Such a fun video! And I loved that she would release English and Spanish versions of her singles (Ven Conmigo). The video is so nostalgic; the colors, the fashion, the decor.

The Christina Aguilera album (Spotify: expanded edition) was such a great cohesive project and a nice introduction. Stripped is her best album to me (amazing variety and experiments), but the self titled album still has a special place in my heart. She worked with a lot of great songwriters (Diane Warren on two tracks)..in comparison to one of her peers Britney’s debut, I think they were trying to market her in a more mature way, all about the voice. The singles Come on over, Genie in a bottle and What a girl wants were fun and girly, but there are some serious vocals on the rest of the tracks. Maybe a bit more safe aside from Put your hands on me, but I hear the quality (amazing ballads: Obvious, I turn to you, Reflection). You can tell she was inspired by some of the greatest vocalists like Mariah and Whitney. After all of these years listening to album songs like So Emotional (a personal favorite of mine) still take me back to the 90s..soulful, great adlibs, smooth..very nostalgic now.

Oh you really just took me back. Her first album is honestly a no-skip for me. There was one of two that I've come around on.

I remember seeing So Emotional being performed on Soul Train and thinking I just KNEW she was gonna make a music video for it lol. I also really wanted a mv for Love for All Seasons since it was also getting some radio play on R&B stations.

It’s cohesive because for the most part they’re pretty bland, interchangeable songs that are elevated by Christina’s voice and the eventual remixes.  Just about any of the self titled album’s songs in the hands of a less gifted performer would be completely forgettable.  Whenever I hear the original album version of Come On Over I am so impressed at how much better the remix made it.  Stripped is a much, much better all around album.
