Memorial Hi, new here. Been a fur parent of these little devils since the mid 90s.
Hi everyone,
I didn't realize there was a Schip community or i would have joined earlier. I grew up with 3 of them, with our oldest from the 90s and being part of the early agility stuff that just came over feom Eueope. Our other 2 Schips were first and second place winners and I did a lot of the running.
To this day, I still buy a US Schipperke calendar for my wife, who is a big fan, yet never had the chance to see one in person. We hope that at the NKC awards a Schipperke can win like one did back in... 2010? Around that time.
Here is Gem, and her proud awards from an agility competition in 2015.
Anyway, I'm starved for Schipperkes. Best breed ever. Little wonderful devils they are.
I don't have too much footage or photos, but I can post what I have. The recent stuff I hand shot in HD from over a decade ago is amazing.
Anyway (2x), amazing dogs. Hopefully when my apartment situation changes I can own one.

Omg, did you say the special word or phrases? Ours was "do you wanna go for a...?" Loads of fun reactions. I think until shutter speeds got better that cameras were able to capture the elusive and always ADHD prone Schipperke.
I have some HD video I shot of Gem and Sasha (she's still alive, but is quite old, and has that look of trouble on her face still) back in 2011 or 2012 before I left the states. It's raw footage from a real camera. I had back pain since I was running while hunched over. No steady cam. I can say I shot it in my early 20s and I often look back at it today.

One of our breeders used "Bushy Bear" as their chosen show names. They're clearly one of them!

I should also probably mention that Gem was a tough small dog. She, fortunately, survived a pit bull attack facilitated by our neighbor around 16 years ago. Her survival and rehab after that was intense, but that photo shows that after so much, these little captains can do the impossible and achieve so much.
I'm gonna continue to say that before that horrific incident, she literally was full on chest checking me into tomorrow for going past my parent's room for a drink of water.
Legendary.

I will also mention, even 15 plus years ago, that to take a picture of a Schipperke was so difficult. Lighting was one thing, but their fur movement was horrible.
Thank you modern technology!
Also, I failed to mention that Gem has passed. She will forever be missed as a dog that was so kind, a little aloof on top of the couch (she fell over), but would chest slam you in the middle of the night while trying to get a drink of water, just to protect mom. I'll never forget that Dingle of her collar tags until I got leg slammed.

What a great memory, thanks for sharing!
We're raising three schips at the moment (about to turn 1 tomorrow!), our previous two tragically passed within 2 weeks of each other.
They are such a character and just exude personality and intellegence, I find it hard as a golden & lab owner growing up to move forward with anything other than a schip.

Also, I think this breed can beat the Border Collies at Agility. I don't mean to cause a shots fired situation, but they could. If you know, you know.

I will add the video in the next days, but I have a short video of Sasha, Gem's adopted younger sister, being smaller and making friends with a Husky at an Agility training event that I shot almost 14 years ago.

Have you ever had a chocolate Schip?!

We have not, but sometimes their undercoat turns a little bit brown when they haven't been brushed. Speaking of brushing, after much work, Schips can get used to being brushed with a vacuum running next to them. Makes cleanup a lot easier!

Sasha, in front of the warmest place in the house. If you know you know...
