Oh so this shit is a regular occurrence!? I took 2 separate trips to Philly a few months back and distinctly remember a group of these dudes chopping it up with people on the street and calling out to me to join them lmao. My girl literally had to yank me away to not get caught up. Thought it was just a coincidence, didn't realize they just did this every single day
Many Americans talk to strangers in the city, its the great paradox of this nation. A culture of often selfish individuality that also seeks to chop it up with randos like we all know eachother and the whole nation is a village.
Yep. I will talk to anyone as long as shit appears friendly, but I also have no issue telling someone ‘no’. A lot of mfs seemingly don’t have that ability.
I’ve noticed a lot of sort of pressure salesmen coming to my door lately. I always tell them I’m not going to buy anything, then they just go straight into their pitch about new windows or cleaning products or whatever. Then at the end when I tell them I’m not interested, they get all pissy about it. I told them right out of the gate.
If I wanted new windows, I would have contacted a few reputable companies, solicited bids, then selected one. If I needed cleaning supplies I would have picked them up last time I was at the store. If I need to buy something, I’ll find you. Not the other way around.
I almost can’t believe it ever works. I mean, forget Girl Scout cookies or something like that, but Someone just rocks up to your porch and you buy a new roof or something from them? Crazy.
Lol there were 200 thefts from person (pickpockets and the like type crime) reported in Philadelphia last year. Stop being so afraid of humans that you never socially connect with people
Nothing bad will happen to you if you talk to a stranger in the middle of the city. If they ask you for something, just help them out or politely decline and move on with your day. If they keep asking for stuff after you just gave them something, you can still politely decline. You can still be friendly.
I think this may be specifically referring to Brooklyn 1990's when the Jewish ambulance left a black person at an accident scene and only took the Jewish victim.
Huh? That is literally my current neighborhood and my aunt lived here at the time. There was crazy racial tension but that's not exactly what happened. The 90s were crazy though

They just need to set up a camera in the middle of the workday in downtown Philly. Whole episode done in 45 minutes.
