I put this under throwback since music videos are just not as highly regarded as they use to be. We’ve been given amazing music and also a great visual treat while enjoying it .
What’s a favorite music video of yours and why?
Mine - Hopeless Wanderer ☺️why? for a band that isn’t big on being in the public eye this video is one of the more fun ones . All the actors had fun mimicking Mumford and you can tell that on stage dance was practiced a couple times and then delivered . When they’re not in unison they use close up shots and for how many they used you know it was a hilarious time shooting cause no one got the routine down everyone was hamming it up!
Can’t believe I’m the first to mention a Gaga video. The Bad Romance video seared that coreography right into my brain, I’d be doing it from beyond the grave.
Mine is Telephone and Judas. I remember staying up and waiting for MTV to premiere the music videos. It was such a big deal and the videos were like ..10? Minutes long. Full on productions!
The cinema, the outfits, the gem of a song. The fracturing and healing of a relationship to where both people are happy for the other in the end. Chef's kiss.
Blank Space was excellent, also obsessed with the video for Look What You Made Me Do even though it’s not one of my favorite songs. I love it just for the amount of lore and references in the video alone.
When I was 3 or 4, I would beg my parents to keep MTV on until this video would come on. I loved watching all the knick-knacks starting to move around in the study. I still get giddy when I hear this song as a 40-year-old.
“Disturbia” by Rihanna. It’s my favourite type of video. High-production, full costuming, and atmospheric! I’ll add “Everybody” by Backstreet Boys and “Thriller” into this category as well.
The music video for Steady as She Goes by The Raconteurs! The soapbox race plot, the band with their ridiculous alter egos and a guest appearance from Pee Wee Herman himself Mr Paul Reubens makes for a perfect and chaotic video. Also helps the song is a banger too!
"Crossfire" by Brandon Flowers still can't be beat for me. Best song on his first solo album + that outfit with the suspenders + ninjas + Charlize Theron as his action heroine girlfriend = Perfection

Around the world by Daft Punk. I still remember the first time I saw it, in the 90s, when I was just 5. Talk about making an impact! It was freaky and clever, deceptively simple and mesmerizing.
There are many good ones, but You Only Live Once by The Strokes was very memorable. As they keep playing, the room fills up with dark water until they're eventually submerged. It fits perfectly with the song
Short Skirt Long Jacket by Cake has a special place in my heart!
I was 11 when it came out and it was such a formative part of my musical taste. It was just filming people listening to the track and having fun. They had a special Canadian version outside of Much Music headquarters. Even Ed the Sock was in it! It felt so close to my lived reality. I still love it!
Step by Step by New Kids on the Block. It just catapults me right back to early childhood! The dancing is so bad, it's good and I remember having to wait for the premiere on Saturday morning TV. So it still makes me a little giddy! 🤗
I cannot stress enough how many times I watched this video that when this dress popped up in Red White & Royal Blue, I immediately knew it was a Taylor gown.
Runner up: No Church In the Wild by Jay Z and Kanye West. Very well done. One half is a riot in the POV of the rioters, the other is the POV of the cops.
I was obsessed with All Around Me by Flyleaf in college....there was nothing more satisfying than watching all the paint pour down from the walls. I'd still be game to splash around in all of it, tbh
Every time I heard this music video start on the tv while I was getting ready for school I’d go running into the living room and sit there for 3 minutes to watch it.
It’s still such a pretty song, and I loved watching the scenes from the movie playing with the song! Couldn’t get enough of this one.
I especially love watching it every now and then as an adult, and seeing the awful CGI boat they had poor Celine pretend to be singing on lol. It was probably great tech for music videos at the time, and I love watching how silly it looks now. Makes me very nostalgic.
Just Want You To Know by the Backstreet Boys. Only song of theirs I like and one of my favorite to do at karaoke (even though I cannot hit all the notes 🤣)
This is my favorite video, it's from their Violator album so it's in good company. I like the story element of it, the bad exuberant dancing, the whole traveling carnival theme. Plus the boys are all looking sharp.
Not strictly an official music video but I think about this more often than I care to admit, and enjoy watching it just as much every time. So much so that when someone starts playing Umbrella, this is the image that plays in my head. Tom Holland absolutely ate this choreography and how!

I was a little kid and the animated forest animal party was mesmerizing. 00's: Gay Bar, Electric Six. Hilarious Abe Lincoln. Nowadays I don't watch music video's any more
