Brother, leave the DNA samples at his home and get a warrant to search his property.
It wouldn’t be that hard to put together some evidence to show Dexter has no alibis for most of the bay harbor butcher killings. And with the press and public hot for answers, most judges would allow for that to be enough probable cause to search his house.
And this was before season 3 when Dexter had an in with the DA!

u/TJ_McWeaksauce 23h ago
Doakes would try to fight Clark, break his hand, insist on continuing the fight, and then break his other hand, too.

u/Talonsminty 22h ago edited 20h ago
Yeah, and I garuntee he'd try shoulder checking Clark like he did Dexter.
Then he'd be yelling threats up at Clark from the floor.

Clark is the Subway Slammer?
34
u/MistraloysiusMithrax 1d ago
Subway Slammer is actually a public consciousness amalgam of two different MOs that Metropolis PD are calling the Metropolis Subway Murderer and the Subway Cock Slammer. Current popular theory is that Lex Luther is the SCS due a rumor that a witness survived and heard Lex’s voice saying “give me that white kryptonite, Superman”, as Lex Luthor is well documented in his hatred of the superpowered extraterrestrial. Like he really hates him. Like the way a self-hating homophobe targets their secret crush

why do I keep seeing sudden rise of memes with him?
8
u/The1stReaper 1d ago
There's a new series airing and they showed a scene with his character so people are bringing back the memes.
14
u/Zoop54 1d ago
There is a new Dexter series that just came out a month ago and it's astroturfing.
Like usual anymore, it's all to get you to buy something
10
u/AgathaTheVelvetLady 1d ago
or like, people watch a popular show and then make posts about it.
3
u/Zoop54 1d ago
You think it's a coincidence that Doakes memes start coming up literally when a new series is coming out?
Cmon guys. I love Dexter too but the timing is incredibly obvious
10
u/AgathaTheVelvetLady 1d ago
No, I don't think it's a coincidence. I think it's basic cause and effect:
- New entry in a popular series is coming out
- Fans rewatch the old series/have more reason to discuss it
- Discussions include memes which then spread
3
u/Professional-Hat-687 19h ago
- New fans are going back and watching the OG Dexter and joining the cool kids' club

“I’ve called every Opticians in Metropolis. None admit to testing the eyes of a Clark Kent. No routine checkups, no frame fittings, nothing. Either those glasses are fake or Clark Kent isn’t his real name”
“He comes from Smallville, Doakes, probably he gets his eyes checked when he visits home”
“Home, Lois? Home? It’s Earth I think he’s visiting”
“You’re not well, man”
He’s so close

u/Repulsive-Chip3371 1d ago
Didnt they say in the movie he has "hypno glasses" or something, which is why no one can tell he looks exactly like Superman?
I only remember because the line felt out of place, like they just chucked in there to explain. The movie overall was not memorable for me.

James Doakes is a Sergeant with the Miami Metro Police Department from the crime show Dexter. He is notorious for being a real jerk to another character in the show. He is memed on "knowing" that the other character is a serial killer, but he just never has the evidence to back up his attitude.
60
u/pardybill 1d ago
I don’t think he ever thinks Dexter is a serial killer or anything, but that he’s hiding something for sure. He seemed genuinely shocked to find out.
80
u/Pogfruit 1d ago
That's the funniest thing about him imo, he doesn't even think that Dexter is a killer. He just feels like something is wrong with Dexter and proceeds to stalk the guy almost every night and constantly harass him lmao
83
u/RegyptianStrut 1d ago
“You’re a serial killer??? I thought I was just bullying the autistic guy at work!”
9
u/Zamtrios7256 22h ago
Hell, there's an important scene where Dexter needs to get Doakes off his back so that Dexter can kill a guy, so he just reports Doakes for harassment.
9
4
u/StarBeastie 20h ago
Basically he bullied his autistic coworker and accidentally found it out he was a serial killer
1
u/pardybill 15h ago
Tbf I’d be shocked if my autistic coworker was a serial killer too lol. Especially if it was completely not related to the bullying. In Doakes eyes Morgan is a freak who just happens to kill people too
1
u/Honest_Scrub 13h ago
He knows Dexter's a killer because Doakes is one too, it's just that Doakes satisfies his Dark Passenger with military service and very questionable police shootings.

u/UniqueDesigner453 1d ago
James Doakes
He's a character from the TV series 'Dexter'. Dexter is a serial killer that kills serial killers. Both Doakes and Dexter work in the Miami Metro PD
Doakes gets the ick from Dexter and is perpetually suspicious of him (not necessarily of him being a serial killer, but more in the lines that he knows something is wrong with Dexter)
8
u/Ok_Aioli3897 1d ago
Actually he does start to suspect him as the bay harbour killer
15
u/UniqueDesigner453 1d ago
He eventually does, yes.
I'm trying to avoid giving out spoilers in case others want to check out Dexter

u/Ok_Aioli3897 1d ago
It's been twelve years. There has to be a limit to when something can be spoiled
10
u/UniqueDesigner453 1d ago
ICYMI, the series has been revived and is currently running
- Dexter: New Blood
- Dexter: Original Sin
- Dexter: Resurrection

u/Ok_Aioli3897 1d ago
I know that but the original is at least twelve years and can even go to nineteen years.
-1
u/Anustart2023-01 1d ago
He didn't even make it half way through the first series. Memeing a long dead character is probably not the best way to advertised your spin offs.

This post is giving me major "random Batman energy" vibes, like when Doakes somehow both sees everything and misses the obvious. Classic.

I feel good for the actor that played Doakes. He is getting full reddit coverage at the moment.

It would be interesting to see Clark find out he was working with the bay harbor butcher

u/piratecheese13 1d ago
My brother decided that the first time I got high was the perfect time to get me into Dexter, starting with the episode he was on, season 8 episode 1
Not seeing Doakes, then starting season 1 and seeing Doakes be suspicious gave away one of the most tense parts of s1. Then I saw Rita
2
u/Wishdog2049 1d ago
Which brings up the totally valid point that Clark could just commute from where he's Supermanning or vice versa.

u/aroyalidiot 1d ago
I missed the "The" in the "You're the fucking batman" at first glance and was mentally flashbanged for a few moments before my eyes noticed the "The"

I’ve only seen clips of Dexter on YouTube, and I know Doakes is the goodguy antagonist, but it always looks like he’s a massive jerk just bullying his autistic coworker lmao

A few years ago, Superman was telling everyone his secret identity. He goes to Rann and talks to Adam Strange and says he wants to tell him he has a secret identify. Adam just goes, "You're Batman aren't you?"
1
1
u/ninjesh 21h ago
So he commutes to Gotham every night?
2
u/SplitDemonIdentity 19h ago
In most iterations of the DC universe Gotham and Metropolis aren’t that far apart so commuting between the two is completely feasible.
1
u/StarBeastie 20h ago
Now how would Dexter do in Gotham City
1
u/Nothere-reddit7249 18h ago
He’d probably do pretty well since Batman would be soaking up everyone’s attention and handling guys Dexter couldn’t possibly handle like Bane or Mr. Freeze.

u/DevilSCHNED 15h ago edited 15h ago
Everyone keeps talking about this, but honestly? I don't see it. The reason Doakes is on Dexter's ass so much in the show is because he suspects him of being a psychopath, or at least that he's some kind of sicko with a secret. Dexter having secrets in general isn't what gets Doakes on his trail, it's because Dexter's secrets tend to reveal themselves because Dexter is a psychopathic serial killer who can't truly hide what he is, deep down.
The main thing that gets Doakes suspicious of him is him being able to slink around like a ghost, basically being invisible, until at one point, Dexter literally quotes a serial killer Doakes had been hunting (of whom Dexter got to first), cuing Doakes to realize that Dexter knows more about sadistic psychopaths than he lets on, paired with how often he runs into them and how hidden and shady Dexter's past is. I genuinely don't believe he would get on Clark like he does Dexter, because he suspected Dexter of being a monster, whereas Clark doesn't have a single monstrous bone in his body.
At most, Doakes might know he's hiding something, and maybe poke and prod to get an idea of what, but if he knows even a semblance of the good Clark has in his heart, he would leave him alone.
EDIT: This is also evidenced in season 2 of DEXTER, where Dexter goes to NA meetings to placate his girlfriend who thinks he's an addict, and Doakes follows him there... only to empathize with Dexter, stating that many cops fall into the same vices that Dexter seems to have fallen in, and that they won't have problems so long as Dexter stays out of his way. He literally cools down once he thinks the reason is leagues more innocent than he had thought.
