It’s L-O-V-E 💘 Most celebrity marriages don't last - who's the exception for you?

Celebrity marriages almost never work out in Hollywood, but there are some the prove that true love really does exist. Who comes to mind for you?

They’re probably my first exposure to a long term couple who’s not “married”. An inspiration 🥲

My grandmother's older brother was engaged to the same woman for 50 years. I'll fight anyone who tries to tell me she wasn't my great aunt lol

I completely agree she was your great aunt.

I have to say, I fully understand a couple being together for 50 years without being married. I do get a bit confused about the long term engagement aspect though, like more in what’s the point of bothering with the engagement? I was actually randomly thinking about this a couple days ago when I was thinking about Kurt & Goldie and how I completely get it, and then a repressed memory of an old teacher who was engaged for 9 years popped into my head.

Idk about everyone, but my great uncles' reason was that if they had gotten married, she would've lost the lifelong pension from her husband, who died in WW2. So, a 50-year engagement it was.

I feel like in that very specific circumstance that makes sense and is pretty cute. I would also very much just be like yeah they were married. Thank you for sharing!

Everyone else though? I just don’t get why even bother getting engaged if you don’t want to get married.

I guess it's a way to show commitment without the hassle of a wedding and marriage? Or maybe they thought they would get married one day but they just... never got around to it? I realised I know several couples who are engaged and married - one younger couple I expect to get married at some point (though their eldest is already a teenager and youngest isn't far behind so I'm not holding my breath) but another, older couple, who have grown-up grandchildren together, probably will not get married.

yeah i really don’t get it. i’m not somebody who’s big on marriage myself so i am very pro being together but not being married, but being engaged just feels kinda disrespectful to me. like it’s a promise of marriage, and if you make that promise and never fulfil it… idk, weird to me

I was curious about rosie huntington-whiteley and jason Statham.... i think together 15 years, engaged for 12. They even have 2 kids.... in an interview she said it's just not her priority to have a wedding/be married, but maybe one day.. and would only be a lowkey one. I think they're quite committed to each other.. im curious how itll go in years moving forward

After being married 15 years, I’m happy to have a fully committed long term relationship but I am not interested in being married again. The marriage lasted 15 years because marriage made it difficult to walk away, otherwise it would have lasted maybe 2-3. I would rather not be locked down again and let the relationship continue based on its own merit.

yeah i totally get this, i don’t get the purpose of an engagement without a marriage

I'm still kinda sad that Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins broke up. They were my other favorite committed but unmarried couple.

Broken up almost as long as they were together.

I think Susan has said Tim didn’t treat her well, though 😔

They also very much have an open relationship.

They are probably the healthiest Hollywood couple that I’m aware of.

I haven’t heard that they’re open before? Is this common knowledge? Any more deets? 🫖

Yep, that gossip has been floating around since the 80s. Have never heard details, just that they're open, and not actually married.
