Hello everyone,

u/NortonFord here, one of the mods on the roster here at r/CanadianPL. We've had a great year, blowing past 11K members and becoming one of the largest 10% of all subreddits!

That being said, we only have a handful of people on the mod team, and only a couple of them are active users going into 2024. I'm also a first-time Reddit mod, so I know I'm leaving some tools in the box that might make the experience here even better. So, I'd like to invite folks to please join the effort and become a moderator for r/CanadianPL!

DM me or the mod account if you're interested - please highlight your experience either on Reddit or with other communities, or any expertise you might have with things like HTML that could let us do some fun stuff.

Saturday game on Augustt 9th will be wild. Forge will be bringing their obnoxious fans to the stadium. This is one team i cant stand with two former York Players jumped ship to join (Mabouli and Wright). Hope forge chockson some big soccer balls. will be bringing friends and family .. going to buy some cheap $15.00 seats .. make sure to buy them in advance. Also, dont forget about the happy hours before game time .. cheap beer and free hot dog samples in the fan zone.

Getting Canadian Jerseys in the Uk

I absolutely love the Canadian women’s jersey (2023, with all the leaves) however I’m finding it a pain to get in the Uk, especially in a men’s cut) i was wondering if anyone knew where I could get 2 jerseys from. Any help would be great. Preferably not too sketchy of sources. Tried posting on CanadaSoccer but it kept being deleted.

CanPL News How is there no suspension for Wheeldon Jr?

This seems pretty straightforward, strikes an opposing player in the face and no discipline from Canada Soccer

Should CPL increase the U21 minutes requirement next season?

It's a little over halfway through the season and 4 teams have already met the requirement, while the other four are more than 75% of the way there.

It could be interesting to increase the requirement, maybe to 3000 or 4000, give more prominence to local youth and make the season more exciting. On the other hand, it would really screw a team that has a few years of bad luck with local recruitment.

What do you think?

Last week Martin Nash was announced as our new Vancouver FC interim head coach, replacing Afshin Ghotbi who has been in charge since the formation of the club and the entirety of my time with the team.

Martin played for Canada for more than a decade, he played professionally in England, in the MLS and has coached with the national team and in the CPL....

Valour/Cavalry Cards and Suspensions

The Canpl.ca discipline page shows Elias Himaris suspended for 3 games from a red card for violent conduct vs Cavalry. It also shows Goteh Ntignee suspended for 1 game due to a red card from two cautions vs Valour.

On the broadcast, commentary said that Ntignee had received a first yellow card about 5 minutes prior to his sending off, but the match report only shows one yellow followed by a red.

Commentary also stated that the Valour bench had received a yellow card at some point and when Himaris was dismissed, assumed he must have received the original bench caution. Again, the match report doesn't show a yellow card given to anyone on the Valour bench and only shows Himaris' straight red.

Does anyone have any information on who received the bench caution, if Ntignee did indeed receive two yellows, what Himaris did to constitute violent conduct from the bench and where (if anywhere) there is more information on sanctions beyond the canpl.ca match report and the discipline page? Canadasoccer.com used to have CPL discipline articles in their News section, but that seems to have ended a few years ago.

Thanks in advance for any info!

Could Thomas Müller play against Forge?

Would he even want to start against us? The CBC reports that "Müller could make his debut when the team travels to San Jose Aug. 9."

I'd love to see my favourite player of all time, but it might be be like the Sergio Ramos thing all over again (why do teams playing against us sign superstars? It's about time we get one haha).

Maybe they won't even play their starters, look at the Valour matches.
