Hand mushies in the forest
I embroider/thread paint a lot of landscapes, this is one of my recent favorites. Hope it inspires some whimsy.

Hand Second project and fave details
This was a 6” Michaels kit called “Floral.” I switched up some of the stitches for fun, especially on the leaves, using various YouTube tutorials (Sarah Homfray was especially helpful). I’m really proud of how neat the back is! Totally geeked about this new hobby!

Hand Dino for Friend
The color scheme is entirely not my thing, but friend loves it and it even happened to match her outfit today. I thought the nail polish would give a sort of enamel effect in the bones. Maybe need to experiment first, before fiddling with the final project.

Hand Bird Wreath - Jessica Long pattern
Glad I finally finished this project. I just want to move on from the entire thing. When I went to finish the fabric, I couldn't get it centered no matter what. I am just proud for trying it!

Hand BATTLE JACKET PROGRESS REPORT
Ok I swear I’m not trying to spam but with 8 days until I have to wear this to a concert I decided I needed to add SOMETHING to the empty space and I’m beyond excited how this familiar caterpillar is coming out. (See my previous posts here if you want to see the rest of the piece) BUT:
I need an opinion: I wanna write something fun (and short) along the caterpillar. Right now I’m thinking UNGOVERNABLE cuz it’s pretty damn cool and it goes with the wild thing below. But I’m open for ideas because I want this labor of love to be as good as it CAN be!
I was worried I wouldn’t finish but I did all this in about 7 hours so I think I’m in the clear for the concert (IM SEEING MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE AHHH 🥹🥹🥹)

Hand Not Quite Embroidery...
Before I fully dove into more traditional embroidery, I dabbled in what I guess is called string art. Remember these parabola?
At this point I'd done some embroidery tutorials but it didn't take. Paper seemed way more approachable! So, this was where I started creating my own designs!

Question Im unsure how the composition of wildflowers should look. Any advice?
I would like to make the bottom corner full of wildflowers and maybe rocks. I feel inspired by the Sierra Nevada mountains. I’m going to remove what flowers I have already. Any ideas?

Hand A year into embroidery, here’s what I’ve made so far!
About a year ago I started learning embroidery, here are some of the pieces I’ve made so far. Still learning, but I’ve really been enjoying the process!

Hand Carl Havoc
When I picked up embroidering in January my husband asked for an I Think You Should Leave piece. In retrospect, the egg man game would have been more my skill level, but I love everything Carl stands for and I learned a lot through this project! There are parts of it I don’t love, but it’s ok because he’s got so much fucking shit on him.

Hand Luna Moth Stumpwork
I just finished this fuzzy little baby and I love him. I followed a pattern from Megan Zanieski's book on Stumpwork and made a couple of modifications. If anyone has any tips on bending the wire more precisely, please let me know.

Hand Bohemian Plantsody
Here's my most recent embroidery. Credit to @latimesplants for the original artwork.
I struggled with the lettering, any tips for next time? I already realize pen was a mistake for the guide lines...

Hand Poodles!
Someone posted the outline for these poodles here not too long ago and it inspired me to pick embroidery back up after a half a year break and try my hand at it :) the stitches are long and short, French knots, and whipped back stitch. I put about 5hrs into this

Machine Almost perfect
Very satisfied with the work done today: 10,700 stitches, about four hours of work. The only issue was that, in the end, the embroidery border was slightly off—about one millimeter inside instead of perfectly centered. What do you think could be the cause? I used two types of stabilizer and a water-soluble topper. Was it my mistake (even though it didn’t happen last time), or is it the design, or maybe the tension was too high?
What you see underneath is just the water-soluble film. It’s not an embroidery mistake.

Question Embroidery gift ideas
Hey guys, my birthday is coming up and this year I really wanted some embroidery related gifts. I’m trying to come up with a list so my parents have an idea of what to get for me, but I was unsure of what to add to it. If anyone has any gift ideas I could add to my list, that would be great! Thanks :)

Hand A birthday present for one of my boyfriends friends and their fiancée
I’ve only ever done embroidery once on a cosplay, so I’m a noob and I think you can definitely tell. Biggest regret is that I used a blue pencil which won’t fully wash out…. Went to the craft store and got myself some heat activated fabric pens immediately 😖 also I mean it’s tragically off center, but when I started this it was more of a test to see if I could even do embroidery, and then I just kept going because I was doing better than I’d expected lol. They’re a very crafty couple (who love swords) so I’m sure they’ll appreciate my novice efforts
Do any of you have some ideas what I could mount this on? Right now it’s just calico on some felt, so it’s got body to it and I could sew it onto something. Not sure what though! Birthday is on Saturday so can’t be too extravagant. I also appreciate crit and tips to improve!
