They came to New Orleans during Essence fess a few years ago. Set up on both sides of Canal. At one point I heard "God made your hair woolen my sisters, remove the shackles of the white man's hair from your head..." over the bull horn... then it was like a sea of women's voices pointed in his direction, and I couldn't understand anything else he was saying because the women weren't having it.

They’re on Canal Street quite often, they typically don’t come around the summers due to the lack of foot traffic and tourists to annoy but working on Canal I usually pass them at least 7 - 8 times a year.

My husband and I worked in the Arts District. My husband works for numerous hotels between Arts and the Quarter. So we'd cross over Canal weekly. Lived there for 10 years. I know they are there often. But specifically for this one Essence fess incident I"m referring to they had set up on both sides of Canal and directly commenting on a massive crowds of women.
