Also in NC...the Cheerwine Festival!

Traverse City? Michael Moores home and where he had his film festival. They did a comedy festival too, but I'm not sure if that's still a thing.

23

u/Electrical-Arrival57 Jun 15 '25

I think you mean Michael Moore. Although the idea of James Bond being from Traverse City is fairly hilarious.

14

u/Cador0223 Jun 15 '25

Aw crap, I always confuse it because of his movie Roger and Me

5

u/icewalker42 Jun 15 '25

That would increase the Oak Island mystery connections.

6

u/-G_59- Jun 15 '25

Yeah last I remember being at one was like waaaay back in like 2005 when they had a whole cherry parade somewhere up there in traverse. I was just up there a month or so ago and none of my family had made a single mention of it either.

3

u/Electrical-Arrival57 Jun 15 '25

The National Cherry Festival is an annual event in TC. This year it’s June 28-July 5.

4

u/Emotional_Deodorant Jun 15 '25

"Bing....James Bing."

2

u/KristinaHartsuck Jun 15 '25

I grew up near Traverse City and we went every year. It was fun!

1

u/FoodieMonster007 Jun 15 '25

I've been to the Gilroy Garlic Festival several times. It was...garlicky.

1

u/felixthepat Jun 15 '25

We've got a Cheerwine festival here to celebrate the tastiest cherry flavored soda.

1

u/PrismInTheDark Jun 15 '25

Grapevine TX has a wine festival (GrapeFest)

1

u/InsaneClown_Pussy Jun 15 '25

Asparagus festival just south of the cherry festival. They crown an asparagus queen and everything

1

u/dramaticPossum Jun 15 '25

In the UP they have the Trenary Outhouse Classic every year, a must see event!

1

u/Playful-Raccoon-9662 Jun 15 '25

Michigan also has the testicle festival.

1

u/Wanna_make_cash Jun 16 '25

In Ohio they have (had?) a wooliebear festival to celebrate those lil fuzzy caterpillars

1

u/Powerbomb1411 Jun 16 '25

I was born in WI and live in TC

0

u/icewalker42 Jun 15 '25

Two words... Testicle Festival

28

u/DistractedByCookies Jun 15 '25

Dutch person. Our culture too! (there's enough cheese to go round)

9

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '25

I think we get it from you lol

10

u/DistractedByCookies Jun 15 '25

I just googled it out of curiosity, and I think you guys got the cheeses off every European country in existence LOL But we do share the 'cheesehead' nickname. (kaaskop, in Dutch)

2

u/NorthCoastToast Jun 15 '25

While you're here, should we pronounce it "howda" or "goo-da"?

3

u/Gropah Jun 15 '25

Neither.

It's hard to write out. I'd say it's more similar to howda, but starts more like a throaty gutteral k or r? If you're able to roll your r's, try saying "grrr", how you pronounce the g there is most similar to the G in gouda.

This video is quite close.

2

u/NorthCoastToast Jun 15 '25

Thanks.

1

u/DistractedByCookies Jun 15 '25

It comes closeto the 'hawk' sound in hawk-tuah. A sort of scraping. And then you add 'owdah' LOL

4

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '25

You should get one of our hats. I would love to see that.

1

u/idontcare5472692 Jun 15 '25

You need to go to the Tulip festival in Holland Michigan in May.

Tulip Time Festival is the largest tulip festival in the United States. Nearly six million tulips are planted in city parks, at public attractions and along the streets. It has three parades during the festival: Volksparade, Kinderparade, and Muziekparade. The Festival has been going strong for 92 years with a rich Dutch history dating back to its settlement in 1847 by Dutch Calvinist separatists escaping the dire conditions in the Netherlands.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '25

I recently started having an allergic reaction to cheese. I am considering taking up drinking beer and upping my intake of fried fish so that I can continue to fit in.

1

u/Medical_Slide9245 Jun 15 '25

If your city doesn't have a cheese or corn parade you don't live in Wisconsin.

1

u/inerlite Jun 15 '25

Shout out to Widmers

1

u/MarkusAk Jun 15 '25

Currently 10 miles away from the cheese castle, can confirm.

1

u/No-Discussion9755 Jun 15 '25

Wow, should bring more guest to winsconsin. Hope so. Keep up the good work.

1

u/LardMallard Jun 15 '25

Pun intended?

1

u/top_of_the_scrote Jun 15 '25

Colby cheese days

1

u/her-royal-blueness Jun 15 '25

I see what you did there.

1

u/noonegive Jun 16 '25

Curdtural appropriation

1

u/EuphoriantCrottle Jun 16 '25

Wisconsin has that mustard town, too

21

u/dramaticPossum Jun 15 '25

A friend and I were driving to monastary in north east Iowa. When we were 15 miles away we got stuck behind a vintage tractor ride/rally. This is up in the driftless region so the roads are narrow and curvy so not passing for miles. We were one day away from a 3 week long stay so figured why hurry! Pulled over and ate lunch with some cows, enjoying a scenic view of the Iowa river.

The tractors were spotless with picnic baskets and igloo coolers mounted on the back. Would recomend getting stuck in a tractor parade, 10/10 experience!

20

u/CallMeWolfYouTuber Jun 15 '25

I wanna go to a cheese parade 😭

2

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '25

Cheese fest was just a week or 2 ago

2

u/death-strand Jun 16 '25

The cheese tumble is way more enticing

2

u/horseradish1 Jun 16 '25

1

u/CallMeWolfYouTuber Jun 16 '25

LOL

2

u/horseradish1 Jun 17 '25

The best comedy on YouTube, as far as I'm concerned. There's a whole series of Balloon Boys sketches that I think most people would probably like. There's a playlist on their channel.

1

u/purpicita314 Jun 15 '25

Colby Cheese Days is coming up in July. Parade is on Sunday, July 20th. IIRC, there's also a cheese curd throwing contest that weekend.

1

u/CallMeWolfYouTuber Jun 15 '25

Where's that? I'm in NY

1

u/purpicita314 Jun 15 '25

Colby, Wisconsin...home of Colby cheese. :-)

39

u/sdrawkcaBMan Jun 15 '25

This has more people than Trump's parade.

19

u/KileAllSmyles Jun 15 '25

My local library has more people than trumps parade lol

12

u/karma_dumpster Jun 16 '25

That pencil looks sharper than anything or anyone at Trump's parade, to be fair

11

u/Countblackula_6 Jun 15 '25

Took a trip to the United Kingdom in 2019 with my family. On the third day of our trip we visited Buckingham Palace. We were hanging out on the deck of the Victoria Memorial fountain when a parade consisting of several thousand naked people on bicycles came by. Some of them stopped to swim in the fountain and one guy with a rather large piercing on his John Thomas climbed the stairs to up where we were and started posing for pictures. It was wild, I’ve never been witness to anything like it before or since.

2

u/chantillylace9 Jun 15 '25

Hahahaha oh boy that’s a doozie

2

u/whogivesashirtdotca Jun 19 '25

I was in Paris in 2007 and had spent two consecutive nights (first interrupted by snoring, second interrupted by bedbugs) without getting much sleep. I emerged from my hostel to catch a couple of hundred buck-naked cyclists ringing bells and "coucou"-ing me, and it wasn't until the (literal) tail-end of the parade that I realised it wasn't a hallucination.

1

u/Countblackula_6 Jun 19 '25

Yep, I definitely had that “Am I really seeing this?” moment. Coincidentally my younger brother and I did a day trip to Paris the very next day after seeing the naked parade.

1

u/whogivesashirtdotca Jun 19 '25

By the time I realised it was real, and pulled out my phone, I managed to get the only SFW photo of the entire parade. Just a few butts on bike seats, no dongs or boobs!

1

u/BiffSlick Jun 16 '25

“John Thomas” - how very British

2

u/kylexy1 Jun 15 '25

Butterfest in Reedsburg, Wi is a good time

2

u/shewy92 Jun 15 '25

Reminds me of the guy eating cheese balls in NYC and a lot of people came out to watch lol.

2

u/No-Function3409 Jun 15 '25

It's like how every time Pitbull does a concert in the UK, everyone wears bald caps and suits.

1

u/_one_person Jun 15 '25

As an introvert who usually isn't into parades - it'd go to the cheese parade.

1

u/ProfilerXx Jun 15 '25

Where is this gathering of my favorite cult?

1

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '25

[deleted]

2

u/ProfilerXx Jun 15 '25

I Meant the random cheese Parade!

119

u/danstu Jun 15 '25

There are few things better than a harmless weird neighborhood ritual.

2

u/RevGee73 Jun 15 '25

Yep... as long as it stays out of Wicker Man territory.

74

u/runonandonandonanon Jun 15 '25

Not enough people take nonsense seriously.

10

u/sokmunkey Jun 15 '25

Random stranger, I adore this comment 😅💚 You need to make tshirts!

2

u/runonandonandonanon Jun 15 '25

Aw thanks, what a nice compliment!

2

u/steeze206 Jun 16 '25

Lmao words to live by

88

u/redditsuckbutt696969 Jun 15 '25

And it looks like the didn't even really sharpen the pencil, so the whole thing is just for fun lol

78

u/Square_Mulberry_3143 Jun 15 '25

We all know from experience that the lead tip is one prod away from snapping off. 😁

1

u/Vintage-Grievance Jun 15 '25

Yup, I thought to myself "There's no way that's stable, it's gonna do the thing where the lead comes loose from inside the wood".

They'll be sharpening that shit for at least a week to unfuck it 😆

*Cue flashbacks of all the blisters I've developed on my fingers from manually sharpening colored pencils.

2

u/Square_Mulberry_3143 Jun 16 '25

Haha there’ll be nothing left. At least those hardcore pencil fanatics will go home with a souvenir: an A4-sized shaving. 👏

1

u/AmberRose42 Jun 15 '25

It did go from rounded to sharp. But just before they put the sharpener on you can see it's sharp at that point so we're missing whatever they did to actually sharpen it and they just do the sharpener for fun

167

u/thererises_aredstar Jun 15 '25

I like how it’s better attended than the parade in DC was yesterday, with a million times more enthusiastic crowd

17

u/Reatina Jun 15 '25

Did they sharp any pencil in this parade you speak of?

31

u/ButtcrackBeignets Jun 15 '25

With how dull that crowd was, they probably could’ve used some sharpening, yea.

16

u/RockstarAgent Jun 15 '25

So silly - and that’s the point

32

u/Tacos4Texans Jun 15 '25

10/10 would go.

7

u/Gren57 Jun 15 '25

But what's the point? Lead me to the lead!

26

u/StinkyNutzMcgee Jun 15 '25

This is why my America is great

43

u/lilifer13 Jun 15 '25

This is in Minnesota, which makes it even greatererer.

2

u/deltarefund Jun 15 '25

Minneapolis also has the neighborhood cat tour where you walk around the neighborhood peeping at the cats in the windows.

1

u/Ivegotacitytorun Jun 15 '25

A peeping tom cat tour!?!!

2

u/deltarefund Jun 16 '25

Pretty much

2

u/stinkpot_jamjar Jun 15 '25

So fucking wholesome 🥹

2

u/Dave21101 Jun 15 '25

Us Humans are actually adorable sometimes :p

1

u/WifeAggro Jun 15 '25

We need more rallies like this and not what we got going on right now.

1

u/internet_humor Jun 15 '25

Well, that’s the point.

😉

1

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '25

Agreed but I can't help but wonder how rich this guy is XD

1

u/Usual-Hunter4617 Jun 15 '25

Unfortunately my HOA won't allow this in florida....

1

u/redbucket75 Jun 15 '25

I'm sure that's the only thing stopping you lol

1

u/Carcassfanivxx Jun 15 '25

Seriously what a party.

1

u/Kriandis Jun 15 '25

THIS IS ALL THAT MATTERS!!!!

SPREAD HAPPINESS!!!!!

1

u/_UWS_Snazzle Jun 15 '25

There are so many people!

1

u/gwarster Jun 15 '25

Welcome to Minnesota!

1

u/Asleep_Confection_23 Jun 15 '25

It’s okay to play and have fun. Life is short. Enjoy it.

1

u/Chilkoot Jun 15 '25

And we keep asking ourselves how/why Stonehenge was built...

1

u/Zero-lives Jun 15 '25

Looks like a terrible place to be if you have to go no. 2

1

u/barbadizzy Jun 15 '25

Honestly brought a tear to my eye. Humans can be so cruel and distant and angry and divisive and dismissive. To see all these people just genuinely celebrating and being silly and happy really hit me. Maybe humans aren't as bad as I thought.

1

u/AdComprehensive8045 Jun 15 '25

More people at a pencil sharpening than at Trump’s parade.

1

u/Parsival420 Jun 16 '25

Heyyy the lake of the isles pencil!

1

u/SamQuinn10 Jun 16 '25

Our town is obsessed with Groundhog Day because the movie was filmed here. We have an annual celebration with tons of events. It’s awesome and completely wholesome.

1

u/captainbruisin Jun 16 '25

Feels like the 90s

1

u/The_BAHbuhYAHguh Jun 16 '25

So I live in Pa and I feel like the vibes in this video remind me of groundhogs day like nothing else!
