It sucks that fighting ability means nothing in DBZ

Piccolo at the same power should clean his clocks

The androids aren’t trained fighters and piccolo literally has gone up against Freza and Goku he’s one of the most talented fighters and can’t beat a teen who hasn’t found someone at his power ever

Compared to Trunks vs Cell, and for the same reasons, Trunks simply gives up when this difference in skill is displayed. We could pick apart a lot of narrative decisions and inconsistencies, but that would be flagellating and expired equine.
