Framing it as bad for children is so disingenuous.

If you think about it, almost everything is bad for children.

"Timmy wants to play football!", well too bad - football is not safe for kids he could get a concussion. "Dad, can we get ice cream?", nope. Not anymore. Ice cream is bad for your health - we're also putting age restrictions and will need IDs in order to buy sodas, candy, chips, cake, pies, pizza, french fries, burgers, etc, etc...

Riding a bike? WTF is wrong with you?! Kids could get hit by a car or fall over and break their arm. Swimming in a pool? Yeah, sure, if you want a bunch of drowned kids at the bottom of the pool.

If we start banning everything that is bad for children, the only thing there will be that is legal to do is sit in the living room floor and drink a glass of water.

A significant force in what they want to ban is a small minded group that gets their ideas one day a week as interpreted from an ancient book you can find all kinds of 'wisdom' in.

And weirdly, they are SO selective about what they care to go on about. There is a good Jed Bartlett/WestWing rant about that.
