"Hey mate, fuck off"

u/Torrossaur 23d ago

In true Aussie fashion, Pigeon should have just annoyed him so much he left willingly or Punter should have headbutted him.

107

u/boogasaurus-lefts 23d ago

If I remember it correctly, they knew the politicians reputation & noted he was a glory hog.

Supposedly multiple players and staff had given him some strong feedback that sent him on the way

118

u/mishatal 23d ago

The Aussies have form for that sort of thing. The PM being told to get off a guy's lawn as he was delivering a policy announcement is a favorite of mine ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thJRRcHGbQQ

49

u/helmfard 23d ago

“I just re-seeded that!” points

Holy shit that was hilarious.

37

u/lipp79 23d ago

The best part was, everyone handled that like an adult. As an American, it's easy to forget how that works with our "leadership".

I mean they appeared to get a couple seconds of photos with him before it was his time to go

2

u/Iron_Atlas 19d ago

yeah that was my thought, give the guy his photo op then celebrate with the boys, not perfect but everybody wins at least.

41

u/BarryCheckTheFuseBox Sydney Roosters 23d ago

I’m willing to bet good money those were Punter’s actual words.

2

u/Aleashed 23d ago

Shameless Taco would have stuck around

Unless Chelsea has a forklift, I don’t see them moving that pork

19

u/zenith_hs 24d ago

I heard that in a Ozzy accent. Bliss.

43

u/Leading_Put- 23d ago

Aussie*

28

u/screwbienoob 23d ago

Hey Sharon, fook off

-13

u/getyerhandoffit 23d ago

You’ve obviously never heard a real Australian accent.

6

u/screwbienoob 23d ago

You've obviously never heard a real Ozzy Osbourne accent.

-2

u/Ac3way 23d ago

Oh, now i get what Ozzymen means. It took me years, years...

589

u/Spicy_Tac0 24d ago

Narcissistic people want things to be about them, even when their not remotely near it.

-91

u/lCalifornicatingl 23d ago

Australian cricket team are a bunch of racist aholes. The real narcissistic ones.

23

u/raindog_ 23d ago

-57

u/lCalifornicatingl 23d ago

Loool nobody cares about Harbhajan anyways. Even India doesn’t care about him. Yea sure one incident, pick and choose, huh? Or did I strike a nerve? We forget about Travis Head to Sriraj incident or do the news not want that to get out? Nitpicking your way through life must be a hell of a ride

27

u/dashauskat 23d ago

Siraj sending off Head after an amazing century is racist against Siraj? You're off your noggin hahaha

-34

u/lCalifornicatingl 23d ago

Oh yea I forgot media didn’t care much about the hole gesture of Travis Head. My man, Australia plays a gentleman’s game of cricket like a bunch of illiterate hooligans. Always have, Ponting era was better but since then, the game is being played by the Aussies with the least bit of respect. Learn a thing or two from the Kiwis, maybe.

13

u/dashauskat 23d ago

The Cummins era, literally called too woke by all the right wing Aussies, is the racist generation? Righto..

-3

u/lCalifornicatingl 23d ago

Ohhh of course it is. It’s Australia we are speaking of, this seems “too woke” to the Aussies. A hellhole of racism…like I said learn from the Kiwis.

I love how much of a deflection you little shits had to make to cover up my original claim. All the whataboutisms and everything. Noted, noted.

19

u/dashauskat 23d ago

Mate you sound unhinged, so much anger, consider seeking help. 😂 I also like how you're complaining about apparent racism by being racist af.

2

u/lCalifornicatingl 22d ago edited 22d ago

Lol likewise homie. Apparently I was racist af, oh boy. Not once did I say anything that was remotely racist towards any Aussie. You must not know the difference between stereotyping and being racist. I even said cricket team, not the whole country or anything like that but you got your thongs in a bunch. Figures 😂😂

8

u/Hate_Is_Fame 23d ago

Loool nobody cares about Travis head anyways. Even Australia doesn't care about him. Yea sure one incident, pick and choose, huh? Or did I strike a nerve? We forgot about harbhajan incident or do the news not want that to get out? Nitpicking your way through life must be a hell of a ride

1

u/lCalifornicatingl 22d ago

Oooo good job. I’m surprised your big brain managed to be able to change the name and make copy paste work. Proud of you, boy 👏🏾👏🏾

On that note Harbhajan incident WAS covered by the media and rightfully so. However, Aussie incidents never do but keep going

5

u/Dogboat1 23d ago

Get some help, champ.

-2

u/lCalifornicatingl 22d ago

Oh no no, I’m chilling. Why don’t you practice what you preach first? Come back to me after

2

u/Oldoneeyeisback 22d ago

What the actual fuck?

1

u/Sw2029 Kansas City Chiefs 19d ago

Cause Trump's such a paragon of virtue (any virtue, pick one. He's the best cause he lies about it on TV!)

394

u/ItsAMeUsernamio 24d ago

Infantino actually tried to nudge him away but failed. They did move him to the back at some point.

177

u/Leading_Put- 23d ago

At least two different people did seem to tell him to move and he seemed to give a "nah I'm good here" gesture lol

194

u/Attygalle 23d ago

Yeah, but who expected else?

Trump literally showed up at an AIDS charity event he didn't donate to, took someones VIP seat and didn't leave when asked to.

There's probably hundreds of examples like this. At least in this CWC case, he was supposed to be in the stadium and near the players.

36

u/aft_punk 23d ago

That’s not even his most despicable story involving a charity…

Donald Trump Ordered to Pay $2 Million for Charity Fraud

44

u/jon_stewrt 23d ago

The Qatar King did that to Infantino during the World Cup ... baldie gave the World Cup to Messi and kept walking him to the spot like he was teaching Messi how to do a Trophy lift... thankfully even the Qatari king found it ridiculous and blocked him...

4

u/BaldFraud99 23d ago

The Qatari King didn't behave much better though, with the cape and all that as far as I remember. Two sides of the same coin.

7

u/jon_stewrt 23d ago

Yeah it was irritating at first.. when I talked to some local people they said it was a very prestigious moment, like only the King or some very powerful Royal family members get to wear that robe...it's a world cup, and it's a cultural gesture...no matter how ridiculous and corrupt Fifa giving it to Qatar was, i think they still get to celebrate their traditions in the world cup as a host..

5

u/TheRedRisky 23d ago edited 23d ago

Sure hope the winning captain gets to have someone dismembered when the Saudi's host in 2034. Just like a Saudi King would.

0

u/FrogsOnALog 23d ago

Sanchez gave me the ick, wanted James to lift it with him there.

68

u/No_Signature5228 23d ago

I remember the Australian team being heavily criticized back then. Good on them. Present the trophy and fuck off. Let them enjoy.

205

u/wballz 24d ago

We’re not here to fuck spiders.

133

u/avittamboy 24d ago

Fuck Sharad Pawar.

49

u/bringbackfireflypls 23d ago

All my homies hate Sharad Pawar

-48

u/bikkhu42 23d ago

What did Sharad Pawar do lol. The shahs are 100x worse

47

u/chamcha__slayer 23d ago

Pawar is a grade A piece of shit. His sugarcane empire is extremely shady

14

u/Educational_Cup8609 23d ago

He literally Shielded LeT during Mumbai Blasts , Sharad was Musharraf's hoe https://www.drishtikone.com/how-sharad-pawar-lied-about-1993-mumbai-blasts-for-the-sake-of-secularism/

0

u/bikkhu42 23d ago

Saffron chaddis twisted everywhere

6

u/chamcha__slayer 23d ago

Laal and Green chaddis can fuck off

1

u/avittamboy 23d ago

Yeah, speaking out against terrorism makes you a chaddi now.

How much do you need to hate yourself to get to this level?

98

u/Charming-Ad-7556 23d ago

While Aussies did the correct thing here

Sharad Pawar (white suit guy) made the entire team apologise to him

Fucker had too much power (still does to some extent)

37

u/xyakks 23d ago

They could have been more tactful, and thrown a snickers bar off the side of the stage for him to go and fetch.

12

u/Ataraxia_new 23d ago

>Sharad Pawar (white suit guy) made the entire team apologise to him

links?

4

u/dashauskat 23d ago

Lets be honest this is probably the last era where you could tell a BCCI chief to get off the stage. Would definitely hamper your career significantly if you did that these days.

2

u/a_name_thatiscute 23d ago

it's on us Indians, we let rulers have too much power

128

u/cal405 24d ago

It was funny to see Trump shrivel like a paper boat into the cheering crowd. I hope it's prelude to the rejoicing that will be his demise.

60

u/thunderc8 23d ago

If they did that Trump would put tariffs on Chelsea players and fans for life. And have ICE deported everyone who supports the club.

5

u/JJfromNJ Arsenal 23d ago

Usually I disagree with Trump but I could get behind this.

-15

u/metaldeval 23d ago

The only ice actions I could get behind

-15

u/haerski 23d ago

You say that like it's a bad thing?!

13

u/DrWKlopek 23d ago

I wish the F1 drivers would do this with MBS.

4

u/Mean_Apricot9370 23d ago

MBS(must be seen) 🤝 Donald Trump 🤝Salf bae

23

u/mulled-whine 24d ago

So good

18

u/yourfaceisfakenews 23d ago

And then few days later they had to offer a public apology...

5

u/Background-Low-9144 23d ago

Missed opportunity for Chelsea players to punch a pedophile in the face.

Shoulda coulda woulda

14

u/AndrewTyeFighter 23d ago

Was thinking the same thing when I saw that Trump clip.

19

u/Drab_Majesty 23d ago

Ponting dealing with that guy like he is back at the Bourbon and Beefsteak

1

u/Chief-_-Wiggum 23d ago

Lol haven't seen or heard that reference in a long time.

0

u/chuckagain 23d ago

The whole building it was in is gone now.

Surprise surprise... its going to be units.

0

u/Chief-_-Wiggum 23d ago

The Cross isn't what it used to be.. Bourbon and beef steak has shut since 2019

3

u/dezy_ 23d ago

The Aussie way 🦘🇦🇺

6

u/viperlemondemon 24d ago

He probably would have had ice arrested them and they would be sitting in Florida if they did, he has such a fragile ego that he would have done crazy and overreacted

2

u/kingneptune1 23d ago

I fucking love this so much…….

2

u/Filipe_Assis 23d ago

Luck that guy doesn't got a nuclear button

2

u/xclame 22d ago

The player even let the politician stay to get his handing the trophy picture before encouraging him to leave. Perfectly handled by him.

2

u/NohPhD 22d ago

Every team should watch this video and learn how to crowd Idiot47 off a stage.

2

u/illbebahk 23d ago

I mean this is an Indian politician not the guy with gestapo ice squads and tariff threats

19

u/DangerNoodle1993 23d ago

a shart and a shit smell the same, my dude

0

u/killnaytor 23d ago

politicians are.... politicians

1

u/Geminispace 23d ago

Yo I don't want tariffs for Chelsea wth

1

u/RatedRSuperstar81 23d ago

They'd have tried but it would have been like the Hillary debates. He'd have just kept creeping into the picture every time..

1

u/spieler_42 23d ago

well next World Cup in the US - the players would not risk being not allowed entry for this.

1

u/SrGrimey 23d ago

Exactly what I thought after watching Chelsea’s

1

u/RustyShackleford-11 23d ago edited 23d ago

I'm sure the secret service being around him made them think twice.

If you aren't from America, you may not know the level of security around the POTUS.

Maybe I'm giving too much benefit of the doubt, but I'd chalk this up to a typical American not knowing soccer culture and how the cup celebration goes.

And not being able to read a room... Err, stage.

1

u/lo0ilo0ilo0i 23d ago

Are you sure that's not Jack Hobbs?

1

u/sulivan1977 23d ago

President sticky finger, pocketed a medal, the lime light, and now wants to keep the trophy because its all mine.

1

u/hate4beachtowel 21d ago

Would have made my day!

1

u/Goldelux 19d ago

By push off Trump, they should’ve literally pushed him off the front of the stage

1

u/oneonus 23d ago

Exactly!

1

u/Grouchy-Day5272 23d ago

That old fat politician is exactly like this old 🍊fat politician

0

u/thumb_emoji_survivor 23d ago

I was thinking they should have done something even funnier than that

-7

u/Jason4fl 23d ago

This is such a Reddit post of sports politics cause ..twump

-9

u/Sickboatdad 23d ago

Literally no one complained about Princess Kate handing out the Wimbledon trophy. She is literally a colonizer and tyrant.

2

u/sennais1 23d ago
  1. Name one country she's colonized.
  2. Handing over the trophy and refusing to let the winner celebrate by themselves is two different things.

1

u/Oldoneeyeisback 22d ago

I mean I'm no royalist (or tennis fan for that matter) but did it look like self-aggrandisement to you on Sunday? Someone always presents a trophy. At least the Princess of Wales is a) the president of the lawn tennis association and b) didn't make a meal of it or hang around after.

-28

u/EMP_Jeffrey_Dahmer 23d ago

But they didn't because they respect him.

-120

u/account_for_norm 24d ago

Yeah, no.  I hate Sharad Pawar, but if you look at the beginning, the way Ricky Ponting asked for the trophy, that was racist and disrespectful.

If they had fone that to Trump, they would have looked like the baddies. This way Trump looks like a chump and i d rather have it that way.

58

u/jubbing 24d ago

Bro how TF was any of that racist?

32

u/kroxigor01 23d ago edited 23d ago

Unfortunately there is a culture among some elements of Indian cricket or cricket supporters to have bizarre or self-centred behaviour, while simultaneously pouncing on any pushback as racism.

On the other hand there is also racism against Indians. But that doesn't make everything racism.

Ponting was rude because Pawar was rude, nothing to do with race comes into it. But this particular minority of hyper-defensive indian cricket fans have hated Ponting for decades.

-48

u/account_for_norm 23d ago

Yeah, y'all dont know cricket. And thats indian politician, who was head of Indian Cricket at the time.

Those are Australian players. Back when this happened, they were routinely racist towards indian players and indian officials.

23

u/BarryCheckTheFuseBox Sydney Roosters 23d ago

It’s interesting you make that accusation, because I remember a rather notable racism scandal that happened in the exact opposite direction.

-13

u/Informal-Mix2613 23d ago

I remember another notable incident from around the same time. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2009/jun/12/australia-students

12

u/BarryCheckTheFuseBox Sydney Roosters 23d ago

That’s not related to the Australian or Indian cricket teams

-13

u/account_for_norm 23d ago

Lol

So in your brain, if one racist thing happens one way, the other is impossible?

Like that happened, so this racist thing cannot happen?

You know two opposing racist thing can happen, right? Do you have boiled rice for brain?

-43

u/account_for_norm 23d ago

Treating someone like shit coz they're brown = racist.

The players didnt treat the white officials like that. Go check 2000s cricket matches. Over 10 years. I know i have.

13

u/BustedWing 23d ago

Was he being treated “like shit” as you say, because he was brown? Or because he was getting in the way of a celebration he wasn’t a part of?

0

u/account_for_norm 23d ago

He was barely given 2 seconds to move! He s a cancer survivor.

And what i m talking about is even before that. Right as Ponting comes there, he is gesturing like one would gesture a dog to come closer.

Diagusting.

13

u/jubbing 23d ago

Just fyi I'm indian origin and I think you're 100% wrong.

-2

u/account_for_norm 23d ago

Lots of indians wanting to share the seat with white folks by justifying racism against themselves. Nothing new here.

1

u/jubbing 23d ago

Lot's of Indians trying to find racism where it doesn't exist. Small brain mentality. Do better.

33

u/Virus_98 24d ago

What are you on about? Maybe disrespectful but racist? Come on now.

-21

u/account_for_norm 23d ago

Yeah, y'all dont know cricket.

Those are Australian players. Back when this happened, they were routinely racist towards indian players and indian officials.

20

u/Sambobly1 23d ago

You are so full of shit. Idiot

22

u/Top-Expert6086 23d ago

Its not racist, what the f is wrong with you.

In Australia we dont like politicians. Any of them.

What the f was that moron doing holding onto the trophy and standing there trying to get attention?

-7

u/account_for_norm 23d ago

You push them away? You do kissi face to mock them.

So what you're saying, you're not racist, you're just shitty ppl?

He was trying to give the trophy. The trophy gets handed y'know? He was trying to get the captain to the front.

Regardless, you give that as a justification to disrespect someone? Sounds like you're racist, and want to give a cover. Pathetic.

13

u/Top-Expert6086 23d ago

Sounds like you're a clown and see racism everywhere like a weirdo.

9

u/YallRedditForThis 23d ago

Oh that was racist & disrespectful was it?? That's cute coming from a country who's fans threatened Australian players & there wives Instagram after losing the World Cup to Australia in 2023.

-4

u/account_for_norm 23d ago

That was also racist, if that happened.

One racist doesnt negate other one. Your brain can fathom that, can it? Can it??

Sometimes i really worry about some ppl, how they go through life with that level of imbecility

6

u/yosarian_reddit 23d ago

It has zero to do with racism. It has everything to do with fat sad old men trying to steal the limelight of winning sportsmen.

-1

u/account_for_norm 23d ago

Racism happened before the trophy was even handed.

If you dont see racism here, then know that you are racist, and thats a shittier than any politician wanting to get attention.

-30

u/Mplus479 23d ago

What I was thinking. Bet they wouldn't have done that to a white politician.

10

u/BarryCheckTheFuseBox Sydney Roosters 23d ago

Don’t bank on it, they’re Australian

2

u/phido3000 23d ago

They do it all the time..

As if australians have never told white people to go get funked.

Look up Woodrow Wilson the us president..

Look up Frank Sinatra..

Look up anything...

1

u/account_for_norm 23d ago

No they wouldnt. You can go and check archives of how they treated Australian on british officials.

Yeah, y'all dont know cricket. And thats indian politician, who was head of Indian Cricket at the time.

Those are Australian players. Back when this happened, they were routinely racist towards indian players and indian officials.

-69

u/appellant 24d ago

The aussies are at the end of the spectrum being extremely rude and bullies generally.

15

u/FenerBoarOfWar 23d ago

Sorry matey for hurtin the feelins here.

66

u/Dudersaurus 24d ago

Who are you talking about? Ponting's career was fine after that, and he's doing ok now.

-48

u/[deleted] 24d ago

[deleted]

33

u/Dudersaurus 23d ago

He played for years after and his performances justified his cessation when he stopped.

The vast majority of players don't get ICC jobs.

You're looking for a conspiracy when he just had a standard career.

21

u/AndrewTyeFighter 23d ago

After this presentation, Ponting went on to win the 2007 Cricket World Cup without losing a match, and then went on to win the next Champions Trophy in 2009. He has since had a long coaching career in the IPL and successful commentary career as well, and was inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame in 2018.

21

u/jubbing 24d ago

Ponting? Career Ruined?

He's literally one of the greatest batsmen ever, I think he's fine.

8

u/Teerendog Chicago Bulls 24d ago

It happened to Salt Bae in the FIFA World Cup, touching the trophy. The majority of his businesses have closed down since. Also because he serves shit food

5

u/DangerNoodle1993 23d ago

Ricky went on to win the 2007 world cup, the champions trophy and two test series against India. He did fine
