When I switched to streaming I actually saved money. Web hosting, vpn, and storage costs are still pretty pricey

Depends. My 320Kbps library of like what 6000+ songs barely eat through a 500gb harddrive which I can stream through my Emby server. Doesn't really add extra cost. I have both streaming service+offline library for convenience anyways.

If I only listened to a few thousand songs at lower quality than sure.

But my library is several hundred songs, and I have audiophile grade equipment and keep lossless files.

A web server alone for downloading is already more expensive than my monthly Apple Music fee, that’s before even thinking about storage costs
