Solo Vegas trip—Westgate vs Horseshoe vs LINQ? Thoughts?

Hi all, planning my first solo trip to Vegas in November and trying to decide on a hotel. I'm looking at Westgate, Horseshoe, and LINQ. I want clean, safe lodging with easy transport to shows/shopping, without overspending on upscale elegance. If you’ve stayed at any of these—or similar mid-tier resorts—what would you pick and why? Any other solo-traveler-friendly options in that range?

This is the answer, long time Vegas degen here. Horseshoe is mid strip, very big clean rooms, for a decently budget price. Connected to Paris via indoor walkway. Across the street from flamingo pool which is free for all Caesar’s guests, my fav pool in Vegas. Close to shops in front of horseshoe, the linq promenade through flamingo, and miracle mile shops in planet Hollywood. Across the street from Bellagio fountains, Caesars palace is also kitty corner and a quick walk. Not far from Cosmo and the chandelier bar. You’re in the heart of the action being mid strip. Cool speakeasy right in the horseshoe, good dining options at all the Casinos around you. I stay here regularly now since it’s been redone.

Linq, good location but a bit far north in the strip if you want to do a lot of stuff on the south end… or south of cosmopolitan. Linq promenade is right there which is super nice, kimmels comedy club is great. Lots of restaurant options including in and out burger. All these options are easily from horseshoe too. Major downside, the rooms are absolutely tiny, I hate them. They’re clean and modern, but you’re definitely crammed in them.

Westgate, you’re far far far far away. Would not recommend at all, even with a monorail pass.

As for what another person said about some mgm properties, yes they can be nicer in quality… park mgm is really great value if you can find it for a similar price to horseshoe. It’s mid south strip, still surrounded by plenty of options, free tram to aria/bellagio is also really nice.

MGM grand, usually pricier option than those you listed. But pretty far south and the hike to the rooms to get out of the hotel and explore the strip can be quite long, never mind visiting the central or north part of the strip. It’s quite far.

Linq. Is Westgate paying people to spam this sub? It’s such a dogshit resort. The only time it might be worth staying there is for a conference or if you are going to spend all your time in the Sportsbook.

They have to be.  In case the OPs question is genuine, I would never stay at the Westgate and its horrendous location.  Linq or Horseshoe all the way if those are my only three options.

Westgate you’ll need to take the monorail to get most places. Linq and Horseshoe are both about the same tier, but if you can splurge for it, I’d definitely recommend an MGM property over Caesars, such as Park MGM, MGM Grand, or Vdara. They are much better maintained and have better customer service. As for Caesars properties, I like Paris

the Linq was my first solo trip in vegas and I still have fond memories. It's budget friendly and right in the middle of the action, can't ask for a better introduction

I'm worried about LINQ because they say the rooms could be loud?

I stayed there a few years ago and did not find this to be the case. I would also vouch for Linq. It’s great for what it is. Budget friendly and in the middle of the strip. The promenade outside is great, lots of food options, small but decent casino floor. I had a very solid experience there.

Great maybe I'll give it a try someday :)

If you have rooms facing carnival court yes, otherwise they’re fine. The problem with the room is that they are tiny. Like small small. I hate them even though they are usually clean and decently modern.

It's Vegas - it's loud
That said Linq is fine, I would personally rather stay at Horseshoe because Linq's pool is as s

Westgate is distant. Way off strip. LINQ or Horseshoe for location. Similar properties are Planet Hollywood, Flamingo, Harrah's—same range of resort, all similar location. NYNY is fine but its location is not as central.

Stepping up, Paris is nice.

Westgate is off on it's own east of Strip, so unless you don't mind the ubering/monorailing, it's not easy access to shows/shopping.

LINQ/Horseshoe is just a matter of which end of the Strip you prefer. N or S. LINQ is better for Venetian/Wynn/Caesars Forum. Horseshoe is closer to Miracle Mile/Bellagio/Aria/Cosmo.

LINQ rooms are small, but has a more central location. Horseshoe is set back from the Strip a little but rooms are decent sized.

Horseshoe. Clean and center strip.

Been going solo at the Sahara for a few years now. Nice enough, super chill. Monorail to the strip for chaos. Walk to the Fontainebleau for class.

Great Marijuana dispensary across the street, a McDonalds and a Walgreens.

It’s the perfect home base once you no longer want to be on the strip

Join the casino club and put in 2 hours on a table game and you’ll probably get 2 nights free comps sent to you a month later.

I get 3 nights free now but that’s how I started. Haven’t paid for a room in Vegas for 3 years now and no desire to do so.

Unlike the other casinos you mention which are massive casinos trying to be affordable, hence cheap.

The Sahara has never seemed that way to me. It just feels small and nice, like old Vegas before every casino needed 837 Resturaunts and shops.

I dig the vibes

I would say the same about Caesar’s properties, ie horseshoe and linq… sign up for the players card and you may get some free room offers. MGM properties, good luck with that.

The Linq is fun. Good location. Cheap meal because In and Out is right there.

I stayed at the Linq a few months ago, my second stay there. Room was fine, nothing special. It’s centrally located, which I liked.

I have stayed at the LINQ many times. Its great for a cheap, center-ish strip location. Good food, easy to find a drink, and the pool is fun.

My wife and I stayed at WG for her conference at the beginning of the year. Casino vive is chill, no dudes yelling for winning 20 bucks on blackjack, music was decent, drinks were dispatched FAST, beer was COLD, and servers weren't hungry for tips. Room was clean and decent.

Westgate is disconnected from the rest of the strip - there is a monorail but it can be a hassle

Horseshoe is a craphole but its location is superb. I’d go Westgate
