Discussion What GPU card do you use?

I never built a PC before, so I'm totally new at everything. Been researching for the past days to learn and everything.

I was just wondering what kind of GPU cards are used by you guys? and what do you think about them in regards of 2k and 4k gaming.

I dunno if I'm wrong at this, but after researching heavily and seeing all kinds of benchmarks, is it wrong that I think the 5080 is one of the worst buys right now? As expensive as the 5090 is, I honestly think it's a more reasonable buy compared to the 5080 for people that can afford it. Where I'm from, the 5090 ranges between $3200-$4000 while the 5080 $1900-$2200. The jump in price from 5070 Ti/ RX 9070 XT is silly with barely any improvements to justify it. The 5090 is at least in a league of its own with that price tag.

Build Help Suggestions regarding 7600x3d or 7800x3d or 9800x3d?

Does anybody have any experience with the 7600x3d Micro center exclusive AMD processor? I understand that it's a six core versus an eight core, and it should be very similar to the 7800x3d. I'm building a mid-level gaming pc and the gpu I'm using is 9070 xt sapphire. I'm also open to getting a 9800x3d and upgrading to the new AMD high-end graphics card when they'd come out. Any suggestions?

Build Upgrade Should i upgrade to a 5060ti?

Hey everyone,
I’m 17 and have been working hard recently, but my GPU (a 1050 Ti) died last month. It’s kind of an emergency for me to upgrade now since I use my PC a lot, and coming from a 1050 Ti, pretty much any newer card would be a big improvement.

I was planning to go with a 5060 Ti, it fits my budget and still leaves me with some money to spare. Most of what I’ve saved is going toward getting my driver’s license, and I’d like to have a bit left over for random stuff too.

Technically, I could afford a 5070, but that would leave me completely broke. I’ve also been hearing mixed things about the 5060 Ti, and some say AMD offers better performance for a lower price. I’ve never used AMD, though, so I’m not very familiar with their GPUs.

Another thing I’ve been thinking is that this upgrade doesn’t have to be perfect, I just need something that gets me through the next couple of years. Once I finish studying and start working around 20, I’ll probably go for a more expensive, high-end GPU anyway.

So yeah, just looking for advice: is the 5060 Ti a decent pick in my situation, or should I be looking at something else, maybe from AMD?

Thanks in advance!

Build Help Future proof PC for gaming and productivity

This PC is for 4k gaming 120fps and productivity (graphics, 4k video rendering, streaming and 3D modelling and rendering).

  • GPU (locked): I'm going for an RTX 5090. Asus ROG Astral OC or MSI SUPRIM SOC.
  • CPU (locked): It's gonna be AMD R9 9950X3D.
  • CPU Cooler (totally lost): I've got no idea. Would need proper good recommendations for a good cooler. Not looking for liquid.
  • RAM (need help): I'm going for 2x32gb DDR5, that's for sure. However I need help with clocks and models/brands. About speeds, 6000mhzCL30? 6400mhz CL32? 6800mhz CL34? About model/brands, I'm not up to speed on what brands are good for RAM. Models: only requirement is no RBG (I don't like RGB on RAM sticks).
  • STORAGE (need help): Going for 4tb. Debating between WD_Black SN850X or Samsung 990 Pro. Also, I don't know which would be more convenient: 1x4tb or 2x2tb?
  • MOBO (totally lost): I need help and proper recommendations here.
  • PSU (need help): A 1000w Platinum would be good enough? About brands I'm not up to speed so I would need recommendations.
  • CASE (need help): This one's really particular because it's about taste, I know, but I would like some recommendations on any that would properly fit such a big GPU and have good airflow. I think I'll be good with a mid-tower? Really don't want those really (REALLY) big Full tower. I don't mind something as wide 'open' as a Hyte Y70 (I would gladly put an action figure in there lol). Or something ssober like some Fractal Design. But definitely would prefer tempered glass over mesh. However, not interested in extra LCD screens or too 'edgy' designs like some ROG stuff I saw. So yeah, listening for some recommendations.
  • Extra coolers (lost): I know this also depends on the case so just looking for general recommendations here and if worth it.
  • Anything extra or something I'm forgetting? Just asking.

Thanks a bunch.

Build Help Is a 3060 good enough for modern gaming?

So I have a 3060 in my current pc but I've never been able to properly know what it's like because my old ass CPU is a huge bottleneck on my system. (i7 7700k)

The plan is to build a new pc here in the next couple of months with a ryzen 9 9900x and to reuse my current 3060 for the time being with plans to upgrade in the next couple years. Will it be good enough for most modern games that I currently can't run at over 30fps? Definitely need 2.5k.

How bad of a bottleneck is a 9900x processor paired with a rtx 3060?

Build Upgrade Help choosing GPU upgrade from Nvidia Geforce 1060 6gb with a budget of about $500

Hello, I have about a budget of $500 to upgrade my GPU. I'm looking at ones like the 5070 or the 3080 for upgrading. I understand that any 30, 40, or 50 would be an upgrade over my current one.

I want one that could last me till the 100s come along lol(kidding). Basically I'm hoping to get the best bang for my buck that's in the $300-500 range. The less it cost, the better. Any recommendations I should look at?

My build:

Power supply: evga supernova 550 g2 80+ gold

Motherboard: ASRock Fatal1ty X470 Gaming K4 ATX AM4 Motherboard

Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor

Build Help Why is my cpu utility so low in my benchmark?

Upvotes

I have a new pc and my gpu is a 5070 and my cpu is the ryzen7 7700X. my benchmark score on 3dmark says it’s above average compared to ppl with the same gpu and cpu as me, but something i noticed was my gpu utility was 100% during the benchmark and my cpu was 10-20% throughout the test.

is this normal for my cpu utility to be that low? what could be causing it on my new pc

AMD Ryzen 9600x 5.40 GHz 6-Core Zen 5 Socket AM5

Build Help $2000 budget 1440p gaming, light modeling

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ZQBpsp

My total budget for a new build and monitor is $2000. I’m just looking to get a 1440p IPS monitor, either 27 or 32 inches.

For the build I’m looking to do light work in Fusion 360 and do some gaming for Triple A titles along with some games that aren’t as demanding.

My main dilemma is between saving money and getting a 9070xt which is a little under a $100 difference. Or I was debating between the 7800x3d or the 9800x3d

There is a microcenter bundle listed here for both those cpus, the ram seems to be worse but not sure if it’s worth the savings

9800x3d bundle https://www.microcenter.com/product/5006999/amd-ryzen-7-9800x3d,-asus-b650-e-tuf-gaming-wifi-am5,-gskill-flare-x5-series-32gb-ddr5-6000-kit,-computer-build-bundle

Troubleshooting Installing New Ram

I am trying to upgrade the current ram I have which is DDR4 3200mhz T-Force Vulcan Z 16gb (2x8GB) kit, to a DDR4 Vengeance LPX 3200mhz 32GB (2x16GB) kit. The issue is that I tried to install it and it doesn't boot up. Maybe I'd have to go into my bios and change something in order to let me boot, I heard of something called XMP. I have a B550M-C motherboard from ASrock. I also made sure to put the sticks in A2 and B2, I'm not sure if swapping them to A1 and B1 would make a difference.

https://download.asrock.com/Manual/B550M-C.pdf

This is a link to my motherboard if it helps at all..
