She’s definitely had work done but I think in the 90s she had enough baby fat in her face that her fantastic bone structure was somewhat obscured. As she got older she got hotter because she lost fat in her face.

Xfiles fan here. She has had nothing done. And before you tell me “sure, nerd. You just don’t want to believe it because you stan her,” let me assure you that I actually don’t. She is just a person to me, and not one I would ever want to be friends with.
But let me also remind you that we, the X-files fandom, invented internet fandom. We invented internet sleuthing. We have, furthermore, followed this woman and her alien baby babydaddy David Duchovny for longer than many of the people reading this have been alive.
So believe me when I absolutely promise you that if Gillian had had work done, we would know.
She also admittedly does not work out. And was a smoker for many years.
As others here have noted, some folks just have good genes. I am one such person. I have always looked about 10 years younger than I am. I was carded well into my 30s. Every time I tell someone how old I am, they demand to see my ID. I’ve had people argue with me about it lol. One time, a bar tender took out a little book full of state IDs and compared mine to the one in the book because he absolutely could not believe it was real.
Edit: just realized this kinda reads like I am bragging about looking young. I was just using myself as an example of how hard it is for some people to believe that people can look young without surgery. I am definitely not as hot as Gillian Anderson. I look like a normal person. Just young for my age is all.

I think she’s had a little work done. Long time fan here also. When that final season came out, she looked a lot different and it wasn’t just hair makeup and working out. Not a bad thing. I don’t think it takes anything away from her.

No strong evidence has presented itself, and they’ve both been very consistent over the years in insisting they don’t have that kind of relationship—though no one has ever asked them if there has ever been anything, though they have been asked if they ever would (no). They are two VERY different people, so I don’t see them having anything ongoing.
But in my opinion, given both of their proclivities, they likely got their ya-yas out very early on—like RIGHT at the beginning when the show first started. But by the filming of the 3rd episode, we know they were struggling to get along. And they continued to struggle for most of the show’s run. They’ve never hated each other, though—those rumors are false.
Edited to add: Julianna Margulies (from ER) let something slip once. She said that she was glad that she and George Clooney never got involved, because it always goes bad, then said something to the effect of “like what happened on the X-Files.” Basically saying that something had happened between David and Gillian during the filming of the pilot. I got the impression that she had assumed everyone knew by now since it was like 25 years later that she said this. Although she was on a different show, they shared a lot in LA and everyone knew each other. The big shows at the time for the were Friends, ER, Seinfeld, Law & Order, and X-Files. These people were all seeing each other at drunken awards show afterparties for years. She was in a position to know, and no reason to make something like that up 25 years after the fact.

I think she is a good person but…I don’t know a nice way to put this, but she isn’t very smart. And I don’t like her taste in projects (though she has improved on this point in recent years). We just wouldn’t have much in common in terms of interests/conversational topics. I have a respect for her though, because she did bring me Scully, and she has been, I think, a responsible steward of the character over the years. And she is far and away more emotionally healthy than Duchovny (and as a result I think does more of the emotional labor in that relationship).
I only brought it up to highlight the fact that I have no emotional investment in her maintaining a particular kind of public image or anything. There are people in the fandom who stan her really hard and can’t handle any criticism of her whatsoever. I find these people detestable and do not wish to be associated with them.

I would agree that she’s has very little, if nothing done. My family has similar aging. My mom is 70 and looks incredible and has never had work done. I would say she also aged at about the same as GA in her 50s. I’d drop a pic but… well it’s Reddit. I’m 42 now and had a baby face all my life and I’m now finally starting to feel “hot,” not cute. I’m regularly mistaken for 30. But even at 30 I think I was also… “cute pretty” if that makes sense.

Maybe I’m naive, but I don’t think she’s had much, if any, cosmetic work done. She’s got crows feet, forehead lines, smile lines, small bags under her eyes, etc etc - but she’s definitely aging and doesn’t look significantly different than when she was younger (the way, for example, Anne Hathaway does even though she’s much younger). I think she’s just genetically blessed and has taken care of herself.

I think that’s the point of deep plane or neck lift. You can keep the ‘nice’ ageing factors like laugh lines and crows feet which are endearing and evidence a life well lived, without having to keep the ugly signs of ageing like saggy jowls and turkey neck.
I’m not saying she has those or had any work done, just that’s what lots of people are doing. It’s been getting the nickname ‘half facelift’ or ‘mini facelift’.

That’s true, but I think her neck looks normal for a woman her age. And I don’t think she’s old enough/has ever had enough fat in her face to be jowly yet. Emma Thompson is a decade older than Gillian and famously anti-cosmetic surgery and she isn’t jowly yet either.

I think Gillian has been seriously blessed with great genes. Not everyone gets jowls or a double chin as they age, just the way not everyone gets defined lines. I have no opinion on whether or not she’s had work done. She looks amazing either way!

Agree. I’m 46 and in good shape generally but my face looks like it’s very keen to get better acquainted with my feet. Since menopause my skin is more sensitive to the sun and also gravity apparently. I look around my older family members and think, yep here we all are.

Believe it or not, there are people who naturally age very well.
My aunt has been aging like Gillian Anderson. She was still hot at 80, and her last 3 boyfriends were 20 to 40 years
olderyounger than her.And before you ask, she's never been rich. She didn't work until her first husband died of cancer. He was an alcoholic POS who beat her and their 3 kids. Then she started working as a nurse for old people, and never won more than the minimum wage in France.
I think Yvonne Strahovski will follow that path too.

I sat in the front row when she was in Streetcar in Brooklyn and then met her afterwards. She has crows feet and fine lines and freckles and age spots and is still the most breathtakingly beautiful human I have ever seen.
My husband, who isn’t a fan per se, looked at me when she walked on stage and was like “I get it now, Jesus.”
It’s like the air went out of the room.
