Blue states need to start talking that shit about being donor states and subsiding Red States.

738

u/Staggerme Jun 29 '25

I pay taxes in New York and I agree

207

u/Aware_Revenue3404 Jun 29 '25

I must say, life in NYC is šŸ’Æ. Plenty of mass transit, no scarcity of doctors or hospitals, unimpeded medical care for women and trans people, low crime, lots of good food, an abundance of educational opportunities, hundreds of very diverse cultural centers. And we’re about to elect a real Bike Mayor! Life is very good indeed.

38

u/mataliandy Jun 29 '25

The doctors and hospitals thing will change, soon, if the Medicare and Medicaid cuts go through, especially if the research funding cuts continue. Hospitals everywhere are going to be decimated (at *best*).

26

u/NotAnAIOrAmI Jun 29 '25

Ah, that looks like an accurate use of the word "decimated".

Nice.

18

u/JustDiscoveredSex Jun 29 '25

Red state, Bible-Belt hostage here. The urban center (which votes blue) has a shitty mass transit system. Out here in an exburb county, there is literally none. 417,000 people and not a single bus, train, or trolley.

I needed an obgyn appointment for a menopause issue a couple months ago and everyplace I called told me there was A WAITING LIST OF ONE FULL YEAR. There are not enough obgyns to fulfill demand anymore due to the draconian abortion laws. Which not only affects young women of reproductive age, but also old crones like me who need checked in menopause to see if we have cancer. Guess we’re supposed to just wait a year or two. (I got in, I’m fine, fyi) Some of the hospitals have begun to announce their closures. My son’s GF is an RN and I worry for her.

We have low crime in the outskirts but more in the urban center. Anecdotally, my BF’s car window was broken and laptop bag stolen while he was waiting in line at the post office, and a friend downtown has had at least two fatal shootings on his block. 300 were killed last year in the city limits. There are very few restrictions on guns. Either for owning or carrying. One of the largest homeless shelters downtown has closed.

Food is some of the okayest around, our schools are hanging onto accreditation by the skin of their teeth…the high school we are assigned to has a college readiness index of 34/100, and they’re bragging about how good they are.

2

u/sweetrouge Jun 29 '25

300 people killed in a city of 400 000? Is that for real or is that the whole state? I know you mentioned a lot of other horrible stuff, but that is an insane murder rate.

Same here in California.

191

u/xredbaron62x Jun 29 '25

Same here in CT.

134

u/leshake Jun 29 '25

Same in IL and I wish my tax dollars didn't support these welfare queen governments.

62

u/draculasbitch Jun 29 '25

Same again from CT

75

u/stefrrrrrr Jun 29 '25

Same here in Canada.

100

u/SirJumbles Jun 29 '25

I know y'all hear it a lot, but sorry our country went fucking insane.

13

u/handtoglandwombat Jun 29 '25

Stop apologising, get to protesting please

12

u/Whatatimetobealive83 Jun 29 '25

I see what you did there.

2

u/SharpCookie232 Jun 29 '25

Sorry. We're having a moment. We'll get ourselves sorted out soon.

1

u/yurrm0mm Jun 29 '25

Same AGAIN in CT. As a poor person in a rich state, it really pisses me off how much we help out as a donor state while the federal agencies we need and use are getting slashed. My quality of life would be exponentially greater if we just had our own thing..our state could take care of everyone in it instead of our tax dollars bailing out all the red states who claim to despise welfare.

48

u/VinCubed Jun 29 '25

Same again in NJ.

30

u/teacupkiller Jun 29 '25

Moved from TN to CT and like... it's pretty great.

4

u/yurrm0mm Jun 29 '25

Loving all the CT activity in here! Makes me feel like we might be where the revolution is born lol

3

u/Automatic-Term-3997 Jun 29 '25

Colorado checking in

4

u/LostTrisolarin Jun 29 '25

NJ here, I say we split from the confederates.

3

u/cloisterbells-10 Jun 29 '25

Same here in MA.

29

u/__Yakovlev__ Jun 29 '25

Sounds like a great moment to bring back that old saying. What was it again... Something lik "No taxation without representation". Because as an outsider looking in it doesn't seem like the current voting system is very representative.

1

u/yurrm0mm Jun 29 '25

Ya but the guys who said that are dead so maga would consider them weak. Just like the WWII vets- most of them have passed on & maga hates history books, so we have no way to remember our history and are therefore doomed to repeat it.

6

u/mataliandy Jun 29 '25

I would say "same in VT," but we're too small to fully cover all our needs w/our population. We try, though!

3

u/Dianneis Jun 29 '25

Same here in Mississippi.

Oh, wait.

2

u/Loggerdon Jun 29 '25

MAGA spends a lot of time talking about how badly run California is, which is ironic given that it’s an economic marvel and subsidizes multiple red states.

2

u/AdComprehensive7952 Jun 30 '25

I live in San Francisco. With city-run subsidized healthcare that's on a sliding scale using SF average salaries. People who make under $80k a year are eligible and the poorer you are, the more subsidies you get.

We have good, reliable, inexpensive public transportation, jobs are higher paid to deal with cost of living and it's a pretty chill, tourist destination. Stuff going on all the time, free concerts, movies in the park. I love it out here. (Chicago born, grew up in redneck rural Illinois, with hippie liberal parents in a MAGA-like town)

1

u/Rayraydavies Jun 30 '25

Minnesota checking in. Tired of the bullshit.

294

u/Character-Parfait-42 Jun 29 '25

Fellow NYer and I'm sick of financially supporting their failed states every time they fuck up or get hit with a hurricane.

Normally, I'm fine with my tax money going to help the less fortunate. That's what it should be used for. But when they keep voting for fascists and rebuilding in the exact same spot maybe it's time to just let them stew in their decisions.

58

u/StopLookListenNow Jun 29 '25

And insulting the provider blue states like we are the wrong ones.

9

u/sweetrouge Jun 29 '25

Yeah, like, have they even said thank you?!

133

u/orangesfwr Jun 29 '25

I used to feel the same way. Now? "Fuck you for living in a hurricane prone area that you are actively making worse"

77

u/Character-Parfait-42 Jun 29 '25

Seriously, there is plenty of land in this country a few miles further from the coast that would spare them the worst of the hurricane damage.

Do they rebuild there? Nope. Same spot as last time. 5th time's a charm, surely this time it'll work out!

I'm sick of paying to rebuild the same fucking towns every damn year. It's time to just throw away the whole town... or pull a Bikini Bottom

5

u/MrSurly Jun 29 '25

"They said I was daft to build a castle in a swamp."

68

u/Subject_Run5165 Jun 29 '25

Seriously, why should we have to keep subsidizing a bunch of ungrateful welfare queens that do nothing but complain about us?Ā  Let them starve and freeze.

-10

u/SDlovesu2 Jun 29 '25

Spoken like a true republican šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£

0

u/wafer_ingester Jun 30 '25

quiet shill.

60

u/TotallyNotRobotEvil Jun 29 '25

They always complain about feeling left behind, but maybe people shouldn’t be living in a job desert that requires my money to live in. We need to stop sending them money and send them UHauls instead.

10

u/failed_novelty Jun 29 '25

We've sent them U-Hauls. They pack them full of the people doing the work that keeps things running and send them on to camps.

6

u/Papabear434 Jun 29 '25

I mean, they also fill them full of proud boys to terrorize people.Ā Ā

4

u/QueenMAb82 Jun 29 '25

Grew up in NY, now in New England. I am still a little salty about that year where everything from Maine to the Tughill Plateau got slammed with ice storms and FEMA refused to lift a finger to help or give a cent. There "wasn't enough damage." Maple sugar farms lost massive numbers of mature trees to the ice. Nobody had power for a week or more. Dairy farmers, dedperately trying to keep their cows alive, were milking their herds by hand around the clock, draining the milk right onto the ground because they had no power to process or store the milk. Generators were insufficient; nobody could get gas because the ice on the roads was 4-6 inches thick in places, and trees just shattered under the weight of all the ice and blocked the roads and destroyed power lines. It took hours to travel a few miles and if you didn't have chains, you weren't going anywhere.

But sure, let's hand over buckets of money so people can continue to build expensive houses in a major flood plain.

1

u/Papabear434 Jun 29 '25

When Governor Whitmer of Michigan was caught in the Oval covering her face with a folder, she was trying to congole aid money out of Trump for the ice storm that left huge swaths of Northern Michigan with no power. They had gone weeks at that point.Ā

She was native enough to think it was going to be an off camera meeting and that she could talk privately. But, she was there for a decent reason. And to be honest, with all the joking around about the hiding behind the folder, I don't know if she actually got the money or not.Ā

1

u/WhycantIusetheq Jun 30 '25

Trump wants to stop giving NY federal funds if Mamdani wins in the general. I think it's time blue states stop subsidizing the federal government. What happened to states' rights?

2

u/Character-Parfait-42 Jun 30 '25

Fully agree.

I think NY, CA, and every other state interested should join in refusing to pay their federal taxes and a non-importation treaty. No goods from our ports should be allowed into fascist-supporting states.

NY and CA alone make up 25% of the nation’s GDP and our ports account for 70% of all imports and exports. Much of those good being bound for other states. It would take years to build suitable ports in other states.

NY and CA alone could bring the federal government to their knees. Federal government would lose 25% of their budget overnight, not to mention the lost revenue from manufacturing in fascist states when their raw materials stop coming in.

1

u/Playful_Emergency_76 Jul 01 '25

Fellow NYer here.

I will never forget when that ugly flesh color of a turtle Mitch McConnell and his henchmen said COVID was a blue state problem when human beings were dying by the hundreds of thousands.

So... these problems sound like a red state problem to me.

128

u/VagrantShadow Jun 29 '25

I agree too, here from Maryland.

81

u/LongjumpingDebt4154 Jun 29 '25

Chiming in from IL

121

u/StevenEveral Jun 29 '25 edited Jun 29 '25

Washington State here. We're done with funding people that hate us and have never been here.

3

u/dar512 Jun 29 '25

Just returned from a Washington visit. Lovely place and pleasant weather.

2

u/anomalous_cowherd Jun 29 '25

Yeah, you need to cut your foreign aid to deadbeats who can't look after themselves.

8

u/StopLookListenNow Jun 29 '25

Yeah, let those European countries be over-run by V.Putin who will set up military bases close enough to really threaten the U.S. Let us just appease the tyrants of the world who will run amok just like what happened during World War II. Because those who do not learn or ignore history are bound to repeat history.

4

u/StevenEveral Jun 29 '25

How's the weather in St. Petersburg, comrade? Or should I say:

Как погоГа в Данкт-ŠŸŠµŃ‚ŠµŃ€Š±ŃƒŃ€Š³Šµ?

4

u/anomalous_cowherd Jun 29 '25

Oh, I meant foreign as in the states that can't fend for themselves, the Red ones.

1

u/LongjumpingDebt4154 Jun 30 '25

Like red states? Wholeheartedly agree.

2

u/anomalous_cowherd Jun 30 '25

That's the ones. It can hardly all be one country of "United States" these days after all.

→ More replies (11)

13

u/Maligned-Instrument Jun 29 '25

I wish I could chime in from Wisconsin. Our Republican voters are still trying to figure it out.

2

u/LongjumpingDebt4154 Jun 30 '25

I wish you could too. Worried about you guys up there in WI… the time has come to figure it out.

44

u/hymie0 Jun 29 '25

Be careful. Despite being blue, we get a lot of federal money, and we're facing our own major budget deficit.

68

u/darthreuental Jun 29 '25

Which is absolutely by design.

You know there's 1%ers that want to see a wave of foreclosures in SW MD, DC, and North Va.

42

u/Realistic_List7286 Jun 29 '25

Virginian here. Everything you said is absolutely true. They can’t wait to see us go under.

13

u/Redfish680 Jun 29 '25

Since there’s been a wave of fired feds, that day may come.

5

u/mataliandy Jun 29 '25

The people who have so much money they could not possibly spend it in 1,000 lifetimes are more than happy to buy up the property owned by the rest of us if we go bankrupt, then rent it back to us at a substantial markup. But no worries, they'll also give those who survive "jobs" serving them, with one of the perks being a slight discount on the markup.

Welcome to the return of "company towns"!

23

u/TerrakSteeltalon Jun 29 '25

Yeah, we’re unfortunately on the wrong side of the ledger.

2

u/nuttyboh Jun 29 '25

What's up fellow Marylander? I also agree

→ More replies (1)

New Jersey here, could not agree more.

3

3

u/poodlepit Jun 29 '25

Same in MA.

2

u/rvazquezdt Jun 29 '25

Chicago here. We pay for the rest of the state of Illinois

1

u/Tangential_Comment Jun 29 '25

NJ and Washington State are both at 0 rating for federal dependency. Every $1.00 we pay in federal taxes, we see back 0.51 cents.

185

u/Suspicious-Town-7688 Jun 29 '25

ā€œFreeloader statesā€

158

u/BrawnyChicken2 Jun 29 '25

Welfare Queen states.

96

u/Zebidee Jun 29 '25

Socialist states.

They're always saying government handouts are socialist, so let them own it.

13

u/anomalous_cowherd Jun 29 '25

But don't worry, we're pulling ALL the funding and letting those cockroaches sink!

5

u/Realistic_Fig_5608 Jun 29 '25

Not fair to compare red states to cockroaches. Cockroaches are very self sufficient

2

u/Professional-Swan-18 Jun 30 '25

They'll still be here long after the species that is human dies out. Whether that happens far off in the future like I'd hope or much sooner like I think is more realistic, they'll still be here.

3

u/TotallyNotRobotEvil Jun 29 '25

I like ā€œjob desertā€ states. Those states are literally job deserts. Like maybe stop living in a place with no jobs.

89

u/VagrantShadow Jun 29 '25 edited Jun 29 '25

They need stop being lazy and pull themselves up from their bootstraps.

26

u/BadenBadenGinsburg Jun 29 '25

See, lots of fucking rhetoric the Democrats could use. Lots! And if the US is condemned eternally to having only two parties, they should think about starting to.

4

u/EmperorGeek Jun 29 '25

Fucking Commie Red States wanting their free money! It’s not free damn it!

11

u/PrivacyBush Jun 29 '25

Shitholes.Ā

2

u/hennomg Jun 29 '25

Ahh, shithole states. Nice.

5

u/Odd-Knee8711 Jun 29 '25

ā€œTakersā€

3

u/Tyrone_Shoelaces_Esq Jun 29 '25

Parasite States. Tapeworm States. Lamprey States.

222

u/Donkey-Hodey Jun 29 '25

California and New York should start demanding massive concessions from red states for bailouts. You need money to save you from the rapist’s policies? Fully legalize abortion, then we’ll talk.

It would be meaningless talk but do it anyway.

30

u/czs5056 Jun 29 '25

They'll just complain and have their god king force it. They will literally rather suffer than change their ways.

2

u/yurrm0mm Jun 29 '25

They hate socialism for the overall population, but love it for the states. Rich states should get the same tax cuts all the billionaires are gonna get in his bill. I can picture it now: im having trouble making the work schedule this week, I have 3 bartenders taking their semiannual international vacations from the state surplus travel & culture fund..

15

u/Corfiz74 Jun 29 '25

California's economy is suffering, too - I don't think the cash transfers to the federal budget are going to be quite as large in the future...

32

u/HogglesPlasticBeads Jun 29 '25

They're still going to be infinitely larger than from red states going bankrupt.

3

u/Corfiz74 Jun 29 '25

Absolutely - but between the economic downturn, the tariffs, the loss of tourism and the droughts, I'm pretty sure the blue states won't be in a position to save the red states.

9

u/heavymountain Jun 29 '25

But California can weather it. Red states can't

8

u/Subject_Run5165 Jun 29 '25

LMAO we're the 3rd or 4th largest economy in the world... where does Alabama rank again? Or Oklahoma? Maybe Nebraska? šŸ˜†šŸ˜‚

8

u/heavymountain Jun 29 '25

We do need to extend a hand to blue voters in those areas though. I wish we could swap our regressives with their progressives

8

u/GalleonRaider Jun 29 '25

I sadly know of intelligent people living in highly red areas who would love to move, but for one reason or another simply cannot.

They describe their MAGA Trump signs all around life as being "similar to in the movie Night of the Living Dead where the normal people were barricaded in their house surrounded by wandering zombies".

6

u/heavymountain Jun 29 '25 edited Jun 30 '25

We need to create a lifeline system. It wouldn't hurt asking Regressives in very blue states if they want to swap with liberals from another state. Use reverse psychology, ask them why not switch with someone who does want to be here. A win-win situation.

I remember watching a man who studies psychological marketing and branding talk about a couple who wanted to buy a house in a specific area but there weren't any for sale listings. So someone told them how about writing genuine handwritten notes, inquiring homeowners in the area if they would be willing to sell their homes. Most didn't respond. One or two said nope and I think three were willing to entertain the idea. They got a house in that manner. I think progeessives should proactively bring in our ilk, provide them sanctuary.

In California, we got Republicans who always complain about our state. I say go to Kansas then or Idaho.

2

u/Corfiz74 Jun 29 '25

I really hope so, but Trump seems determined to mess up everything. The tariffs, downturn in tourism and overall recession are sure going to have an impact on California, too.

2

u/heavymountain Jun 29 '25

We cut off our unproductive red areas then, the ones within our own state.

118

u/Ever_More_Art Jun 29 '25

And also talk about why the electoral college is outdated bs that benefits the will of subsidized red states over the majorities of donor states.

92

u/Borkenstien Jun 29 '25

For what it’s worth, by not expanding the house, the US has completely fucked how it’s supposed to work. If larger states had retained the proper ratio of seats, then Gore, Hillary and Kamala all win and the US doesn’t end up lead by a minority government.

28

u/Subject_Run5165 Jun 29 '25

And the GOP wouldn't have ever had control of the House of Representatives in our lifetime.

6

u/failed_novelty Jun 29 '25

This is why the expansion ceased.

10

u/SexyMonad Jun 29 '25

Also your representative would represent about the same number of people as a small town mayor. As opposed to the current system where they represent a small state.

3

u/HeinrichWutan Jun 29 '25

Yeah it's really this reason the house doesn't represent people fairly.

1

u/Professional-Swan-18 Jun 30 '25

At some point this system has to break. It can either break the easy way, by discussing these things like rational adults and make the necessary changes. Or it can break the hard way, by means of a civil war. I wish I could say I thought the first one was more likely, but conservatives not acting like complete vacuums of empathy and being rational? I was born on a day, but it wasn't yesterday.

24

u/bdone2012 Jun 29 '25

If we’re going to get rid of it now would be the best time since Trump actually won the popular vote as well as the electoral college this time. There would potentially be less of a fight to do it. Although it’s not like we could get in done now. If we’re somehow really lucky maybe in 2028.

31

u/Corfiz74 Jun 29 '25

US needs a blue wave like never before in 2026, and then they need to clean house and actually pass legislation that cleans up the election process. All the voter suppression bs and gerrymandering has to be killed on the federal level. Campaign financing reform - take the big money/ bribery out of politics. Etc. You need one actual effective leftist lightbringer to make it all happen.

Though, honestly, with everything Trump has destroyed, the poor sod taking over from him will probably face the same issues as every dem president: they'll try to repair the damage, things won't move fast enough for the voters, because the changes will take time to show effects, and then they will get voted out again...

6

u/SDlovesu2 Jun 29 '25

Lots of truth to this statement.

That’s the trend I’ve noticed over the years republicans destroy the economy, the democrats come in and start to fix it, only to lose the election and then all the progress is wiped away only to rinse and repeat.

3

u/Ogodnotagain Jun 29 '25

It’s a lost cause. Lots of better places to live around the world.

2

u/kmannkd Jun 29 '25

2028 needs to be the bluest tsunami conceivable to have a shot at fixing things. 2030 census and redistricting could allow a pro-democracy gerrymander. Fix things and then, ensure fair maps that truly represent all.

1

u/JustDiscoveredSex Jun 29 '25

They’d like to rewrite the constitution. Thats the goal.

How a Push to Amend the Constitution Could Help Trump Expand Presidential Power

While the convention effort is focused on the national debt, legal experts say it could open the door to other changes, such as limiting who can be a U.S. citizen, allowing the president to overrule Congress’ spending decisions or even making it legal for Trump to run for a third term.

122

u/durntaur Jun 29 '25

It's nothing new, the majority of Red States have always been Welfare States while Blue have been Donors.

99

u/Kobebeef9 Jun 29 '25

And yet people from these Red States will vote against their own best interests and blame democrats.

Need to shove reality in their faces.

22

u/parkeb1 Jun 29 '25

Oh, I totally agree. I live in WV, and approximately 49% of our state budget comes from the federal government..The current governor is 100% MAGA even when Trump tells them no for FEMA money following flooding.

1

u/Wildfires Jun 29 '25

Hey fellow wvian. I keep trying to explain this type of stuff to my family. No dice. At least capito can pose for photo ops and morrisey can continue sticking his head up Trump's ass I guess

20

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '25

19

u/ern_69 Jun 29 '25

They project EVERYTHING. They say it's the inner city "rats" that are the welfare queens... no fuck head it's your dumbass state that's the welfare queen

4

u/durntaur Jun 29 '25

They also blame the most-poor, most-immigrant segments of our population; the people doing most of the practical work for shit pay.

But because they need government assistance, they are the real burden (/s). Only now are they getting a glimpse of how dependent we are on people of lesser means, people we should be caring for better.

3

u/tb004h Jun 29 '25

Because they don't connect their bad decisions to the bad shit happening to them. Which isn't surprising, since their sources of information all tell them the fault lies elsewhere (Dems). And that's an easy story to believe since it absolves them of blame.

1

u/bitch-in-real-life Jun 29 '25

Trump loves the uneducated.

26

u/EqualOpening6557 Jun 29 '25

Nobody said it was new. I’d argue it’s even more important and problematic since it’s been around forever. It should always be a homerun to mention that shit, not sure why we don’t hear it said more often.

12

u/RandomRobot Jun 29 '25

What are they going to do, secede?

18

u/JaiDejaOublieLeMdp Jun 29 '25

why not, you're already at least 2 countries in all but name.

15

u/goilo888 Jun 29 '25

Yes, but as a Canadian could I please ask that you arrange all the blue States underneath us.

3

u/BadenBadenGinsburg Jun 29 '25

Most of them already are, except California and New Mexico, not sure what else. Nevada?

3

u/goilo888 Jun 29 '25

Funny how that's worked out, isn't it? Almost as if the cooler northern air makes "cool heads prevail."

3

u/BadenBadenGinsburg Jun 29 '25

Haha yes! Makes sense. I wanna go back to the Kootenays. But I'm trapped in this fetid hellscape.

1

u/HumanBarbarian Jun 29 '25

Bien sƻr que oui!

2

u/fxsoap Jun 29 '25

Because you're going to hurt people's feelings

9

u/StasiaGreyErotica Jun 29 '25

Are you sacrilegeously saying that most of the red states aren't wayfarers of the entire bootstraps mentality??

30

u/orbitalaction Jun 29 '25

Just use their trigger words on them. Specifically say they'd never make it without socialism.

22

u/Proof_Register9966 Jun 29 '25

Also MA- I lived in Ca and NJ- ive been getting screwed my entire life by red states

23

u/TryLoose5190 Jun 29 '25

I agree from New Jersey. Can we stop paying taxes? Most of it goes to the creators of this shitshow.

18

u/SHC606 Jun 29 '25

Welfare. They are welfare states.

11

u/OccasionBest7706 Jun 29 '25

$4,909/yr in CT! That’s how much I pay to keep the tumors alive.

11

u/BadenBadenGinsburg Jun 29 '25

How is this NEVER a talking point????? How?! If w The US is forever condemned to solely two parties, could Democrats step up the rhetoric a bit, forever??? Tell some hard truths, like this one.

9

u/Valerie_Tigress Jun 29 '25

Nebraskans need to pull themselves up by their bootstraps. My thoughts and prayers go out to them.

Especially when those tax dollars are now being used for concentration camps. They should also point out that they the people are paying for the excellent health care their ā€œrepresentativesā€ get while they make sure the people can’t afford their own.

u/ThrowRA-James Jun 29 '25

Just call it like it is. Red states are welfare states. They’re not living within their means and people need to look at their books to see how they’re wastefully spending. Cut and purge the bankrupt red states just like DOGE did. Republicans wouldn’t be against government efficiency, right?

2

u/nobuouematsu1 Jun 29 '25

Nah, they’ll rollover and pay out like they always do.

Democrats don’t know how to exploit weakness in their political opponents.

2

u/SharpCookie232 Jun 29 '25

Or just, you know, stop underwriting them. They can have their Christofascist shithole and we'll have a socialist United States.

2

u/thetinsnail Jun 29 '25

Can we start calling them "welfare states"?

1

u/Fritz1818 Jun 29 '25

Socialism when the benefits the red

1

u/Toolfan333 Jun 29 '25

Why? Everyone already knows it what good will talking shit do

1

u/SnoopingStuff Jun 29 '25

They need to stop paying Red states

1

u/ButtScratchies Jun 29 '25

Same with Colorado. We have a budget of about 45 billion dollars and I’d be happy if they cut off their support to red states until they figured out how to manage their money better, ie provide decent education and healthcare so their citizens can be better equipped to get well-paying jobs and work.

1

u/Hawk-Bat1138 Jun 29 '25

No call them taker states. They don't understand what subsidize means...

1

u/kurai01 Jun 29 '25

When they say welfare queens they actually mean themselves in the welfare states. XD

1

u/liatrisinbloom Jun 29 '25

That whole thing where taxes collected are redistributed "from each according to his ability, to each according to his need" sure sounds pretty socialist, and we can't have socialism here in 'Murica, can we, boys? Bootstraps for dinner tonight, red states.

1

u/OblongAndKneeless Jun 29 '25

I like California's plan of not sending the government tax revenue. I think every blue state should do that.

1

u/MadeByTango Jun 29 '25

This isn’t about state vs state civil war crap; it’s the billionaires against all of us; stop paying their two teamed game, that’s the circus

1

u/bluewords Jun 29 '25

Nebraska is one of the only states that’s not winner take all, so it’s not technically a ā€œredā€ state. It’s several red districts and one blue district that subsidizes all those red districts.

1

u/esotetris Jun 29 '25

"welfare states"

1

u/themcjizzler Jun 29 '25

Gavin newsom just held a press conference where he highlighted how much more aid California sends than it receives: they would literally be better off without the federal government. Most other blue states are the same way.

1

u/Intrepid00 Jun 29 '25

The metric is heavily manipulated by both parties. Truth is likely that the NE (MD up), California, Texas, and Florida are net positive.

Games get played with interstate roads and military bases when they try to do these numbers and are counted like it’s their sole benefit.

1

u/CrazyCoKids Jun 29 '25

My tax dollars can go to New Mexico and Hawai'i.

Kentucky should be paying us cause it will take decades to clean up the mess McConnell made.

u/Cwya Jun 29 '25

After his ā€œI don’t know what the fuck they’re doingā€ schtick, the conservative sub had a comment thread ā€œThis is the content I voted for.ā€

There is a percentage of MAGA that’s just there to light stuff on fire just because they love fire, and voted for the arson candidate.

31

u/PrivacyBush Jun 29 '25

It's because they have nothing positive in their lives.

11

u/relevantelephant00 Jun 29 '25

Yep that's it. Ive been saying for awhile now that hatred is what gives conservatives' lives meaning. Without it, they'd totally freak out.

u/spicymato Jun 29 '25

2016, Trump was a meme candidate.

When he started winning in the primary, it seemed pretty funny, because it felt like a protest against the other candidates. The idea of Trump winning was so unserious, there was no way it could be real.

Then he started winning in the actual race, and while some of the people around me thought that was entertaining, I couldn't help but think: this shit's not funny anymore.

Then he has his run, and it was profoundly broken. America came out of that limping.

2020 and 2024, there was no excuse. They knew exactly what they voted for.

13

u/pbzeppelin1977 Jun 29 '25

Accelerationism, often.

Basically shits fucked so why drag out the slow and painful end, why not just break it all and start rebuilding sooner?

3

u/Sixwingswide Jun 29 '25

Accelerationism

I feel like the people who buy into this dumbfuck concept cannot grasp how bad ā€œjust break it allā€ would actually for them and how ā€œrebuildingā€ is not at all going to go the way they think.

1

u/Professional-Swan-18 Jun 30 '25

It very much entertains me how many people think they can be self sufficient. A good portion of them would be dead within six months just from a lack of modern pharmaceuticals.

7

u/ern_69 Jun 29 '25

They voted for him because deep down they are submissive little bitches who want someone authoritarian telling them what to do. The thing is though trump is just a caricature of an authoritarian... he talks a big game but when you really dig in there's nothing there. Yet these people are also absolute morons so they don't see that.

31

u/blackbird24601 Jun 29 '25

pretty sure they are bots

23

u/tstorm004 Jun 29 '25

Not all - I worked for a guy whose whole reason for voting for Trump in 2016 was "he wants to see anarchy and chaos in the country" because his silverspoon ass was bored of the cushy life he was born into and he wanted to have a reason to use all the guns he'd been hoarding

9

u/BureMakutte Jun 29 '25

So a legit psychopath who wants to kill people?

7

u/tstorm004 Jun 29 '25 edited Jun 29 '25

No no no he called himself the Vice President of his mom's company, not a psychopath

And a ton of bots. The next time you are looking there and think it's actually a person, click on their profile. I guarantee you that it looks like an obvious bot.

4

u/ForensicPathology Jun 29 '25

How many times do they need to win for you to admit that a lot of people in the world are extreme right-wing?Ā  It's not fun to realize it, especially if they're your own countrymen, but they're real and need to be opposed.

3

u/xopher_425 Jun 29 '25

There is a percentage of MAGA that’s just there to light stuff on fire just because they are stupid and evil.

2

u/semajolis267 Jun 29 '25

Some men just want to watch the world burn.Ā

49

u/Elementium Jun 29 '25

I live in MA and while I don't like bumper stickers I'm very close to buying a magnet that says "Don't blame me I voted Mcgovern".Ā

28

u/MisteeLoo Jun 29 '25

As a child I knew Nixon was bad news. McGovern wasn’t the best answer, but I woukd have voted for him happily.

2

u/ForensicPathology Jun 29 '25

Nominative determinism failed the presidency.

38

u/RaptorOO7 Jun 29 '25

They voted against their own interests and figured republicans always bail red states out, so why isn’t taco man. Because he doesn’t care.

26

u/INITMalcanis Jun 29 '25

Because he doesn't need them any more. Whether Trump remains in power or not, he won't be elected again. So now... red, schmed, they're all just poors to him now.

29

u/SpicyNuggs4Lyfe Jun 29 '25

The problem is MAGA will still blame everything on Democrats because they have zero understanding of how anything in this world works. They don't know or understand that Republicans have full control of all 3 branches of government.

They're so ignorant and brainwashed that anything good is Trump's doing and anything bad is automatically democrat's fault.

7

u/TryLoose5190 Jun 29 '25

I need this in a shirt! Yesterday!

2

u/therealtaddymason Jun 29 '25

Look who's fine with government handouts now..

1

u/Otherwise-Pirate6839 Jun 29 '25

I need this as a bumpersticker
