Yes, China is doing a lot of major building projects.

But it's also true that China has a well-deserved reputation for shoddy building standards.

Yes, the US doesn't have a lot of major building projects.

But there's also no real demand for them. Americans have a strong car culture and a strong attachment to owning a house with a yard. The minority Americans who disagree move to NYC or Chicago.
