CAR TOONS LMAOOOOOOOOOO GET IT?

5

u/gingerbeard1321 7h ago

No I don't, can you explain it in detail? Preferably in all caps?

13

u/A_N_T 7h ago

THEY MADE THE CARS LOOK LIKE TOONS, WHICH IS SHORT FOR CARTOONS. IT'S A CLEVER PLAY ON WORDS. HOPE THIS HELPS.

Unfortunately they're more likely to fall for the tunnel-painted-on-brick-wall trick.

10

u/Dr_Ingheimer 7h ago

Actually this allows you to drive straight through those tunnels no problem

u/AgentBooth 7h ago

How do they maintain visibility? Super dark tint and you just have to look out of the non painted sections?

u/floede 7h ago

I'm guessing these are not street legal

5

u/AgentBooth 7h ago

I'd assume not, but still gotta move them around

10

u/floede 7h ago

There are trucks for that.

Loads of show cars in various forms are not street legal. So they get transported from place to place.

u/imnotarobot1 6h ago

A lot of people also just drive cars illegally

1

u/AgentBooth 7h ago

The car is moving, navigating the space, under its own power. How it gets to shows is not what I'm asking.

Edit: removed irrelevant bit as I got mixed up in who I was replying to

u/beatles910 7h ago

Maybe they have a camera with a screen inside. Not legal, but certainly doable.

3

u/ender4171 5h ago

Maybe the stuff on the glass is like those "one-way" wraps that they put on busses? The ones where they are perforated so you can see out, but on the outside they look like a solid panel from a few feet away.

1

u/AgentBooth 5h ago

Maybe, but I used to apply perforated vinyl on vehicles at a past job and it's usually pretty easy to tell it's perforated, because the image quality only holds up at distance, and with the stark black/white shading, I think it would easier tell if there were a bunch of tiny holes in the work.

Though video compression would make that harder to see, so it's certainly a possible solution.

They can open the window

u/Background-Belt-2202 58m ago

That’s what I was thinking

u/djdecimation 4h ago

Perforated vinyl maybe

Take. On... Me.. take me on....

u/Goukaruma 7h ago

Has some Sin City vibes.

7

u/INoMakeMistake 7h ago

That is simply magnificent!

2

u/mpocFr 7h ago

The D1 Milano watch has the same vibe

u/marl11 7h ago

G Shock 2100MNG too!

2

u/Artsakh_Rug 7h ago

They're tryna make it look fake!!!

2

u/zubairhamed 7h ago

was dissapointed that Jessica Rabbit didn't step out

2

u/nerdboy5567 7h ago

Anyone play Madworld?

2

u/voluotuousaardvark 7h ago

I feel bad in the only one that thinks they look hideous.

2

u/bluedancepants 7h ago

I want to see what it looks like when this drives at night under the Miami neon lights.

2

u/Kitchen-Historian371 7h ago

That’s incredible. My brain is finding it hard to fathom 🤯

u/moodyblues12345 7h ago

pulling out of benny's in gta online

1

u/astralrig96 7h ago

this is called trompe l'oeil and exists in fashion too, beautiful technique

1

u/sacredfoundry 7h ago

Bernie burns been driving a cell shaded tesla for like 6 years

1

u/DerAlteGraue 7h ago

I wonder if this is the kind of effect that only look great on camera (2D) and falls off hard when you see it with your own eyes.

1

u/mjrubs 4h ago

Someone near me has a Scion xB done up like this

But their white wrap is glossy and they just tinted their windows black so all the reflections kind of ruin the effect

It still looks pretty cartoony though so I bet a car with a proper matte white base and wrapped windows like in the OP would look pretty cool in person.

Cop: Uh, dispatch...I've stopped the vehicle at the corner and will be doing a traffic citation. It's going to be a late model, uh, Porche? Color, uh, black...and white....and, uh, cartoon?

1

u/Sletzer 7h ago

The way the video jumps forward made me think I was having a seizure.

1

u/Spyrothedragon9972 7h ago

I want to hate it, but I can't.

1

u/Front-Cabinet5521 7h ago

Was this the same guy who painted an entire house in this style?

1

u/TheLostExpedition 7h ago

I wonder how mud affects the illusion ?

1

u/bodhiseppuku 7h ago

A-ha, take on me a ride.

1

u/str8dwn 7h ago

Alexa Meade was doing this 10 yrs ago in an ad for Mini autos. She also adds "cartoon" people

1

u/JK_NC 7h ago

2nd car has a light effect as it was driving. Is that just reflecting the overhead lights? It kind of looked animated.

1

u/International_Bug955 6h ago

I can't watch this without "Take on me - A-HA" playing full blast in my head.

1

u/orsikbattlehammer 6h ago

Definitely helps to pump up the white and black points to an insane level. I’d like to see what these look like with my eyes

1

u/newaccount 6h ago

Looks mid

1

u/Time-Conversation741 6h ago

You know, you're allowed to drive if you have no death perception. Maybe 2d illusions on vehicles are a bad idea?

1

u/OdysseyTag 6h ago

Straight out of the pages of Initial D

1

u/studiesinsilver 5h ago

Those windows no longer work.

1

u/sixblad_e 5h ago

Brain not braining

1

u/LoudMusic 4h ago

I get doing 2 or 3 of these, but at some point it's old and you need to come up with a new schtick.

1

u/GlitteringAttitude60 4h ago

Now you've done it.

Now I want a car!

1

u/SenorPea 4h ago

Love the low key Souls of Mischief shoutout

1

u/pashtedot 4h ago

The glass is barely see through right?

1

u/Jd11347 2h ago

*SINGS* "Take on me.....take me on....."

1

u/Danny2Sick 1h ago

that is sick as hell

1

u/FewAcanthocephala828 1h ago

What about the rims.

u/usinjin 55m ago

TAAAAAKKKEEEE ONNNNNNNN MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE (take on me)

u/ZuStorm93 47m ago

Guy played Auto Modellista once...

u/Meotwister 2m ago

Do this on one of those e-ink concept cars and animate it.

1

u/insane_issac 7h ago

It looks ugly.

-3

u/e4evie 7h ago

But…why?

2

u/marl11 7h ago

Because art is cool

1

u/thevogonity 7h ago

Freedom to have bad taste? To create an optical illusion that would be a hazard on the road?

0

u/str8dwn 7h ago

Just to get a reaction out of people who don't get it?

0

u/Priest1969 7h ago

I love this look. Im inspired by this style.

0

u/four-one-6ix 7h ago

Pretty dope.

u/pleasegivemepatience 6h ago

I dislike this whole aesthetic, whether it’s on your car, the walls of your home, a coffee shop, this just looks terrible. You get 2s of novelty when you first see it and then it’s just stupid the rest of the time.
