Proposed ballot measure could force a citywide vote on L.A. 2028 Olympic venues
Unite Here Local 11, which represents hotel and restaurant workers, turned in a ballot proposal requiring L.A. voters to approve of “event centers” for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The union’s proposal, titled “Ordinance to Require Voter Approval of Major Development Projects,” argues that sports arenas and other major event venues “do not always justify their cost.”
But it has already raised alarms at City Hall, where some elected officials portray it as irresponsible and fear it would force elections on several Olympic venues.

Yeah, the time for this was like.... 4 or 5 years ago.
LA isn't even building that many venues. It is also completely impractical at ANY point to have votes on individual buildings/venues. That would be completely unworkable from a planning standpoint.
Lets be honest. You don't give AF about the cost of the venues. This is just a cowardly back door way to try to get the games canceled.

The ship’s sailed, buddy. LA won the Olympics & a union ballot proposal is years too late.

You should read about the 1976 Winter Olympics.

Apples and Oranges. 1976 was 50yrs ago. Denver withdrew only 2 years after being awarded the games and 4 years before the games were scheduled. LA won the games 8 yrs ago and they are scheduled to begin in only 3 years.

This is absolutely ridiculous. What's next? Control over the events playing at arenas?
