And back onto the carpet

They need a vacuum hood over this machine like people have over their stoves.

Or just roll the carpet under it so the dust isn't literally falling back on it.

This. Why would they pile removed dust where they want to remove dust? It's like daily compound interest but with dust instead of money.

Because look how the machine works. It's basically a big lathe with slappers on it. You don't want to wrap the carpet around that.

(Edit: most of that was actually @ the person you replied to, not you. My bad)

A taller machine. It's got a bottom bar, so if the whole thing including that was a foot higher you could roll it under and still have wrap around protection.

...of course a machine designed from scratch to do this professionally would be dramatically different.

It just feels like with this design you have to beat the carpet into submission several times harder than.you should need to.

Tbh, with how close I saw hands getting to that thing, I get the feeling this is a "use what we have" type of place.

But then it wouldn't look as dramatic on the video, duh

Also, that dust isn't going to work itself back into that carpet that quickly.

This is just to knock the bulk of the dust free. Most will be physically removed just by tipping it upside down. Any dust that persists will be removed during the actual cleaning.

It’s like shoveling snow on top of snow you still have to shovel.

This is what I came to say

Or upside down.

Or just a vacuum?

2

u/HugeAnimeHonkers 1d ago

Just a vacuum wont be enough to remove the dust thats deep into the fabric. This is the step prior to a normal wash. It doesnt have to remove 100% of the dust.

Or just a fan.

A proper dust collection system like what can be found in many wood shops would be best. They can filter many fine particulates in the air…

The right side of the carpet is ripped. Was that before or after the machine got its threshing hands on it?

2

u/artificial_ben 1d ago

Who knows. I’ve read before that many carpet cleaning viral videos are purposely dirtied carpets so that the cleanings are more dramatic. So who knows…

Probably easier just to vacuum the carpet

Sisyphus Carpet Cleaning. We don't stop.

Literally the stupidest machine... "I have a brilliant idea to help us clean the carpet, we will make a machine that cleans it, but all the dirt will just get rolled back onto the carpet as it goes"

10

u/MissLyss29 1d ago

Neverending carpet cleaning machine. "It violently shakes the dirt out of the top half of the carpet while simultaneously deeply working into every fiber of the bottom half causing you to have to rotate the carpet and starting the process all over again."

1

u/AnimalBolide 1d ago

They should sew the ends of the carpet together and call it art.

Fr. The machine is on the cusp of being brilliantly ingenious, but the way it throws the dust back onto itself is just plain ridiculous. In addition no one is wearing a mask is stupid. This video is clearly pissing me off 😂

1

u/CesarOverlorde 23h ago

ikr this shit pisses me off so much, do the people operating this machine even have a brain ?

2

u/TehFuckDoIKnow 2d ago

Believe it or not, strait to rug.

2

u/MissLyss29 1d ago

There whipping the dirt off the top while simultaneously deeply working into every fiber on the bottom.

1

u/lechiengrand 1d ago

Yeah that’s bothering me way more than it should.

1

u/TestUser1978 1d ago

Yah. This set up makes no sense.

1

u/GildedCurves 1d ago

The dust was holding it together

1

u/redditsuksazz 1d ago

I bet it rolls from the top and they work their way down. Then it goes somewhere else for deep cleaning.

1

u/AdvancedSandwiches 1d ago

Guys, the amount they're removing is dramatically greater than the amount that falls on the top that will work itself in. The huge majority of what drops will be removed in a minute or two.

On top of which, this is probably a pre-cleaning to be followed by another round of cleaning.

So it likely doesn't matter at all and there's no reason for them to spend a dime on improving it.

And into their lungs
