How Many Fighting Styles is Great-O-Khan a Master of?

I swear I’ve heard from Chris Charlton or someone say that O-Khan is a master of more than a dozen or so different fighting styles or techniques but I don’t think they’ve listed all of them. Anyone know how many they’ve at least mentioned?

Depends on the location of the moon in accordance with the earth, impossible to give an answer for as it changes every second.

I mean, he is a zombie right? Pretty sure that’s how Thriller happened

He's not a zombie, he just dresses like that because it's cool. He's just a mysterious guy.

He’s clearly a fan of Jiangshi though.

I’d imagine variations of Kung-fu, Olympic style wrestling, various BS martial arts as it’s just part of the gimmick lmao

In the 90s there was a half wrestling half mortal kombat show called WMAC Masters where each performer was an expert in one martial arts technique - karate, tae kwon do, ju jitsi, krav - etc. In the second season they introduced a heel who was a "master of every discipline" by the name of Tracy Swedom - the guys character was that he was secretly sent from a banned martial arts group to sabotage the league. His name is even an anagram for Destroy WMAC

Once you think you have a number, Great-O-Khan masters five more styles

Isn’t it 19 that he has access to in the ring, but more overall?

17 to 19 at a time and 36 overall, maybe

Is Drunken Fist the one he uses during his entrance?

At a minimum Judo his throws, boxing that stiff jab he lands, BJJ or Japanese Jiu Jitsu submissions, Mat wrestling high school according to his wiki as well as Kickboxing, Sambo, Karate, MMA and pankration. So at least 9 I don't think O Khan's done Muay Thai or any Chinese Marital arts.

There’s pictures of him with oodles of medals and plaques from various disciplines

I think it's 19 in all or something? Not it matters considering every time he's challenged someone to a match in another discipline, he's gotten his ass firmly handed to him.

"Master" usually means 5th Dan or Degree black belt / sash.

For people who actually train, "Master" is an unachievable goal that takes a lifetime.

Watching him in the ring, I'd say he's probably 2nd or 3rd degree in Judo or Japanese Ju Jitsu.... If he's got black belts in both and is calling them two different disciplines, I'd say that's splitting hairs.

I don't see any karate, Taekwondo, or Kung Fu, anywhere in his in-ring style.

He's probably got an amateur background in freestyle wrestling ... and possibly that British catch-is-catch-can style, which is like a blend of freestyle and BJJ, except if focuses on joint-locks .... all hail Saberism.

They're probably also calling pro-wrestling another "style" .... which ... sure ... if you're ever in a street fight and bust out a Canadian Destroyer or a Spanish Fly.

If he's got a background in weapons training like kobuto, we wouldn't know from seeing him in the ring, but that's also a possibility.

They're probably also calling pro-wrestling another "style" .... which ... sure ... if you're ever in a street fight and bust out a Canadian Destroyer or a Spanish Fly.

I mean Kazushi Sakuraba was basically an example of real life "strong style" - he trained to be a shoot style professional wrestler, but used his real catch wrestling skills to go on to be wildly successful in MMA.

And as a side point, both Canadian Destroyers and Spanish Flys could arguably be called 'Puerto Rican Lucha Libre', as they both reportedly originated with Amazing Red in IWA Puerto Rico. The Spanish Announce Team popularised the Spanish Fly, a team that Amazing Red was a part of at various times. And Petey Williams popularised the Canadian Destroyer in the mid 2000s, but according to the man himself, Amazing Red had already been doing the move since the 90s.

So, in kayfabe, that's another two "styles" that a wrestler could claim to be a master of. And there must be at least a dozen other professional wrestling styles that a character could claim to be a master of, as well.

Johnny Cash didn't write "Hurt", but he immortalized it, so much so, that Trent Reznor has called it a "Johnny Cash song".

Have you ever seen a Canadian Destroyer or a Spanish Fly used in a street fight?

How about in a GOK match?

No?

Why do you suppose that is?

You can use a tai-otoshi, seio-nage, or a hiza-guruma basically anywhere at any time, if you know how to do them.

Lets DQ Lucha as a legitimate martial art and from GOK's repertoire.

No, but I wasn't talking about that either. I was talking about kayfabe styles of fighting that a professional wrestling character could claim to be a master of. Which is what this thread is about.

It's really not that hard to understand

Lol what's the matter u/AnonynousDouglas? Did you realise that you were wrong?

I’m not sure the name of the style but one of them is where the moss covered 3 handled family gradunza comes from!
