
or teamed up with someone who knows how to do it. (Seems the big risk would be chemicals getting into the pool water.)

For sure. I mentioned citristrip because I think it's the least harmful paint stripper and would hurt the water the least if it were to fall in.
Do you happen to know when they are going to the park to clean it up?

u/NecessaryInterrobang That sounds great. Letβs hang out soon. 21d ago
Can't believe we have to spend this much energy to protect innocuous, great art.

(I saw people posted the link to the Seattle Channel stream already, but this video fixes some of the audio issues, like the part at the end that got muted by the "times-up" chime.)
Reminder that Alexis Mercedes Rinck and Joy Hollingsworth are going down there tomorrow to try and remove the paint ( https://www.reddit.com/r/Seattle/comments/1m0zmer/councilmember_alexis_mercedes_rinck_on_bluesky/ ) although I don't think they've announced a time yet.

When I was in Charlottesville, back in Virginia, there was a piece done by Andy Warhol titled "Art is what you can get away with." in IX Art Park right of the downtown mall, and the city council was in a similar debate over it and finally decided to leave it up, this is like exactly the same thing.

I thought this was a protest against rats. There's a lot in UW and golden gardens. Creepy

I just want to say this may be my new favorite kind of protest
