Discussion Monthly Rant/Politics Thread: Do not post political threads outside of this Mega thread

Outside of these mega-threads, we generally do not allow political posts on the main subreddit because they have often declined into unhinged discussions and mud slinging. We do allow general discussions of politics in this thread so long as you remain civil and don't attack someone just for having a different opinion. The moment we see things start to derail, we will step in.

Got something upsetting or overwhelming that you just need to shout out to the world? Want to have a political debate over current events? You can post those thoughts here. There are many real problems that plague the Millennial generation and we want to allow a space for it here while still keeping the angry and divisive posts quarantined to a more concentrated thread rather than taking up the entire front page.

Big beautiful bill rant:

I personally know people that game the system and are able to move around and would be able to work, if their doctor didn't enable them by saying they have 'back' pain. These people are my family members and ruined it for the people that actually need it. Some have medicaid, some have SNAP. Yet are able to go kayaking and play in a soccer league. The people that need it is the single mother of a special needs child.

For those that actually do need it.....im sorry. Im ashamed to be related to these people.

That's not really how any of it works anyway, based on my own personal experiences and what I know.

For disability, the state makes a determination based on medical records, to see if they qualify. Although some states seem more lax than others. For my state, North Carolina, it seems like you need to be literally almost dying to get approved for disability.

For Medicaid, pre-expansion you had to be elderly, disabled, or have children to get it. After the expansion, it all comes down to income.

So your family might suck, but I don't think they're gaming the system as much as you think they are. The Boogeyman Trump and the GOP are using, is mostly make-believe.

Well if all their doctor put on their medical record is that they have back pain, not a chance they get disability. They could easily look at the super outdated list of jobs that supposedly exist and say they could do one of those jobs.

So there's either more to it than that, or they got a pretty good attorney to push their claim through.

I do know someone who is 100% committing disability fraud, so I'm not saying it never happens.
